Mind you we visit many, many, many taco shops across Southern California, Tijuana, Ensenada and Mexicali. Of all those, this does take the top spot as of today. We used to go to a tried a true taco shop elsewhere in Mexicali, but it had been shutdown for some time and on our return it just wasn't the same. We came to Fuerte based on the recommendation of many in our family, and it did not disappoint. We had the carne asada tacos, which is what you need to get here. We did also try the quesadillas, but beyond that we just dove into the carne asada tacos. Tortillas were great and made on site. The carne asada was tasty and full of flavor, and the condiments they lay out all added to our delicious midnight meal. We liked the carne asada tacos so much we didn't get to try anything else. So we will try some of their other offerings next time out.

The "Tradicional" is the meat with its consome "juice", The "Dorada" is the same meat, but fried and served dry with the consome served on a cup seperately. Both are good and recommend them, I myself like the "dorada" style. Either way, just make sure you get the consome, it's what has all the flavor! They have quesadillas with meat, they too where good! Enjoy!

Fast food tacos!…read more Quick fast service, a nice plate of sauces upon seating. Very packed and loud but to the point and functioning. The good was the service and fast pace of this place The bad is the food and fast pace I ate the meat but didn't enjoy it as much. The carne asada wasn't even asada. No grill marks didn't taste fire cooked and was grey. The pastor was better. The maíz tortillas were so hard and dry it only led me to think they make the tacos way before hand and place them on plates upon ordering. The meat wasn't even hot. The only good thing is all the sauces they provide you with to hide the food flavor and rehydrate the tacos. Very popular place so they will survive regardless of food. Get flour tortillas they were similar size of the corn and were soft and made sense on the bite. The corner were rubber like

The service is very slow and for some reason, we were told cash only the night we went but we were able to pay by card another day....

Sunday morning and the wait was 1-2hrs for a table of about 15ppl. The service was friendly and attentive. We were asked to leave our coffees outside as you can't bring in outside food. We understood and walked around the premises. The ambience is definitely family oriented. You can hear the chatter of different tables. The grounds have different vendors selling Mexican goods. We visited in April and the weather was perfect. Our first visit was in June and it got hot quick but still a nice experience nonetheless.
