I sent emails on: September 13 September 26 September 30 October 14 November 4 Emails sent to two separate emails and never received a response. I also called and left two messages asking for a refund during this time with no response. I'm not sure what's going on with this company but they kept $480 tied up for three months. Multiple attempts to contact vendor unsuccessful until Dec 2022. Vendor assured order would be fulfilled within 2 wks. No product received and subsequent attempts to contact vendor unsuccessful. Order now 7 months overdue. Car is not usable as a result. It is clear Rack Doctor can not fulfill their obligations and have never had any intention to do so. Ordered a rack a long time ago last year in 2021. I assumed things were going to be slow but on my timeline I was hoping to have the rack in two months. I emailed and got a response a week after I submitted the order and finally got a response after a month saying that the rack was under rebuild and should be shipped out two weeks later. No biggie because that fit my timeline. No updates/response for another two months until I randomly get an email saying that my rack is shipped. I called/emailed saying not to ship it because I already found an alternative because they took too long. I was luckily able to get a refund within the week. 0/5 on recommending. Their lagging on the product/communication itself makes me doubt that they'd honor their policy to refund the deposit. I don't doubt their abilities to get the work done. I just doubt the communication and being able to get it done in a timely manner. I understand there's issues but with little to no communication and a component that is major to a vehicle, most people can't afford to wait 3+ months for their product. I suggest the owner puts a disclaimer on the website for like 3 months minimum until the product is shipped so that people know what they're getting themselves into. read more

Ordered a steering rack from them, and their automated email includes the "covid" excuse for being behind, so I already was a little irritated as that is not much of a valid excuse anymore (was two years ago). About a week and a half went by, and I called the business as they do not offer any sort of tracking number, etc. The man on the phone was very polite, and informed me that the person who makes the steering racks is out right now because he broke his ankle. I feel if I would have not called there would be 0% follow up on their part and I probably never would have received my part. I was told they were running about 2 weeks behind because of COVID but that if I sent my old rack in they would rebuild it and send it back in 48 hours. I was a bit confused at this point, I asked and they said "we have backed up orders sir, other customers who have ordered already are ahead of you". But how can I jump them if I send my rack in to be rebuilt? So you're telling me it will take 2 weeks to take the part that you already have in stock, already rebuilt, and put it into a box and ship it. But if I send you my rack in you will rebuild it, ignore all the other orders and ship it back to me in 48 hours? It was at this point that the lady on the phone said "you know what if you want to order it do it, goodbye" and hung up on me. Its pretty easy to see that they don't actually have these parts in stock and are drop shipping them from somewhere else. I've seen other people mention that in the reviews as well. They forgot to include the return shipping label on the box for my rack and pinion. The thing that I can't deal with is that there was a core deposit and I sent the rack back in within a week of getting it and I have never seen the $100 core deposit back. This is the most un professional company I have ever dealt with. I ordered a rack with SPEED-SENSITIVE STEERING. They sent a steering rack without the sensor for speed-sensitive steering. When I called they were very rude and told me there will be a 25% re stocking fee!!!! I asked how in any way would that be my fault that they sent the wrong rack when i supplied the full vin and stated it had speed sensitive steering. Not remanufactured. We got a rack and pinion for a 2000 jaguar XJ8 vander plas To replace our leaky rack and pinion. Took it to a professional to install it. They called us the next day and said this one was leaking worse. They took apart the one that was received from Rack Doctor and upon further investigation found it was a used unit not rebuilt. So now we have 2 leaking rack and pinions. We are now going to have one of the units rebuilt by a professional shop. Costing us 3 times what it should have. I am surprised this company is still out there. I feel obligated to tell my experience with this business, so other people can make right decision. I ordered a rack from Rack Doctor in early 2020. I made so many calls to check the status, and was told every time it would be delivered in 2 weeks.Finally after 6 months, I received the rack. Then the nightmare started. I had someone to put the rack on (if you are familiar with Audi A4 B6 3.0l, you would know how hard it is to put the rack on). Everything looked good after it was installed. However after starting the engine, the power steering fluid poured out of the boots, the reservoir was empty in a couple of minutes. Called them many times finally got some one to talk. He did not admitted the problem. After arguing they did send me another rack. When I received the 2nd rack, I found the copper pipe was kinked. Started calling them but was unable to reach them. Fortunately someone was able to fix the kinked pipe. The 2nd rack was installed and looked good. This was the end of the story. After a couple of months, the rack started leaking. Now I have to add some fluid every few weeks. BY the way they did not return the core deposit. read more

