The 94/93 (to Grand Place) tram stops are only a block away, and the Carrefour Express Vleurgat (a local grocery with a wide selection of ready-to-eat/drink options) is about the same distance. A short walk north on Avenue Louise to Chaussée de Vleurgat and around to Place Albert Leemans will provide you numerous options for restaurants (see review on Le Bugatti) and pubs. So, as far as location, I was quite satisfied. The hotel is quaint, and the staff was quite friendly and accommodating. I had e-mailed the staff prior to my arrival requesting that a clothing iron be available in the room during my stay (a trouser press wasn't going to cut it), and was pleased to find it waiting for me when I checked into my room. My room was situated on the 8th floor with an eastward view over Avenue Lousie, which was nice, especially being able to open the balcony doors to let in the breeze. The rooms are basic, but clean, well-maintained with a comfortable bed. For simplicity on our arrival day, we ate dinner at the restaurant in the lobby. Finding a table is never issue because it seemed like no one was ever down there. The food was good and satisfied what we were looking for. They offer a daily breakfast buffet for about 24€, but we never tried it out. I generally just walked to Carrefour for any breakfast items on the way to the tram. Overall, a pleasant experience with a very accommodating staff. Should work take me back to Brussels, I will likely opt to stay here again.

The check-in was extremely smooth and they were nice enough to hold our suitcases throughout the day while we explored the city. Here are my favorite parts of the hotel: - The breakfast is absolutely incredible. Think 4 different kinds of eggs and fresh-made juices where you can literally see the pulp of the fruits. I think my favorite thing every day was putting the fried egg and mackerel in the perfectly crispy bread roll. Also the orange juice was just to die for as they literally have an orange juice machine squeezing fresh oranges. - I appreciate how environmentally friendly they are. The bottles they use for shampoo and body wash are 100% reusable and if you don't ask them to clean your room that night, they give you a €5 voucher to use on one of their other shops. Whether or not I got the €5 is still a mystery but I very much appreciate that idea. - The staff here is incredibly accommodating. The lights in our room were not working and neither was the phone to reach the front desk so they immediately helped us change a room. The new room we switched into was far bigger than our old one, which was such a nice gesture of them. - Everything in this hotel is incredibly new. The whole decor is very modern, so is the showers, which makes it a very great stay. - Free water and free wifi. I don't know what else I can say. I feel like if a hotel has these 2 things, it automatically gets a one star boost no matter how the experience went. Overall, absolutely fantastic stay at Thon Hotels. Will definitely be looking out for more of these hotels in the future in my European travels. Cannot recommend this place more.

I had a room on the top (7th) floor, which was odd because the elevators only went to the 6th floor and then you had to take stairs up. That was fine, but just a bit odd. The room was clean and simple with a small table to work at and decent bathroom. I also got to check in early, so I could actually grab a shower and nap after my redeye flight, which was very nice. The restaurant in the hotel was well-above-average. Breakfast had a nice selection of scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, and a few vegetables. I had dinner one night where I had Octopus, crème brûlée and Chimay Blue beer. All of which were very good. The location was also convenient to my office, most of the European Commission buildings and some basic touristing.

Service: I was greeted, acknowledged for my status tier and was told that an upgrade was available but that the only difference would be the addition of a coffee maker and welcome amenity. The aforementioned was provided to my non upgraded room. I opted for the $10 daily food and beverage credit, to which the Front Desk Agent was able to provide for two. The Room: it was standard and comfortable but that was about it. The biggest drawback was not being able to lower the in room temperature to below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Even with the heater unit off, the room still felt extremely humid. At one point in the night, and I was woken up to my friend attempting to open the windows that were sealed shut. Even coming back in the evening after a full day of exploration, the room still felt extremely warm. We had phoned the Front Desk and an agent came to our room promptly to address the situation. Initially the agent felt that the room should cool down if we leave the heater unit off. As the room still felt extremely warm, and the agent unable to guarantee that the room would cool down; we were offered to change rooms. And so we did. The Morning After: well, the new room also felt extremely warm throughout the night. Upon my departure of the hotel, I was told that unfortunately the temperature settings cannot go below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, as it is normally much colder in January and so the heaters are meant to negate the colder temperatures. Not the greatest answer to hear as much of night was sweaty. The hotel served a purpose for my time in Brussels but that I may not stay here again in the future.

What I didn't like was the smell of tobacco smoke. I'd asked for and thought I'd booked a non-smoking room but this room has a definite mild to moderate tobacco smell about it (I considered giving it just two stars because of this). Anyway, there's enough space in the room, good cupboard storage and the bed seems comfy enough. They don't have in-room tea or coffee, but there's a machine that's free for guests to use down in the lobby/dining area. So you have to be presentable for when you want to grab a coffee late at night! I needed an iron to press some travel-crumpled clothes, and they promptly sent one and a mini ironing board up to the room, so the service is ok. The in-room safe was locked in the open position and couldn't be used when I arrived, but they sent a maintenance guy up quickly to fix that as well. There are no toiletries to speak of in the bathroom. Just a wall-mounted liquid soap dispenser in the hand basin area and the shower. I don't like these things, never did, and no shampoo or conditioner. No clock in the room either (but I always travel with a battery-powered one). The WiFi is free for guests, but a little slow for my purposes. Seems to work okay but I've had some dropouts and long waits. There's a tram stop at the door, or you can walk to Louise Metro station in about 7 mins. Otherwise there's not much else around the hotel to look at. I did find an "Carrefour Express" mini-supermarket less than 100 m down the road so I was able to buy some things. Brussels centre would be around half an hour's walk or more from here, but I'll probably take the Metro if I can figure out how the ticketing works. The Royal Palace is also about a 20 min walk, judging from the map and my little midnight excursion to the Louise metro station (jetlag gives me weird waking hours). The best thing about the hotel is the staff. They're cheerfully helpful and take the time to deal with any issue or questions promptly.
