I'd be lying if I didn't admit I chose this inspector because it reminds me of The Simpsons... "Hi…read moreeverybody! Hi Dr. Nick!!" Our realtor gave us a few recommendations and they had the best Yelp reviews so we went with them. Glad we did! Nate does a nice job talking you through everything in the inspection process, and you can tell he knows about customer service. Sometimes the inspectors can be a little gruff, or maybe too direct. Nate's so personable and honest, it's a refreshing change of pace. They are also very thorough and cover top to bottom. This inspection ran us a bit more than one in the past, but that's because we added chimney and sewer specialists to it, so all in all it worked out to be about average in cost. Apparently they're very responsive as well, which is good because I have a few questions after digging into some details. Assuming the best and rounding up here based on prior communications. I'd recommend them and will with for them again down the road.

Instead we found after moving in that between the joists the roof sagged. The jets did not work in the master bathroom and there is no hot water coming out of the faucet on the tub. I contacted him about the roof and he took no responsibility. Rather he made excuses and taking no responsibility for his oversight.

Larry the House Inspector - Construction by Larry the House Inspector

I'll be honest, I'm just like you, I looked at Larry's reviews and said "only one?.. From 2016?…read moreYikes." But truth be told, I was a jerk for thinking like that. Larry doesn't have many reviews because he does a great job, and it's much more motivational to complain than to compliment. But Larry really did a great job on my home inspection. He and his lovely wife got into every nook and cranny of the house I am under contract for. They pointed out every little issue, from the fridge's ice maker not working, to larger issues like the home having absolutely no smoke detectors. They took many, many photos of the home, and reccomended a great pest expert to assess the home for termites. Overall, if you're on the fence about using Larry, please do so! He and his wife are very kind people and even better home inspectors.

He found many items that needed addressing, and spent an hour on the phone with me going over them with me, as well as emailing me many photos. He also submitted a very detailed, typed report 25th more photos. I truly appreciated his going above and beyond the call of duty, especially since I'm an out of state buyer. His due diligence gave me piece of mind and saved me lots of future problems. He is a gem, and very meticulous in a world where people get by doing the bare minimum.

We were fortunate to find Amerispec through our realtor referral, and because coincidentally this inspector (Garrison) had actually been to this particular house a week before. It worked out well that he had been there and had the other buyer back out so we could ask him anything about what he found and really dig into it. Garrison was quick to get to work, to double check everything and make recommendations of all kinds. While we love the house, we tried to keep an objective mind and waited for any huge red flags. Luckily, despite the age of this house, Garrison gave us a report back that didn't give us any cause for alarm and we're closing later this month. He was very helpful, very thorough, and well priced. Oh and guess what? RIGHT ON TIME! That's big for me, and he was as punctual as he could be. Our roofing contractor/inspector on the other hand showed up two hours late. I would highly recommend Amerispec and Garrison whether you've been down the house buying road or not!

My husband and I recently bought a house and the radon levels were high, so we went through…read morereferrals which brought us to Jeff. We had Jeff come out to our NEW home (with our realtor present who had referred him) and he looked things over and said he would have to place the mitigation system in 'the garage' and run the power source up through the bedroom upstairs. He gave us a quote and we let our realtor handle the rest. We received a realtor's discount because of the referral. Our realtor had gotten another quote for $45 cheaper from another person and ran it by Jeff to see if he could accommodate and quote the same price. He did. I called to schedule with him almost 2 weeks ago and we both agreed on a 9AM time because I have young children and 8AM was too early to start. He never gave me a call to confirm the date and time. This morning (2/18) he comes at 8AM. My children and I were still asleep. I opened the door and apologized to him for not being awake, as we agreed on 9AM time. I invited him in and had him wait just a minute because my 1 year old had woken up. We walked down to the garage and he was immediately annoyed and made it very obvious. My husband had built a 50inch tall work bench in between the time he was here to give us a quote and now, because we had no storage for his tools. This is our home and we are allowed to build a bench. He stated "well, THAT wasn't there when I was here before". I said, "no, we needed a way to store things and we didn't think this would be a problem as you are still able to work under it and get to the concrete". Jeff just looked very annoyed and he stood in silence. I had to pry out of him what his ORIGINAL plan was and he stated that I had already made him come off of his price more than he should have and this was causing even more work. I simply said, "well if you need my husband to adjust some stuff and you can come back another time we can do that too. Whatever is easiest for you." While I'M STILL trying to accommodate for HIM, and I stated that I had nothing to do with him coming off of his price. That was an agreement between him and my realtor. He still needed to express his annoyance with us and living in our house and making adjustments for our benefit, and needed to tell me once again he had come off the price enough and this was added work. I told him, "well We did have someone else offer the same price as you agreed to, so if you don't want to do it then you don't have to." As soon as that came out of my mouth he turned around and he was walking out of my house and said "ok!" While he's walking out I remind him next time he agrees to a certain time in the morning, stick to it and give a confirmation call. Attached is his "inconvenience" that we built. Unprofessional and disrespectful to me as a woman with my child on my hip, KNOWING I was home alone without my husband or realtor. The Jeff that came to our house to give us a quote (with my realtor present) and the Jeff that came today and walked out of my house refusing to do the work and disrespectful to me, were two different people. I am saddened to write this, but I don't want the same to happen to another person. I will be finding ANOTHER small business to complete this for me, because this small business couldn't be bothered by an inconvenience in MY home. Attached is the "inconvenience" that we built.