I sent them back the core exchange and the tie rods i ended up not wanting since i just wanted out of the transaction and they have yet to give me my refund for the core and tie rods. Three years ago I bought a rebuilt steering rack for my 2003 BMW 530i from the Rack Doctor. The cost was around $250. I couldn't bring myself to pay $1500 for a new rack and my experience with used and rebuilt steering racks from the local auto parts stores has not been good. I really liked the lifetime warranty. That and the price sealed the deal. The rack was installed by a private BMW-trained mechanic. He replaced everything except the power steering pump but flushed that out well. The car performed well after the replacement. It has now been three years with no problems. I'm a happy customer. When I need a rebuilt rack for one of my other cars, this company is where I will turn. read more

I've heard really good things about Rack Doctor and I'm hoping the business is going to continue to offer affordable high quality rebuilt racks. However, I had a poor purchase experience with little to none communication in regards to estimated ship time, and when I reached out to ask when it would be shipped after 4 weeks of waiting to multiple emails and tried calling the phone number associated with the business I hadn't gotten a single reply. I ended up having to request a refund and that was approved by the company within 48 hours which I am thankful for. I will definitely try to buy from them again but unfortunately my first experience was not good. I order a rack for my 4Runner in October from this company that was highly recommended a number of forum members. After placing the order I found out from the confirmation email that he was running two weeks behind. I figured that was standard these days so didn't think too much about it. After three weeks ami sent an email and received no reply. I called every day for 5 days until the owner finally answered. He gave me a story about a biking accident and that he was sorry and would have my rack moved to the top of the list since I was only one state away and I should have it by the next week. At the end of the next week, no rack. After a number of phone calls he finally answered and said that I would have it by the end of the week. That came and went. After many calls again, he said that she was shipping it out today and I would have it Thursday. On Friday am, I got him on the phone again, and he said he had to wait for a valve that came in yesterday, and that it's finished and in his hand and is going out today. I told him I need tracking and he said I'd have it within a few hours. Never happened. If he told me at the beginning that he couldn't handle the work, he should be honest. I could have ordered another rack elsewhere and had my car back on the road weeks ago. He took advantage my trusting nature and I feel dumb for believing this man. Absolutely horrible experience, be warned!! Ordered a rack from them a month ago. On their website it say that they ship within a day or two. The moment I place the order I get an automated email of a 2 week shipment delay. None of that is mentioned on the website before you actually pay. I waited to 2 weeks, hear nothing. I email them to confirm order status - nothing. I tried calling, finally reached a live person after about 10 call attempts. They said my rack will be shipping out the next day. A week later still nothing. Clearly the person on the phone just made up a quick answer. In general it is impossible to reach a live person. I left several voicemails, no callback or response. My car has been down for over a month now and at this rate I don't believe that I will ever get my part. If they are having business issues and can't deliver product, they should put that on their website, not waste customer time. The fact that they have absolutely no respect for customer's time makes me question their quality and as well. I feel I need to write an honest review to help people if they are in search of a great priced rebuilt rack for their car. I have a 98 BMW 528i that the original rack went out on at 177k miles (not bad for the original.) I ordered my rack and it shipped across country in exactly the 5 days they said it would take on their site. I started installing the new rack and was able to get the old unit out and inspect it and start to get the new unit in. I ran into an issue getting the steering knuckle splines to match up with the new rack splines. I called up Rich at Rack Doctor and he let me know exactly what I may be doing wrong which in a few minutes of applying what he said I had the splines matched up and we were on our way. Everything installed perfectly and the car is turning as smoothly as ever. What would have been a 1200 dollar fix (from a shop) was only 309 minus a 100 dollar refund on receiving the old rack, plus a 50 dollar alignment. The shipping box was great and return shipping of the old rack was a breeze with the included UPS label. If you are able to replace a rack on your own I'd recommend these guys! read more

I purchased an e92 m3 steering rack that I had to spend nearly $1300 on but part of it was the core return. I called for weeks and emailed them but got no response at all so I did a charge back on the card. Next thing I know I get a voicemail saying they have the rack in house and ready to ship but they need me to call about the chargeback. I didn't call because I didn't want anything to do with the company anymore after I got my money back. Well they still sent the steering rack to me despite knowing I did a chargeback for not receiving the product. They disputed the chargeback and my card was charged again. I shipped it straight back to them and it was delivered to them on august 8th. It is now October 24th and they still have not sent me my money back or helped at all. They kept telling me that they only do refunds once a month but it has been well over 2 months and still nothing. They also just keep making random excuses every single time. All I wanted was a rebuilt steering rack and now I'm out of $1300 and don't know how to go about it other than small claims court. If you're considering buying from them.
