Dave Raby, the owner of Raby Roofing, is great to work with. He's very honest, not at all pushy, always returns calls and takes time to answer my many questions ...he's also very patient! : ) He gave me a fair price and excellent service.
Since roof samples are so small, I was having a difficult time deciding on the color I wanted. I had narrowed it down to 2, but still couldn't decide. Dave wanted to make sure that I would be happy, so he offered to bring over shingles in those 2 colors and placed them on my roof. I was able to see how they looked against my siding and I decided on the spot! It really impressed me that he did that.
I also really appreciated that the shingles were not delivered until the start date. So, I didn't have a pallet of shingles blocking 1/2 the driveway for several days! About 1-1/2 hours after starting the tear-off, the shingles arrived and were lifted onto the roof with a crane...a very efficient and time saving operation.
During the tear-off, they don't throw the stripped off roofing on the ground around the house (as many other roofers do), instead, all the roofing is thrown directly into the dumptruck which leaves the yard clean and the foundation plants unharmed. Notice, I said "dumptruck" as opposed to a dumpster which can damage, as well as block the driveway for several days.
Dave doesn't use subcontractors. All of his installers have been with him for many years and they work together like a well oiled machine! They worked non-stop (except for a short lunch break)...no cigarette breaks, no radio blasting, no goofing off. They arrived a little before 7 and were finished shortly after 3. After the job was completed, the entire crew walked around the house making sure there were no nails or other materials in the yard. They left the area spotless.
