I've been in Winnipeg since Sunday and I stayed at the Radisson Hotel Winnipeg Downtown. I ended up with a one bedroom suite, which was great considering I spent four nights there ... I appreciated having lots of space rather than being cooped up in one room. It was really cold outside and I had the heat turned on fairly high to keep the room warm ... I found it odd that there were two big chairs in front of the window blocking the heater so I moved them to the corners out of the way and it made a difference. The heaters were pretty good but there was a really cold breeze coming in under them. The king bed was comfy! The bathroom was huge. I loved the tub and used it every night ... it was deep and comfy! I'll miss it! The hotel is downtown so close to restaurants, shopping, the Winnipeg Jets hockey arena (next door), the Forks, etc. There is a Starbucks on the lobby floor and a restaurant on the 12th floor (I didn't check out either). A newspaper was delivered to my door every day. My room had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc. There are laundry facilities and a fitness centre on the 13th (aka "T") floor. I used the treadmill in the fitness centre a couple nights and it was okay. Self-parking, which is what I did, was $15/night and valet parking was $20/night. The parking building is attached to the hotel. WIFI is complimentary. I found it spotty and inconsistent. Sometimes it was speedy (in the mornings) and other times it was non-existent (in the evenings), which was annoying (it made it hard to get work done). The water pressure in the shower and bathtub were amazing! Jill AnnMarie checked me in on Sunday afternoon and she was very helpful.

Traveling for business, I believe this has been one of the best hotel experience I have ever had. Clean, comfortable king size room met & exceed expectations. However it was the staff that truly influenced this 5star rating. From front desk staff, to management, to housekeeping - everyone went out of their way to assure I had a wonderful stay, engaged in pleasant conversation. They checked, checked and doubled checked in with me to see if there was anything they could do to improve my stay. Wonderful extras - Starbucks in the lobby, great views of the city (west facing room provides for amazing sunsets), business services and meetings rooms, centrally located to the Human Rights Museum, trails, restaurants, free shuttle services that do need to be booked but will take you wherever you want to go. This being a $20 savings if traveling by taxi from the airport (20 minutes drive). All at a very reasonable rate. Highly recommend when visiting Winnipeg. Will be back.

Stayed at the Radisson Winnipeg while attending an NHL game, due to its close proximity to the MTS Centre. While being "connected" somewhat to the MTS Centre, I booked there specifically to be able to walk to the event from the hotel and not needing to find parking downtown and being able to walk to the arena while staying indoors, as the temperature was well below -30c. Unfortunately they lock all access to the walkway that leads into the MTS Centre due to a lack of security or personnel. This could easily be fixed with keycard access to the walkway for hotel guests as opposed to just closing it off completely to everyone. The rooms themselves were clean, the staff were courteous and helpful and it's location to the MTS Centre is hard to beat if you are travelling to Winnipeg for an event there. The room size itself was ok, a little on the smaller size, which for a Radisson brand hotel I was a little disappointed. Finally, the attached multi-level parkade requires attention as you enter or exit the facility as the turns are quite tight and ceilings are low. I have a light duty truck which fit, although it was very close in the turns and with the low ceilings especially with a lot of snow packed inside the open parkade.

They brought me hot water and an assortment of tea. Thank you!! ( and no charge) Some unpleasant things We found the bed very soft ( and prefer firm bed). They have some rooms with firmer tempurpedic mattresses, but they are above and below an event space that had events planned during our stay and the staff said people report they hear the party When a room opened up after parties were done they did not remember to give to us, though they said they would When we returned for 1 night, they DID assign us a room with a better mattress (219), though it was not tempurpedic. It was more firm. We are in an adjoining room (338) and the person next door is showering and blowing their nose nonstop. It's like I'm right in the shower with him. Other guests also complained about hearing entire conversations from the rooms next door. Excellent location as it's a quick walk to The Forks for food and entertainment, plus the river walk area for running, skating, walking or biking.

It's clear that the current owner has tried to update the place to look more like a Motel 6 than what this beautiful building should be. Cheap renovations and tacky Target bargain furniture and light fixtures have stripped this place of its charm and history. All of the beautiful wood in the unit is painted white now and the hallways are a horrible and depressing dark grey. The furniture is cheap and over sized for the rooms. Room 619 had a bed so tall we had to ask to switch rooms. The front desk suggested they bring us a step ladder instead. Seriously?! We finally switched to 808 which had two regular sized beds that were a normal height and we didn't have to be watched as we went to the bathroom. Not sure why washrooms that face other units don't have window coverings! There are absolutely no amenities in the rooms. No fridge. An $8 plastic bottle of water. A Nespresso with coffee only. You have to ask for tea if you want it. Toiletries in the bathroom need revisiting. They're the same ones from 2010 from L'Occitane; tired, dated and horribly scented. More hotels have switched to more sustainable and options but here, you will still get a shoe mitt and shower cap. One bonus was two robes in each room. There is a small gym but no access to a pool. You can pay $12 next door. Apparently yoga is included, but no one told us about that upon check in for our weeklong stay. The wifi didn't work after the first night and staff weren't overly helpful about it. At $252 a night, this is not what we were expecting. Had we known how downhill this place has gone, we'd have opted for the Holiday Inn. Parking is $22 a night and the front entrance is permanently occupied by crowds of smokers. It's absolutely disgusting. This place is for sale so we really hope that the new buyer will help bring this beauty back from the depths of sadness.

However, the parking lot is very small maybe 15 cars would fit in it. Your parking is not guaranteed. If you go out for dinner and the parking lot is full you have to park on the street even though you paid for parking. Parking spots cannot be reserved. The fact that it isn't very clear on the website and they can't guarantee parking for such a large hotel is disappointing to say the least. I told the front desk I will not stay here again. It should be noted that the lot is heavily monitored, and you can be towed from the lot if you're not registered with the hotel or a nearby business. The room is large and clean.

Granted, this was after being told they were going to upgrade us to a river-view room, and then when we went to get the keys to move our stuff they took that back saying they didn't have a non-noisy river-view room. We did manage to get spots in the parking lot on the following two nights, but only barely - getting the last spot each time. They have less than twenty spaces so you need to get lucky. Honestly outside of the specific things I've listed I liked everything else about the Mere. However, would I stay here again? No. Even the "quiet" AC room they moved us to was still noisier than I'd like, and the parking situation is abysmal. When I'm vacation I shouldn't be having to game whether it'll be okay to drive somewhere because I might not be able to park again when I get back.

Bonus points that you can reach the next door Elephant and Castle pub without going back outside. Lobby Starbucks had an actual barista but not breakfast food. Lobby restaurant opens for weekday breakfast from 7-11am and serves pretty good food. Rooms are ok but lack extra amenities. Bed and pillows are comfortable so that alone was almost worth 4 stars. Wifi works well. But closet is tiny. There's no safe. Toilet paper is sandpaper. Toilet itself had flushing issues. Gym is tiny without many machines. Smells of chlorine from the pool next door. Parking is simple, all the way down on the basement on the "green" level - nice thing about parking down there is the car is warm in the morning! I appreciate the electric tea kettle in the room. Club on 12th floor is solid - I like there is attendant there for breakfast. Breakfast is decent: pancakes, croissant, scrambled eggs, sausage links. During the day that are soft drinks, chips and cookies. Again always very clean. Friendly service all around & and Elephant and Castle in the same building. I am a fan!!
