Located in the Kluvvi district with Ravinsoplat station steps away and Kampii about a 10 minute walk. About 10 minutes walk to the Christmas Market and add 5 minutes to get to the Harbor. Check-in was quick and seamless. They asked if I wanted to have the room cleaned daily-nice so you don't have to deal with hanging signs on the door. I got my request for a room on the top floor-yes! My King room had a partial city view and was facing an office building. Room came with a Safe (with a built in Outlet for devices -which I haven't seen), mini fridge and iron. Woodwork for the Headboard and on the ceiling made for a different and unique look. Outlets were plenty with USB ports. Breakfast was available for 14 Euros and they have a restaurant (Bistro Vilholn) attached. Had dinner one of the evenings and would recommend. Sauna (separated for M/F) was a good size although the Gym was a small one. There is the option to go to a much larger Fitness Center close by. Taxis arrived minutes after being called. I saw a Piano in the back seating area and lounge. Would highly recommend for Staff that provided exceptional service, location, restaurant and amenities. read more

Top two hotels I've stayed at in Helsinki. The rooms like others in the city are pretty tight but at least the room felt updated. The reason for the high praise is because the breakfast is by far the number 1 I've seen here. Just massive spread of anything you could want. Fresh juice right when you walk in. Was honestly blown away comparing it to the other hotels in the city that I thought were already quite good. The staff is friendly and it's in a great location. Would definitely recommend here or the Radisson Red close by, which has much more updated rooms, but not as nice of a breakfast. read more

Visited recently for new years. We arrived late on our flight in to Helsinki and didn't reach the hotel until almost 1:30 AM, but we had no issues with check in. The person at the front desk - I can't remember his name - but I believe it started with a "K" was great. He helped us check in and provided so many local recommendations as well as recommendations for northern Finland and Estonia which we were also visiting. The room was clean and had ample space which was good for repacking and organizing luggage. We did book a room with a sauna but the sauna did not work until the second evening. We told the front desk here and they said housekeeping would be up to fix it but they didn't come until I called again. This was quite disappointing. We also had been out all day and expected to come back to a clean room but housekeeping never serviced it. I'd say these two items were the biggest flaws, especially as we paid extra for a room with a sauna and we didn't get to enjoy it too much. It was great once it finally worked. Otherwise, everything was great. The tv had English channels, bathroom had toiletries and large towels + robes and slippers which was nice. The bathroom also had a tv visible from the sauna. The temperature of the room and lighting was controlled electronically, however, the temperature kept increasing at the end of the night even when pressing the down button which was also frustrating. Breakfast here was also great with fresh fruit, veggies, juices, and smoothies. It was a large spread with variety and felt so healthy compared to hotel breakfasts in the US. Overall, I'd say this is a 3.5-4 star place. I'd definitely stay again but I wish it was a bit cheaper given the issues we ran into. Or I hope the amenities such as the sauna and temperature control would work. Lastly, the wooden overhang on the bed is a little odd and one of the lamps on it was not centered which bothered me but that's me being nitpicky. read more

Found this place had the best rated breakfast buffet in Helsinki. We had to try it! As with our dinner the night before lots of unique items on the buffet. Service was so great and the gentleman that helped us was hilarious. One thing about Scandinavia are that they take their yogurt very seriously and so many toppings to choose from. Got to try a lot of items and were impressed with all but the sour weird tasting milk drink. A little too authentic for my taste buds. For sure would return to this place to indulge in their breakfast buffet again as they mentioned that the main items change on a daily basis. read more

I stayed here two nights and it was very enjoyable. It is very close to the city center and railroad station. The building is hard to spot and the architecture for the buildings on the square look very similar. Leaving the train station, walk across the square past the bus stop and it is on your left at the far corner of the square. Look for the Mexican restaurant as it is across the street. The sign is a little hard to see from the square and the entrance is further down the street. Hotel is spacious with plenty of space in the lobby to sit. There is a little outdoor space to sit but it was a little cold in April to sit outside. The hallways are a little dark which I thought strange for a hotel. My room was on the top floor where I had a nice view of the street in front the of the hotel. I could see part of bus plaza from my room. Room was comfy. I thought the bed was a little high to get into. Bathroom was spacious. There was an USB outlet to charge my phone. More rooms are including them which I think is great. Only complaint and I did not mention it the front desk was that there was no luggage stand in my room. If it was there, I never found it. The safe is above the refrigerator so makes the interior of the safe warm so beware of of locking heat sensitive items. Also, there is no dedicated table to sit if you need to do some work. Their is a small table next to the bed but it is not very big. The breakfast was one of my favorite breakfast buffets on this trip. They had a nice selection of items. They had the traditional made to order omelettes to some local Finnish items which added a nice touch. I had dinner at the hotel my first night because of a sign indicating their specialty in Finnish cuisine. I decided to here in the hotel restaurant my first night and was glad I did. The meal was very delicious paired with a local beer. Be prepared though as it was not cheap. Overall, this hotel was a great location for sightseeing around the city center. read more

