We met our tour guide Jon and 5 others joined the tour as well. The tour price included the fare on the lightrail and bus to get to Dachau. It was really nice to not have to worry about the times and connections. Not that it would have been a huge deal, but when on vacation, I like to worry less about logistics. Jon was very knowledgeable and I am so glad that I did use InMunich Tours because it was nice to have someone talk about the key points of the Dachau Memorial. We started in the city at the roots of the National Socialist movement and then proceeded to Dachau before ending up back in Munich. Taff used artifacts and his jolly personality to engage with my son and me in a way I haven't seen before. Usually these kind of tours are pre-packaged and bland. Taff found a way to make history live for us with little known facts about sites and memorials that would be hard to find with another tour. It is beautiful during the day but it is very pretty also at night as the area is well-lit and the statues and buildings look quite a bit different. It's always clean and well-kept and is open and a nice area to sit and enjoy the day or people-watch. We entered this time from the English Garden and walked through the gardens of the Munich Residence as well before coming through here on our way to Marienplatz and beyond. Ozzie did a wonderful job of taking us to places of interest, explaining the history and context of each location, and teaching us how to immerse ourselves into Bavarian culture. I've always known my ancestors were from Germany, but after taking Ozzie's tour I knew more specifically that they came from Bavaria. Back to Ozzie though, you can tell he loves his city and he loves Bavaria. You can't help but fall in love with his outlook on life and his city in the process. I don't often say this but this is pretty much a must-visit if you're going to Munich for the first…read moretime. It's in the Alstadt so the museum is not hard to get to. The museum shows the Bavarian royalty rather vividly. You will need at least 2 hours to see all the exhibits, if not 3-4 hours. This is assuming that you won't be listening to much of the audioguide entries. The audioguides are thorough and informative, but you will be spending a lot more time in the museum if you listen to many/all of them. The museum, as you can infer, is vast and chock full of stuff. While the rooms themselves are numerous, you still have exhibits with their collections of dining ware, furniture and furnishings. The tapestries are beautiful as are many of the rooms. The rooms seem endless at some parts. The good thing is that there are "off ramps" where you can shorten the visit and head towards the exit, but if you want the full experience, be prepared to spend a lot of time. The treasury part of the museum, which is separate but adjacent, takes less time (you could go through it in less than 30 minutes), has some nice exhibits. The highlight is probably the crown and swords. Staff at the entrance and around the museum are generally informative and not intrusive. The benefit of this museum, unlike many in the city, is that it's open on Mondays, so you can save this museum trip for that day.

It was built on the old site of the NSDAP headquarters and in front there is a square with the name of the museum idealizer. Next to it are also ruins of the party headquarters building. The museum was rich in history & information; it was very worth visiting.. It was a little tricky to find the museum. We walked past two old Nazi era buildings. Inside the modern new museum, the first floor contained a Cafe and we got our map. we left our backpack in a ground floor locker. We started on the fourth floor and worked our way down in chronological order ending with stories told from survivors. Many newspaper articles were presented, propaganda photographs, sculptures, and films brought this era in history to life. It was a very moving hour and a half visit. We could've spent a full day here if we read everything that was posted.
