Edited review to 2 stars. I am a senior, retired, living on…read moremy own with a fixed income. A tree fell on one end of my house causing damage to the roof, exterior and interior damages. The roofing company general manager came and surveyed the damages once the tree was removed.I was told they would meet with the adjuster. The adjuster's estimate was divided into each separate sections of repair. After giving them the insurance estimate I asked for an estimate from the company. I was told the insurance estimate was their estimate, to ensure the only out of pocket expenses I would have would be the deductible. We signed a contract for the amount to be paid.I was told they would take care of everything, all the damages, and working with the insurance company, that I did not even need to call the insurance company. So, I left everything in their hands. This company failed me.There was failure in not following up with the insurance company to confirm what my policy covered. No confirmation the adjuster had any information on my specific policy. The general manager asked him if the insurance company covered a specific coverage, which the adjuster only confirmed the insurance in general did provide that coverage, but nothing what my specific policy would cover.Upon researching, the insurance does not give the adjusters any policies. Adjusters assess damages and submit estimates. With the correct information of my policy coverage, I had options. But since the roofing job was performed under the assumption I had coverage I did not have, I had out of pocket expenses. The money alloted for the other damages than the roof had to be paid wholly on the roof, then some. The roofing company did give a credit for the other damages not repaired. But, with the work I had to pay them not covered by my policy, that credit just went toward the extra work. With the correct information I would have had options, the option of having just the damaged roof repaired, not the whole roof, which was recommended by the insurance adjuster. But, I was under no obligation to replace the whole roof at this time, the roof was not leaking, plus the present roof was only 9 years old.I could have the roof replaced, as I could afford to replace it. Other problems occurred, one of the workers missed walking on a rafter and his foot stepped thru the roof into the bathroom. My daughter stated he laughed after stepping thru the roof, very unprofessional. The ceiling their contractor repaired has begun to break down with the finish starting to peel, and brown spots appeared. The contractor used a hair dryer to speed up the sheetrock mud to dry so he could make sure to finish the repair with one trip. Requests to repair took over 3 months for the work to be scheduled. He stated he forgot. I told him I would take care of it. The electric meter mast was hit by the tree being pushed forward, pulling it partially from the wall damaging the overhang, and causing the lines to go slack from the electric meter mast to the power pole. This left a dangerous situation due to not knowing if any damage was inside the house. This damage should have been the first work to address before a new roof was installed. Instead the new decking, underlayment, and shingles were installed with the damage not being repaired first. Another failure. After I paid the roofing company the out of pocket expenses, I requested a material list, amount and type material, cost of each, and labor costs. I was told they do not give information in that manner. I received only one line descriptions with a total cost of each.I was told that was their detail invoice. Another failure. I received very limited good customer service, ceiling showing poor quality repair, unnecessary out of pocket expenses due to failure to follow thru on my policy, no final inspection of the roof once finished. Therefore no discovery of the damages not repaired before being covered with new roofing. This has been a very stressful, most unpleasant, experience during my 40+ years of home ownership.A hard lesson learned, it will not happen again

Our roof needed a quick repair due to shingles blowing off in a storm. Southern Guardian,…read moreparticularly Andy Broom, came out promptly and right on time! He was friendly and professional and got the job done for us just before another big storm. It is very clear why these guys were rated Best of the Best. Highly recommend.
