Oh, what a night! I…read morewas kindly hosted by my work for a company event and we had a blast. this is a weird location to find though. which may be my only issue. SPIN is an underground ping pong club and night club. This is really a great location for large groups, tournaments, get-togethers. heck i would assume if you got married in the area it would make a great after party venue as well. They have multiple bars, and elevator access plus a coat area & multiple smaller areas for private parties. There were at least (5) parties along side ours. We had an offering of a 3 hour open bar, tapas dining, larger plates for flatbread, charcuterie, and various snacks. The staff walked around offing appetizers, while the main plates we stationed about. I thought it wouldn't be a feasible options however with about 75 people we nibbled on everything! The bartender was crazy efficient. considering within (2) hours she was by herself tending to 50+ moderate drinkers. my personal fan faves of the night were the mocktail she made us! it's like the drink of the year. no, you dont get the recipe. move on. i forgot what it was called. Now let's get to the most important part of the night: the raspberry follipop tartlettes that i took probably a dozen home in a little box. i literally had to find out where these things are from because they could have served us crack and it would have been less addictive. There is not a single place in philly you can get these things from (at least as of this review). i am DISTRAUGHT. They aer sold mainly in texas so these were a real treat! lastly, silliness aside, i would like to give a huge THANK YOU to our host and her crew--Kayleigh (forgive my misspelling). they ran a tight ship on our group, our food and the drinks. by the time the DJ started the dance floor --opened up and we move to the upstairs bar. Her entire crew set the whole room back up like we were never there. overall this is a great new venue and really a good move for philly nightlife culture.

Went on a Friday night for a CHOP-sponsored event, and the place was lively. There are plenty of…read moreping pong tables, so it never felt too crowded or hard to get a game in. One thing that really stood out was the complimentary coat and bag check, such a nice touch and made everything feel easy and well-organized. We ordered a charcuterie board to snack on. Some parts were good, like the hummus, which was smooth and flavorful. A few of the veggies, though, seemed a little less fresh than expected, like the carrots and cucumbers, which were softer and a bit dry instead of crisp. The pita was also slightly on the dry side. It might have just been an off batch, but worth noting. Service overall was very attentive. At times, dishes and drinks were cleared a bit quickly--especially while I was in the middle of playing ping pong--but it really just reflects how prompt and on-top-of-things the staff are. On the flip side, they also help collect stray ping pong balls and keep buckets refilled, which makes the whole experience much smoother and more fun. Overall, it's a great spot for a night out with friends. You're really coming here for the ping pong and the energy, and on that front, it definitely delivers.

The current exhibition on Shaker furniture was interesting, but I can see how it's not for everyone. I appreciate what they're doing at the ICA, I just wish there was a bigger permanent collection on display. Shoutout to Juno the welcoming cat.

We stopped by on our visit to the University of Pennsylvania to specifically see the Joanna Piotrowska: unseeing eyes, restless bodies We didn't think we would spend as much time as we did here, and I loved both of the exhibits. There are two gallery spaces, the first one held "Where I Learned to Look: Art from the Yard", with the curator and several artist being from Texas. I'm not sure I loved it because there was a Texas connection and also Baltimore screen art, but I really enjoyed art from a yard perspective. Fun contemporary art and a Koons piece. The second story held the second exhibit: Joanna Piotrowska: unseeing eyes, restless bodies. She's a Ukrainian artist, and I really thought it was going to be something different but it was a really cool exhibit. I have never seen carpet and space used this way before and her art evoked both fear and whimsy and awe. I love this museum and the fact that it's really quaint - obviously the experience you're going to have here depends on what exhibits are showing, but I had a great time here overall. It's completely free so if you're ever by the University of Pennsylvania, I highly recommend you stop by.

A true Philly gem!…read more I came here with 2 of my nieces and we had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We were greeted at the door and then taken to our table. As I took in the sights of the establishment, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and the decor was minimalistic while the table setting was luxurious yet refined. Oh, and the music that was playing set the tone perfectly. Because you select your service (and pay for it) when you make your reservation, there was not much that was required of the staff however, our waitress Tayla, brought some samples of tea to our table for us to smell, which helped each of us to decide on our tea. I ordered the Afropunk, one of my niece's ordered the Lemon Ginger and the other ordered something that had "pureè" in the name; I did have a little taste of each and enjoyed them all but the Afropunk was my fave. The light fare that was served was surprisingly filling - I enjoyed all of what I ate and I ate EVERYTHING. My nieces ate everything also but they didn't care much for 2 items that were served. I purchased The Baring - High Tea for us, which was a 90 minute experience and the timing was perfect... By the way, the location of the salon is perfect and parking was easy to find. Overall, I had an excellent experience here and can't wait to return!

We requested no pork before we arrived as a dietary restriction. Ms. Leslie and her team took very good care or us. I had the Ginger Lemon Roibois Tea, My companions had the Wakanda Tea and the Kenyan Black Tea. We arrived early for the 1 pm Seating. Upon entry the tables were prepared with the cotted cream and lemon clotted cream. This accompanied the chocolate chip scone that they said what just freshly baked. They also offered us infused rosemary water. All of the setting was adorable. The little cup the honey came in and thr Tea timer were very nice accents. When the Baring High Tea selections arrived we got a nice variety. I agree with a previous reviewer who thought the curry chicken sandwich would have been better if it was hot and not cold. However, the other savory items tasted good. This included the turkey brie on bread and deviled eggs. The sweet treat spread included brownie, bread budding, lemon tart with a blueberry, pound cake loaf flavored treat with strawberry garnish. A very nice high tea experience and great service.
