The quality of shoes they bring in is amazing to say the least. My sister has lived all over the world and when she comes to visit, she never leaves without visiting Thompson's! Actually three stars is considered a positive review and not a negative one at all. I love to support local Gaffney, S.C. places of business! My evaluation of your fine store is that it's a mixture of boutique and shoe repair. Only my opinion; but this doesn't address a tremendous need in downtown. If a man or lady wants to purchase everyday footwear, they mostly have to go Walmart, Shoe Show, or to Bargain Shoes. If you could carry a good selection of Skechers or complete line of tennis shoes and advertise them at somewhat competitive prices, I believe along with your current offerings, you'd have a big winner! I'd be a customer myself as I'd much prefer to buy from independents than chain stores. One big advantage that you already have is the avoidance of congested traffic such as is found at the previously mentioned stores! I upped my review to four stars because of your obvious passion to your business and I Thank You for responding to my review. If you are looking for quality shoes, you will find them here. They have a wide self styles, brands and sizes. Most of them are over $100, so don't expect cheap. But they are quality shoes, so that makes sense. The people who work here, and even the owner, have been less than pleasant to interact with. I went in asking for a very specific shoe that I found on their website but they didn't have it. The guy helping me was totally out of his depth and had to ask for help. They looked in their system and saw that there were some in stock in one of their stores, but they'd have to call around to see which one. So, a system upgrade which says where their inventory is located seems like a good idea. Generally, with only one exception over a year ago, the employees have been pretty clueless or just not interested, or both. I wrote the owner about participating in our church auction and never even heard back. So, seems like it's a systemic issue. At least in this store. I went to the store in GVL and they were more on the ball and more personable. They have some good sales now and then, so getting on their list is worthwhile. Overall, a good place to find well made shoes (and some interesting clothes), but just don't expect high end service with a smile. That ain't happening here.

That's when I found Empire. James, the owner, was so helpful and knowledgable. Pushy salesman make me feel really uncomfortable, but James is nothing of the sort. He treated me as though I was an old friend stopping in to say hello. The prices here are very reasonable and far better than any department store around. I was able to purchase two quality suits (and had them altered) all in one shop for an incredible price.