This was my first time at the Radisson Blu Plaza. And it definitely will not be my last. For openers the hotel is located in the center of town which puts it in walking distance of everything; restaurants, pubs, shopping, public transportation (did I mention pubs?). Upon entering the hotel it has a contemporary feel to. The lobby is very spacious a very nice bar area located behind the check-in desk. The staff was very friendly and prompt in welcoming guests. The check in process was quick and painless. The elevators are located near the check-desk which made them easy to find. Upon entering the elevator, a room key is required to operate any of the buttons. Upon arriving on my floor I immediately noticed the hallways were sufficiently lit. One cool thing about the hallways is there are lots of tiny spot lights shining from the ceiling throughout. Room numbers are located on the floor in front of each room and are illuminated. More about those a little later. Once in the room the contemporary feel continues. My room was nicely decorated with white finish and wood accents. The room contained a very nice flat screen TV (~35 inches). The room had a very nice integrated media center which allowed me to connect my iPad for music throughout the room. The hotel also had a nice jazz playlist that made for great listening. The rooms come equip with room darkening window treatments (required for the months of ~24 hours of daylight). The bathroom was nicely stocked with fluffy towels and the usual assortment of soaps, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There were robes and slippers. Now back to those illuminated room numbers (what can I say, I'm a nerd/technology geek). Upon arriving my room number was purple (my favorite color). Inside the room is a knob that changes the color of the room number lighting. Want your room cleaned immediately, turn the knob to that setting and the lighting changes to green. Don't want to be disturbed (for whatever reason) turn the knob to that setting and the lighting changes to red. (As you can tell, it doesn't take much to amuse me...I need to get a life) The hotel also has an amazing sauna that is must when traveling internationally. The only disappointing part of the Radisson Blu Plaza was the 'gym'. After all the other great things I was expecting a much nicer gym. The gym was basically a couple of guest rooms which contained a 2-3 treadmills, a weight bench, dumbbells and weight machine (which was out of commission during my stay). If you're ever in Helsinki definitely check out the Radisson Blu Plaza. I will stay there again on my future visits. read more

Looking for a comfy place to rest my head during my sightseeing visit to Helsinki, I selected the Radisson Blu Plaza after reading some pretty good reviews. The central location of the Radisson Blu is hard to beat. It's just about 2 blocks from the Central Railway station in Helsinki. And if you're coming directly from the Airport train platforms, there's a side street that's a nice direct shortcut to the Radisson Blu. Many of the Central Helsinki attractions are within a kilometer walk of the hotel. My primary interactions with the staff were check-in/check-out and breakfast of which both were good. On arrival, I beat the check-in rush and was able to check in with the general manager in about 5 minutes. He was friendly and informative and almost wouldn't let me leave without letting me know about all the amenities. But hey, I'd rather the staff be engaging than not. Breakfast was included in my booking so I took advantage of the breakfast buffet in the morning. The host staff greeted me and served coffee along with a breakfast "shot" of a local juice; a blend of lingonberry and cranberry juices. It was quite tart but I energizing perhaps? The buffet spread was excellent and I have to say they had one of the biggest selections of a "non-resort" hotel property. There was a complete spread of breads, fruits, cheeses, local meats, pastries, porridges, various Finnish dishes, and "American" items. I giggled at the label of "American Pancakes" which had to be the thickets pancakes I have ever seen. I believe there were at least 5 varieties of butter. How can you resist butter in Europe? The room itself was quite comfortable (and clean!). The bed was a bit high but quite comfortable with no shortage of pillows and two nice twin duvets for this King size bed. That way, your other half doesn't get to hog the covers. There was ample storage space including a small bamboo closet and dresser. I also liked a decent amount of "navigation space" to move around the room without feeling cramped. And of course, the most know.....the WiFi was blazing fast! I didn't watch any TV but there's a nice size flat screen TV mounted on the wall. There was a decent suite of adapters on the bedside for HDMI and USB ports to integrate with the TV. Alas, there is no international power port so be sure to have your European plug adapter with you. I did find some of the light switches a bit confusing to navigate but eventually got the hang of it. By European standards, the bathroom was a decent size with a large sink and big shower/tub combination. I always appreciate a hotel bathroom with generous counter space which the bathroom did have. I personally don't want to set my toiletries on a toilet! All in, I had a great stay the Radisson Blue Plaza Helsinki. There is another Radisson Blu in town so be sure to check which on you'll be staying at. For a short 36-hour visit to Helsinki, this was the perfect spot to recharge my batteries and get a great hotel breakfast. On top all the good things about this hotel, it was free (well I used a reward night)! read more

This hotel is truly in the middle of the city. Some people might like that, but I prefer the less central and more iddylic parts of Helsinki. The hotel charges are pretty high, so that really raised my expectations. And they were met to some point. The rooms are great, nice design and spacious enough. The hallway has the room numbers as a light projection, supercool. You can swith thre color to red if you do not want to be disturbed. The lobby and restaurants look very nice too. Major disappointment was the gym, which has one machine of each, so only one treadmill to run on. Very poor. read more

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Plaza for a few nights while in Helsinki. It's older than some other hotels, but has a lot of character. The only thing is that the hallways were really dark - I wish there was better lighting. Some great things I found about our room was the master light switch by the bed and there was a USB plug! This is super helpful since not everyone might have enough power converters if traveling from outside the EU. My favorite thing was the breakfast! Hands down - when you're reserving a room here, make sure you get the breakfast as well. It's a full blown out breakfast buffet that has a hot buffet bar that contains hash browns, bacon, eggs, the regular stuff, an omelette bar, yogurt bar, and tons of bread and pastries. There's also a fancy juice/tea/coffee station and you are offered a multivitamin juice shot at your table. Love love loved it! read more

I spent 6 nights here recently and I would stay again. Atte, staff member, was especially kind and helpful on checking in. My only comment/suggestion is to ask that the lounge in the breakfast promptly start at 7a and not later. Usually arriving at 7a, nothing appeared to be ready and full-speed at best was 7:15a and even then can't find coffee and cream, staff disappeared, etc. read more

Room was clean and comfy, staff were friendly to help and all for a very good price.
