Editing my review to 5 stars due to the response from Radius Tours. Received a nice email from them including a refund. Top notch company. However I stand by my original tour review. On the train headed back to Munich following a tour of Dachau Concentration Camp. The tour was ruined by our guide Kai as he was more interested in telling us about his political views, how he has been a victim of discrimination and treating us like we were his students in his classroom (he informed the group he was a teacher). We learned more about him than the camp itself. As one who had family members killed in camps I was looking forward to really leaning about the camp and keeping the remembrance alive, but instead I learned about Kai. read more

As a history teacher of 27 years, I really appreciate the wonderful job that Yolanda and Iain did in respectfully and tastefully brining to life the horrors of this facility. I learned so much and subsequently used my pictures, Facebook post of the day, and the information I gained from Iain and Yolanda as teaching tools in my classes. We booked a walking tour online and were to arrive by 10:15 for our 10:30 tour. We decided to walk from The Westin Grand so we could see the city by foot. Not knowing our way around, we arrived at exactly 10:30 and our tour had already departed. The tour staff was so accommodating. There was a Third Reich tour leaving in an hour. The staff told us about a wonderful restaurant nearby for breakfast. It was delicious as promised and quick so we did not miss our "make-up" tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable. He spoke wonderful English and debunked so many stories that are told about Hitler. There was so much propaganda at the time. Much information shared sadden me for how so many people were treated. I would like to return in warm weather for one of their bike tours. read more

My boyfriend and I had a great evening on the beer tour with Ian! It was great to have a nice evening with fellow English speakers while enjoying some beer and learning about the influence and importance of bier in the Munich, and German, culture. To start: if you are in the city centre you will need to go to the main train station to get to the Radius tours office. It's a small trailer across the street from the main train station. They tell you it's near platform 35 - be sure to look for that instead of wondering around in the metro station wondering where the platform is (that was a first time train platform searcher mistake on my behalf). We get to the trailer, sign in and before you depart you have a beer with your group. Ian then leads the group down to the metro, he has all tickets for this so don't worry about needing to get tickets to get to and from places on the beer tour. You take it a few stops into the city centre where you start the tour at the Bier & Oktoberfest Museum. He explains the significance and ownership of the museum and you get to try some beer and pretzels here. Afterwards you go to an old bier haus and you get a nice platter of traditional german food and big stein of your liking. There are some areas where you are required to pay extra for drinks, so beware of that (i.e. at the museum, at dinner). read more

This company is the best tour company in Munich! Their tour guides are so informative, friendly, and helpful! We took the Dachau tour and my mom, who had just had a knee replacement and was using a walker, the tour guide called ahead and arranged for her to have a motorized scooter so she wouldn't have any problems! I had an issue and missed the train with the rest of the group, so the tour company helped me get to Dachau on my own and also helped me catch up with the rest of the group! Without exemption, on every trip I end up scheduling a tour for some sight that isn't convenient to get to. It's out of the way, or it's a little further away than I feel like organizing for myself. On my last trip, I wanted to see Schloss Neuschwanstein.... Ludwig II of Bavaria's castle in southern Germany that never reached completion. BTW, a must see. Two tickets for this tour cost just under 57 Euro. It would have been more, but my wife and I already had eurail passes, which knocked 7 Euro off per ticket. The cost of the tour DOES NOT include admission to the castle (an additional 9 Euro a piece). So basically for us, 57 E bought two 5-minute bus rides and maybe 15 minutes of a talk led by the guide. Our guide was very pleasant, and the 15 minutes or so of his presentation was interesting.... but I just don't see the value in it. Do yourself a favor. Look into getting there on your own via rail. Once there, I'm sure there are frequent buses from the bahnhof to the small village at the foot of the hill the castle is on. Buy the 6 Euro guide book available in the gift shop. Have just as much fun.... without being saddled with a tour group. Save your money for another experience. Recommend. It serves its purpose.... but isn't a good value. read more

