What was unusual was that you didn't wait for your number to be called after ordering from the kiosk. Here you went up to the counter with your receipt and then your order was assembled. I can't recall that being a thing at any other Costco but that is apparently how they do it here in Gypsum! In our chatting we discovered that the owner is a lovely woman who is married to a fellow Chicagoan and owner of the store next door to this one. We couldn't resist stopping into his store for a chat. He was equally lovely and we had a great time with him.
