This place is truly amazing I have a 2001 Lexus RX 300 that needed a replacement rack and pinion I went on a lexus form and they came highly recommended I got my Pinion from them but unfortunately the one that was sent was defective I called to get a replacement and the transaction was easy and the new one that I got works amazing! The staff was super friendly and we able to answer all of my questions and concerns. Not sure why the past reviews were bad but I will tell you this that they take pride in the products they sell and you get a lifetime warranty! RUN far, and RUN fast! SCAM!! I waited over 3 weeks for just a tracking number! Called them numerous times and each time they would say they would be sending it out within the next 2 business days. Well, that never happened. I finally gave up after 4 weeks and asked to have my money refunded. Probably a blessing in disguise, honestly. Yes, there are some good reviews on them...but I suggest you dig a little deeper and read all of the reviews. Many complaints on being sent the wrong part, shipping taking extremely long, and dealing with rude customer service 'representatives' as well as the owner. NO THANKS! read more

Will never do business with again. Purchased rack from them and while it did arrive in a fairly timely manner it only lasted 2 months till BOTH seals blew out and started leaking power steering fluid all over the place (had an ASC mechanic install it BTW) . While they did offer to replace the rack (after I sent a "deposit" for full price of another one to be refunded upon their decision of whether is was actually a warranty item or not) they wouldn't cover any of the installation costs. I finally found (after talking with the owner and him showing me where) in the terms and conditions where they state they don't cover labor but it's buried. Very poor way to conduct a business on an obvious defect in their rebuild ability. Basically they sold me a bad part and told me to get another part (possibly bad again) and put it in on my dime AGAIN. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY AS FAST AS YOU CAN. I'm writing this review about purchasing a rebuilt rack and pinion unit from Rack Doctor's website. My Reason for Using Rack Doctor: The rack and pinion seals in my 2000 Kia daily driver began leaking. I perform my own mechanic work and am trying to keep this car on the road a while longer, and I usually purchase parts through Napa Auto Parts. However, I know that a rack and pinion swap on my car is a terribly involved, laborious job as far as my car goes, so I wanted to make sure I would only need to do the job once. I spent hours online researching different remanufactured brands and found some troublesome information. Apparently, Napa Auto Parts and O'Reilly Auto use Cardone as their remanufacturing company, and Auto Zone uses ATSCO. These rack and pinions vary in price by store, but they were all between $210 and $250 before the core charge. Both Cardone and ATSCO rebuilt rack and pinions have more bad reputations than good for leaking according to the many online forum posts and reviews I read. I came across the remanufacturer Detroit Axle (aka Dearborn Axle) with the lowest price I could find, but their eBay feedback had many complaints about leaking rebuilt rack and pinions. Then I found Rack Doctor who had the second lowest price I could find at $148 including return shipping for the core and a lifetime warranty. I found little online feedback about Rack Doctor and didn't find anything troublesome, aside from some arrogant BMW owner whining about how he ordered the wrong rack and pinion and blames Rack Doctor. So I came to the conclusion that my chances of receiving a quality rebuilt rack and pinion were probably best going through a smaller shop like Rack Doctor instead of a huge-volume remanufacturer such as Cardone or ATSCO whose quality control and attention to detail are questionable. Ordering Process and My Impression of the Product: The online ordering process was easy and straight forward, and I was able to add the $18 Fedex return shipping label to the order. USPS quoted me $50 for the same service, so I recommend getting the return label through Rack Doctor. The package arrived within 7 days. The rack and pinion had plastic shipping protectors over the tie rods and steering shaft, was wrapped in a plastic bag to keep out debris and to keep in residual power steering from assembly or testing, wrapped in cardboard, and then placed in the box. The power steering feed and return line bosses had removable plastic plugs to seal the unit for shipping. The rack and pinion looked like a quality rebuilt unit. I now wish I took pictures for this review, but I was greasy and preoccupied with getting the new unit installed. The rubber boots were of a good quality rubber, the tie rods looked either knew or at least had been refurbished with new zinc coating and lock nuts, the steering shaft splines were perfect, the attached hard lines were undamaged, the housing had no dents or corrosion, and the paint looked like Rack Doctor had properly prepped the old surface. I found no over-spray on parts, flaking paint, beat up lines, or pitting or damage to the housing like I have seen on other rebuilt rack and pinions that show shoddy work and shortcuts. I was satisfied enough to install the unit, making sure to flush the power steering reservoir, pump, and feed/return lines first. The unit's steering position was also centered enough to where I had to adjust the tie rods only 1.5 turns to center the steering wheel, which I took care of when setting toe-in. Returning the core was easy enough. The return shipping label and inventory tag were included in the packaging envelope, so I packaged the unit like I had received the rebuilt unit in the same box and dropped it off at Fedex. I'm waiting on my core refund and will update once I receive it. The Product's Performance: As of now, I have put only 30 miles of around-town driving on the rack and pinion, so I will update in the future to give people a better idea of the rebuild quality. Currently, I notice no issues. The steering is nice and tight, operates smoothly, and makes no unusual noise. The Reason Why I Give 4 Starts: Both the cardboard the unit was wrapped in and the shipping box had a crushed and cut area from where the steering shaft plastic protector cut its way through during rough shipping, so I think the packaging could have been better to protect the unit. read more