We used Radius Tours (booked thru Viator) for a train trip tour of Ludwig's famous castle that was the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty's castle at Disneyland. (Starts with an N, can't spell it) Our tour guide was Suzanna and she was great. We were in a group of about 20, and she made sure we were all together for the train and bus changes on our one day journey to the castle and back. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the history of Germany, and provided good commentary along the way. Everything was done on schedule, but we did have a bit of free time to explore as well. Did the Schloss Neuschwanstein tour from Munich. A great experience. Ignore bad reviews by spoiled tourists, especially Americans. It's Radius fault the castle is far from Munich and takes 2 hours to get there by train? Anyway, I can't remember the name of our guide. Older guy originally from Stuttgart, now retired. Great English. very helpful to me, as he saw I was disabled and went over the waking vs carriage vs minibus options for me to make sue i was OK. He gave some good information, recommended some places and once we got to the village, told us where to meet up and left us on our own, which I preferred. Great guy, very friendly. Yes, the castle tour is from 9:30 in the morning and you get back at 7:00 at night. it's all of a full day, 2+ hours each way on trains. Rent a car if that doesn't suit you...the countryside is beautiful. The tour was pretty inexpensive, they arranged everything except lunch and I was completely satisfied. Next time in Munich I fully plan to take their beer tour. be sure to tip your guide. read more

Highly recommend this company. My family took the morning tour to Dachau concentration camp and although it's a sad environment the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative. I visited Munich for Oktoberfest in 2018. I worked with Daniel Holder who was incredibly helpful and patient answering all my emails prior to my arrival. He arranged a private tour of the Oktoberfest site with Ian Mackinnon who was fabulous. He was straightforward and took us through the park explaining everything and giving us some great history about the event. We visited a few of the tents to see the massive size of some of them (they are not easy to just walk into). Then we went into the Hofbrau Haus tent with a prearranged reservation and we enjoyed some Beer and food. Overall it was a great experience and we would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to visit Munich. Unfortunately, we were unable to make the bike tour the next day but I am sure they would do a great job on that too. read more

Worse bike tour ever. The bike got a flat halfway through the ride. Had to stop every two blocks and pump it up with a dilapidated old hand pump. Then the left pedal got stuck and wouldn't rotate. Now I'm basically pedaling with a flat rear tire and using only my right leg. Eventually the tour guide said I had to stop and she chained my bike to a tree and told me my tour was over. Then they left me. Nice. There is no way I can recommend this outfit. I even wrote to them and asked how they planned to remedy the situation (a refund would have been nice). No response. If you are reading this, try another tour company. read more

If you've never been to Munich (or even if you have) I highly recommend the Beer and food tour with Kevin! He made, not only the tour, but my entire vacation to Munich momentous! If you are new to the city, start here because it will help you with a variety of ideas for the rest of your trip! Actually, my review of this tour is less of a review and more of a thank you to our tour guide Kevin who inadvertently laid out a floor plan for the following days of activities and the must do's for my trip in Munich. The tour starts with beer and ends with beer! You go to a beer tasting at the museum, then a tour of the museum, then more beer, you get a meal and more beer at another venue, then to a bar hop area ..and you finish the tour at the infamous hof house.. We all had sooo much fun we ended up hanging out with Kevin after the tour! Lol It was so helpful getting a locals perspective who also happened to be American as well! The best places for after hours drinks at good prices, best food in the area... We were even introduced to different types of beers AFTER the tour! We had 12% beer that tasted amazing !! Best place to buy steins??! He is all knowing! Kevin knew it all! So thank you Kevin, my trip wouldn't have been the same without you! read more

Easy bike rental. The location is perfect. It is right in the Hauptbahnhof train station. The attendant was very friendly and spoke English to us. The bikes were better priced than other places in Munich. All four of our bikes were in perfect condition and we had no problems with them for the entire day. Free basket, free lock, free map, and a little bit of free advise from the attendant. You will need to put a credit card on file for incidentals. read more

