The next day after my consult I had the surgery with sedation. The nerves were high on my part but I was put to ease by Melissa and Dr Tricker. I was there over an hour but it felt like 15 minutes! No pain or swelling or bruising afterwards. One week post op for a followup and then monthly for three months to make sure the implant is healing and healthy before I see my regular dentist for the crown. The procedure initially went well, however while waiting for the initial treatment to complete I heard an audible pop from the treated tooth and experienced significant pain. Dr Ankrum was unsure what had happened, and his only solution was to delay completing the procedure another two weeks and to prescribe another course of antibiotics. Now several weeks after the procedure is complete I am still having intermittent pain in the tooth. I am going to have to find another endodontist to review the work, and hopefully one that will bill a reasonable amount and stick to the agreed upon fee.

No calls. No email. No mail. No reason for me to think I owed them money. 3 years later, I need emergency oral surgery, for which I had to wait a week for a consultation. A day before the consultation the receptionist called me and cancelled the appointment due to small unpaid debt. She was fairly rude about it in a "bless your heart" kind of way. I asked if I get it squared up with their lawyer could we keep the appointment. She said no, and that they would have to get verification that the payment was made and after that it would be the surgeons decision whether or not to accept me as a patient. I immediately called the lawyer and paid the amount. They said that they were notified and tried to reach me at an old address. They never attempted to call. They never attempted email. They said they would let Roanoke Oral Surgery know the amount was paid same day. I might be a weird edge case, but at this point, I feel like Roanoke Oral Surgery mishandled the situation and I question their administrative competence. I am going with another provider, even if I have to wait longer. 0/10 - Do not recommend.

My brother had to go to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and have the tooth extracted under general anesthesia. Then he was placed on a ventilator in ICU for two days after the surgery. This infection spread so quickly he actually had the infection come through his face and had to have a drain sutured into his face to continue to drain the infection. Thanks to Roanoke Memorial ICU team and the wonderful oral surgeon and ENT that did the surgery we have our brother back. Please do not put your life in the hands of this incapable surgeon.