Let me start off by saying stay away from this company really bad customer service, this is the wrost company I ever had to deal with. So I purchased a porsche 944 rebuild rack and pinion from the website on 07/17/20. On 07/20/20 they called me saying that they didn't have the rack in stock and that I can send my rack to them so that they can rebuild that one. I told him ok, I also mentioned that I had rebuild the rack myself cause it was leaking from inside the boot but after rebuilding it was still leaking, and also told him the car had a chevy 5.3 engine swap. He said that maybe the different pressure in the pump might have cause the leak but he can check it out. On 07/29/2020 he calls me saying that one of the aftermarket lines on the rack had arrived broken and ask how I wanted to proceed. I asked him if he was still able to rebuild the rack to go ahead and ship the broken line back with the rack cause I still had warranty, he said yes but that he's going to have to make a line to test it. I asked what he found wrong with the rack apparently I installed the seals backwards causing the leak. I received the rack, installed, after first drive I notice that the power steering fluid level had gone down but didn't see any visible leaks. Wasn't able to drive the car for over a month due to it getting painted. After getting painted I drove the car again then noticed the power steering level was low again. Checked it out, found inside the boot there was fluid. On 09/11/20 called to tell them that it was still leaking, he said that pump makes too much pressure but send over the rack to check it. I did some research on the pump pressures and found out that the pump doesn't make enough pressure and that alot people raise the pressure without any issues. On 10/05/20 I called him to get an update, notice that he received the rack 09/17/20 but hadn't called me for an update. He told me that one of the fittings on the rack broke and was afraid to work on it cause he might damage the rack trying to remove it, and that I use synthetic fluid which swelled the seals. I told him that I didn't use synthetic fluid then said that he can smell synthetic fluid. So I told him to take a picture of the fitting, he said ok just email me and I'll reply to the email with the picture. On 10/13/20 I called cause I never received a picture no one answer. On 10/14/20 I called twice first call no answer, second call he answered but the guy working on the rack had step out and will give a call back but didn't. On 10/16/20 I called twice no answer both times still haven't received pictures of broken fitting. On 10/19/20 called again answered and said that he would send the picture. He called back saying he wasn't able to send the picture cause he was having issues trying to send it even though he did send me a message saying "test". Asked when exactly was he going to tell me that the fitting was broken cause he received the rack on 09/17/20 and I had to call him for an update on 10/05/20 he said very rudely that he called me and told me that the fitting was broken and that I use synthetic fluid even though he told not to, synthetic fluid was never mentioned until I return the rack to him after he rebuild it, and synthetic fluid wasn't used. Asked me how I wanted to proceed I told him since he can't fix it and has been bs'ing me all this time to return my rack and give a refund. Again very rude he said no im going to send you the rack disassemble and hanged up. So later that day I received a refund and tracking number notification. A few days later I received the rack disassembled and with a bunch soda can tab opener in the box. Also missing both inner tie rod boots and few washer for the fittings. Also the broken fitting he was afraid to remove cause he might damage the rack was broken at the nipple so you are still able to remove with a socket or wrench. I purchase another rack and installed on the car drove for a few days already with no issues so far. read more

This is my experience. Your mileage may vary. Day 1 - Placed order around noon. Web site says item is in stock and they strive to ship with 24-48 hours of order. Day 4 - Sent email to get status. No reply. Day 5 - Call to get status. Order has not shipped. Day 6 - Call to get status. Order has not shipped. Day 7 - Call to get status. Leave voice mail. Day 11 - Call to get status. Told they placed order with a different company to send me the part and was drop shipped. Could not provide tracking number. I knew nothing about the other company and my car had been idle too long so had local dealer provide part and install that day. Day 12 - Order arrived at 6PM from company called Accu-Drive. Day 13 - Shipped unopened box directly back to Accu-Drive at 9AM. Day 18 - Accu-Drive receives returned part. Day 19 - Although they do nothing but have my order shipped from another company, they refund $198.71 and keep $66.23. Stated this is a 25% restocking fee which is in their terms and conditions. Day 20 - I reply with the following reasons as to why I returned item: - Your web site said item was in stock - Your web site said (in bold and underlined) that you strive to ship in 24-48 hrs and are usually received in 5 days transit (based on core return timeline). You ordered and had someone else ship on day 6 and item was received on day 12. - Your web site talks about the 20 years experience and pride and quality of "your units manufactured in house at your facility". My product was drop shipped from a third party company called Accu-Drive out of Maryland. - You mention you have costs in doing business and reference terms and conditions. The terms and conditions are buried in fine print at the bottom of a page and are not even on the main web page. You also have an obligation to meet the customer expectations you set on your web site. Those are implied terms and conditions of which none were met. Day 21 - They reply with the following reasons as to why they did what they did: - Our website did not process the order - It was missed - It was human error - We're a small business - You got a direct reply from us whereas a big box store would not - We have costs to throw away clamps, use test fluid, power consumption, etc. - Customers remove parts like inner tie rods - Customers steal parts from our units and return them or damage the unit on installation and claim they never used the part "never opened is the claim" - You would have been happy with the unit and the customer service - To keep our prices down we simply cannot afford to pay for others errors - We are already losing money having made no mistake - We shipped exactly what you ordered - My coworkers don't work for free and want to get paid Then he refers to a bible verse Proverbs 20:14. This verse suggests that I am telling him all the problems with his business just to get the price reduced so I can brag to others about how great a deal I got. So basically he's saying I'm trying to con him. Funny thing is I never said anything about the $66.23 he charged me or the additional $18 to ship the order back, all for doing nothing more than placing a call to another company and making himself the middle man. I found out my rack n pinion was bad , only place that had it in town was dealer for 1400.00 so i checked online and found rack doctor thank god. i only paid 300.00 and it shipped fast and sent back my core for the 100.00 deposit i paid on top and they credit it back fast also . I've had two racks from them go bad in the past 3 months. One was bad out of the box (massive fluid leak from the seals, coming out of the boots). The other one has developed slop in the actual gear assembly due to improper setup (not enough preload). After dealing with a very rude customer service rep on the first rack replacement, I'm just tossing the second rack and buying from someone else. Stay away. read more