Did the walking tour with Will, a Texan who has been living in Munich for 10 years. I am already a fan of walking tours but this one was exactly why this is the first thing I do when I get to a new city. Will was knowledgeable, friendly, and did a solid job of sharing some local info about the city. You do not spend any time actually doing any of the tourist activities on this tour but you see them all and get a feel for which ones you may want to come back to when you have more time. I am making my review 2 stars based on the horrible guide. I love world war 2 history and was looking forward to learning and going through this emotional experience. Jeff was rude and seemed completely undisturbed by the subject matter in which he was presenting. Every time I asked a question he seemed annoyed, rolled his eyes, or made a rude remark. (My sister and I asked about 8-10 questions combined during the tour, because we are genuinely interested!!) To half of the questions his response was "I don't know." Actually one of his responses was "guess you'll have to ask the Nazis" in a very sarcastic tone. He said he has been doing tours here for 10+ years, not sure how he is not more knowledgeable. I am so upset we got stuck with him as I have been looking forward to this experience for almost a year. I recommend visiting but not with this company for fear of getting stuck with Jeff. read more

unfortunately it was a drizzly and cold day for a walking tour but our guide Kevin made the weather almost forgettable. the 2.5 hour tour ended up lasting 3 hours, so do beware if you are running a tight schedule. we met with the group just outside of the Radius Tours office at Hofbrauhaus Platform 32, and made our way to Marienplatz and around the old city centre. Walking tours are free, but "pay as you like" to the tour guides - this makes the guides much more inclined to give a good tour. Having lived in Germany for 5 years, Kevin knows the ins and outs of this city and is able to recommend the best places to eat, drink, and buy. He delves in history just enough to offer a comprehensive understanding, without drowning you in dates, and is able to provide you with fun background stories for things that your guidebook may never mention. best of all - he will offer you tips on things like the best timing for filming the glockenspiel jousts so that your time isn't wasted :) having participated in the 10:15AM tour, he was kind enough to show us around to his favorite deli in Viktualienmarkt and have them prepare enough food for a quick lunch stop. the tour was truly enjoyable and without a doubt I would have left Munich with only a fraction of my understanding of the city. read more

New to Munich. Get a tour. The Radius Tour and Bike office is near tracks 32-34 at the main Hauptbahnhof Train Station in Munich. They give tours in German, Spanish, and English. The tours range from a free 2 hour "here's Munich" (you're to give the tour guide some monetary tip based on how you feel he's/she's done), to a beer and food tour, a bike ride through Munich, and one day trips to Dachau, Salzburg, Mad Ludwig's Castle, and others. The tours are helpful in understanding the layout of Munich and getting over the "I don't feel conformable about the U and S bahns". If you want to rent a bike and go off on your own, I believe they will accommodate that as well. They have recommendations for places to eat, places to buy touristy things, places to avoid, but are not pushing any of the establishments. Feel free to ask them any questions during and after the tours. A tip to the guide afterwards is appreciated. The "free" 2 hour introductory tour of Munich is more of a "here's where this is and why it's here and here's where that is and why it's here". The here's are buildings, museums, tourist places, special streets, markets, and other places that you can make a point to return to later on in your visit. We visited a lot of the sites that mark where many influential events changed the world as we know it. For our honeymoon in Munich, my husband booked two tours with Radius tours: beer and food tour and the Neuschwanstein castle. Both tours were fantastic! Beer and Food Tour: Our tour guide was Roland and he did a wonderful job navigating our group through Munich while also providing great information on the history of beer. Neuschwanstein Castle Tour: Our tour guide was Austin. This tour was probably one of my favorites of the entire honeymoon. There was so much history that I didn't know about regarding the castle and Ludwig II and Austin did a superb job of explaining it all. He also did a great job by orchestrating our group from train to bus and from bus to train. I would say the tour in the castle itself (not run by Radius tours as the castle is operated and maintained by the state) was a little disappointing. We were fortunate enough to receive the audio tour--however, the employee who would start and stop the audio tour would give no notice and would randomly start the audio without telling people. So a lot of the information was lost unless you plugged in your own headphones into the audio tour stick. All in all, I will definitely suggest Radius tours to my friends and family for a great experience. read more

