I would like to start off by saying that the ladies I have dealt with on the phone at Quality…read morePropane have always been polite and helpful. However, I pre-paid 750 gallons at $1.79 gallon on 10/21/2013. In January, they partially filled the tank using the $1.79 rate. Today (2/7/2014), I called for a fill and they stated that all pre-pay contracts have been canceled. The new price is $3.899 and that they would have to deliver a minimum of 200 gallons. Although they owed me 550 gallons, I think I could get by the rest of the winter on another 100 gallons if there really is a shortage. They also stated that if the priced dropped before they could deliver in the next two weeks, that i would NOT get the lower price -- I would be locked into the price at the time that I ordered the gas. I do not see how they can cancel my pre-pay contract because of a supply issue, and not honor a price drop if I order now and propane is cheaper in the next two weeks before they deliver the gas to my home. I called Amerigas Co. and they did not cancel pre buy contracts, but they are not taking new customers because they needed to be able to take care of current customers. I called Advanced Propane on 2/7 and they quoted $3.09 per gallon, but they are also not taking new customers. Apparently, I cannot switch companies at this time. The canceled contract, higher than market prices, and the unwillingness to lower my price if the market price changes before my delivery definitely makes me feel that I am being gouged. I plan to update this review if I can reach a settlement with Quality Propane. However, I have provided the information below on how to file a complaint with the State Attorney general if you feel that you are being gouged. http://tn.gov/consumer/PriceGougeCmplnt.shtml or by phone at 1.800.342.8385.
