I went for my annual mammogram today. It was actually a great experience. I was taken in within…read moreminutes of my appointment time. The technician who administered the exam was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised and totally impressed by the robe I was given to wear! Certainly not the typical paper or thin dressing gown I expected. It was a soft, comfortable, cozy robe that I would expect at a spa, not a medical facility! Simple upgrades like a plush robe make the visit much more pleasant. I think I need one for home!

I've been under the care of Dr. Battsford (now retired), & PA Ryan Donovan since my first ICD was…read moreimplanted in 2007. Since then, between these electrophysiologists & my regular cardiologist, I've had what's been described on different occasions as "remarkable improvement" and "almost unheard of improvement" in heart function. I've had two implants done, and the technician who did the manual download on my most recent visit, said that within 3 days, the "low battery alarm" would have started beeping from this one. Glad I asked about it. She disabled the alarm that would have been both annoying for me to hear, and embarrassingly difficult to explain to strangers hearing it, (LOL, it sounds like a European police siren, though not very loud). Time for a battery replacement! The whole gizmo actually gets changed. It'll get done in a month or two on an outpatient basis in Yale-New Haven Horsepistol (Hospital).

Met with Ryan Donovan yesterday for a follow up re Afib. He was dismissive in his attitude. I am…read moredoing well but instead of expressing that he made me feel like there was no reason for me to be there. Which should be a good thing and as he asked if I had a cardiologist I could have been referred to one . I had a good experience with him last time so was surprised at his over all lack of interest. I don't expect much and am grateful but leaving feeling like I was seen only in relation to my ekg results felt a bit dehumanizing. I'm tired of accepting treatment that isn't good because everyone is busy etc. etc. The nurse was very kind and friendly and still got everything done quickly.

She made sure I was comfortable and talked me thru the whole cat scan which took at least ten minutes as I had contrast too. She has no idea how much she made a difference. May she be blessed. Worst experience I have ever had at a medical facility, including the time I almost had my leg…read moreamputated. With the exception of one nurse who walked me to the 2nd of 3 different buildings(!) I had to go to to get 1 MRI, I did not encounter a single worker who was not smug, condescending and inconsiderate. Every request was phrased as a demand, every decision made for me. When I apologized to the MRI tech for being anxious to get off the table at the end of the test, I said "I'm sorry, but my ankle with the metal plate and screws in it was killing me from holding it in that position." Her response "Thats something you should have told me." To which I reminded her "Actually, I believe my exact words before that last set of test was 'I'm in a lot of pain from holding this position." I was met with complete silence. Now, Yale-New Haven is obviously a great hospital. And I'm sure that for actual patient care, this is where you want to be. But if you're just having some tests done: go literally anywhere else.