He knew a ton about the history of the city and the festival, and he stayed with us the whole afternoon to entertain us! He could not have been more gracious and friendly. I took the Radius beer tour. Probably the most fun tour I have ever done. We started at the train station across from track 33-35. I would go early as it is tucked away around the corner. We met our guide, who was originally from Belgium. His name was Ewen, Even or something. He told us that if we could not remember his name, or get it right during the tour then call him "Sir". We tasted lots of beer and went to several locations. The food was great as it fit the history of the beer. The real fun comes from having the right group of people who do not know each other get together and click. We had people from Chicago, Texas, Iowa, Norway, Scotland, and other places on the tour. I think we all had a great time. At the end of the tour, "Sir" tells us that it is his first tour with the company. You would never know it based upon his excellent knowledge and control over a bunch of drunk people. He did say he had worked a number of years in the business. I highly recommend this tour if you are looking to know the history and culture of the city. You will also get some really good beer. read more

This was a great way to see the Neuschwansteim castle! Didn't have to worry about train tickets, got to skip the line at the castle, and had a nice little intro to Ludwig and the castles history. We took a walking tour to learn about the Third Reich in Munich, and we were glad we did. We walked the streets and visited the places associated with Hitler's ascent to power, and it was quite educational and intense. Our guide Kai was very knowledgeable and answered all questions the tour particpants had. We got the sense of history that lead up to the worst catastrophe of the 20th century. read more

We stayed 4 days in Munich and used Radius tours each day! The first we did the Dachau Tour, followed by Nueshwenstein castle (spelling may be incorrect), then the bike tour through the city, and finally finished with a day in Salzburg! We just loved these tours because they were conducted in English by native English speakers. Each tour guide new every answer to every question. If you want to see the city of Munich, I recommend doing the bike tour as we felt the city was too large to travel by foot, and we were hesitant on using the undergrounds because we do not know German at all! So the tour gave us that opportunity to see the whole city! The one regret we did have is that we didn't do it on the first day so we can orientate ourselves on the city. Dachau, the castle, and Salzburg were all great! The city of Salzburg was amazing and the tour points out the major places you can visit and then let's you roam free. Same with the castle, along with a tour inside the castle! Defiantly recommend radius tours to anyone English speakers or not!! read more

We did a tour of the Dachau concentration camp with Diana in December 2014. Not an easy visit to lead, but Diana was exceptional, very knowledgeable about the history of the place but also very respectful of the horror that occurred there. It was snowing when we took the tour, but Diana was great at improvising when our trains were cancelled. It was a haunting tour but she did a great job. read more

We booked through Viator website " Neuschwanstein Castle - Small Group Tour from Munich" which was conducted by local Radius Tours , Munich. We did tour in 1st week July 2016. "First of all it was not small -group, there were 24 people as opposed what stated limited to 15 people, tour guide was not professional, no name tag of his or his company, tour was suppose to depart 9.30 am, he left at 9.18 am, as got people with on site booking, same day, samteime, didn't waited for people who have booked in advance, as we reached there 9.20 am, and he was not there, was told by staff , he is already in train compartment, though train did not depart till 10.30am, when we reached there difficult to locate him as he was without his or local company name, we liked for him in 2-3 compartments, when we located in inside a train compartment and gave our confirmed voucher/ticket , he said sarcastically we kicked you out, but if you want to go, sit that side, he appeared unprofessional, tried to be funny rather giving interesting and important information to tourists , He speaks english but difficult to understand. - worst tourist guide so far. The other aspect, substantial time of this tour takes time in transportation - took about 4 to 5 hrs of total 9 hrs tour, on return change of train, took another 30 mins, standing in hot sun waiting for train. Tours would be better by direct bus to save time to visit and know about place. Place itself is worth to visit and to know about it history, artitecture and surroundings. read more

Very bad experience with this travel and tour agency. We had a tour from Munich to Nueschwanstein castle yesterday, the tour was very disorganized and poorly planned. Time management was bad... they rushed us through the tour but wasted four hours of our time in train and train stations...we had to be stood up on our feet for a two hour ride back from the castle to Munich as they didn't have reserved seats... the train was packed and no seats for us...the worse came when they told us to buy dinner in the middle of the way to kill time and delays... they offered to buy us dinner from a very low quality grocery store in which we bought Sushi and my son got food poisoning and we ended up in the hospital all day long today... if it was not because of bad planning and horrible time management of this tour, this would have not happened...! I could go back and file a lawsuit against this ridiculous company... really really bad..:( read more
