Our pet was conscious and able to breathe, so I was fine when certain conditions got rushed ahead of us. We waited about two hours before getting out of the waiting room, and then another two hours before seeing the actual vet. But after 4 hours of listening to your dog wimpering in pain, even the most sensitive and calm people would start to break. I wish someone had at least taken a glance at him and give some reassurance. When our pet was finally seen, the treatment was done promptly. In less than an hour he was returned and we were told to wait a couple minutes for the vet notes and medicine. We waited two hours for those notes. My dog was a miserable mess from the meds, his e-collar, and all his wounds. The lady working at the desk that night was very nice and tried to reassure that we would indeed eventually get to leave. But it is just never something I've had happen at any other format of doctors office before. Usually when places are busy, they do their best to sweep you right out the door. It's this final two hour wait that gets them two stars instead of three. All in all, we were there 7 hours. I would not want to go back, but after hour choices are limited. This place was at least clean and the employees seem nice enough, but I would still encourage your pets not to get sick/injured on a Sunday or a weeknight.

First off, he wait was a ridiculous 4 hours for a place where you need immediate care, and then they make you wait in parking lot and don't communicate anything to you. After 4.5 hours I demanded to see my puppy after being told she still had not been assigned to a doctor. Dr. Traynor came in first and said her condition had worsened and she recommended euthanasia. I was shocked because I had not brought them a dying puppy and never intended to euthanize her! She said she had done a sonogram and she had heart disease. She shot down any idea of surgery saying it would be too expensive and when I said I wanted to bring my puppy home, she further argued with me that she was suffering too much for that. Finally, I reluctantly agreed to euthanasia. When they brought my Olivia into me she was already dead. I pointed out to Dr. Traynor that she wasn't breathing, was cold and her eyes were glazed over and she immediately checked for a heartbeat and said there was one so she had to get the medicine in her before I would object. I was so overwhelmed with grief at that point that I couldn't even function. Later, I thought about the whole situation and it just didn't make any sense. It became obvious to me that they put her in an oxygen cage and simply forgot about her, leaving her to go down hill with no care. I later met with Dr Traynor and the Administrator and got more unsettling news. Apparently they don't document when their patients are treated and could offer my no more than a document that said she was sleeping when I asked for proof that they were monitoring my puppy. The sonogram was never noted on her chart and only diagnosis was heart murmur and suggested treatment was euthanasia, which was the only thing on my bill. Dr. Traynor further admitted that when she was initially admitted to the hospital, someone looked at her and decided euthanasia was the treatment. They further agreed that I should have been communicated with and told 4 hours earlier of their plan, so that I could have made a decision earlier on which would have been to take my puppy home. I drove an hour to their facility because they are supposed to have specialists to take care of heart issues but instead they have vets just out of vet school! Lastly, I had a conversation with Dr. Rob Presley, the Chief of Staff, who assured me that they had always had the best interest of their patients at heart but eventually just wanted to pay me off and have me sign a gag order for his insulting offer! I suggested many changes in order to benefit future patients and ultimately clear up problems but apparently he is not really interested in doing that. I have spoken to many of the negative posters here and they are willing to join my crusade to get Upstate to take notice of their short comings and join in the voice to be heard. I will be taking to the media and animal rights groups to get my story and all of the others out there in hopes of Upstate finally taking notice. He did not have lymphoma and the in Pennsylvania was shocked that another had given that diagnosis. He had a staff infection that had been raging for years because it wasn't treated. He was an excellent candidate for surgery been done years ago. He is currently on a round of antibiotics so that he may have surgery in the future. It is made far too difficult to get an appointment, where you are NOT charged additional charges for a visit, that they can call an emergency visit or an urgent visit even when you are waiting 2-3 days for the visit. It's as if they are trying to make an extra dime anywhere and anyway they possibly can. Again...I have NO PROBLEM with the doctors! Other than the fact that they must be going along with this plan to get every cent from us that they can. I've felt this way for a good while now but our most recent experience led me to write this review. We took our 16 year old boy for a visit because of allergies and itching. Due to his age I had not put him on a flea preventative this summer, nor could they find a single flea on him anywhere! The doctor talked us into putting him on a very expensive flea preventative insisting it was safe for him even at his advanced age so we bought it along with a very expensive injection that was to help with the itching. They said that our other dog, 9 years old, would need to be treated as well so we bought the preventative for him as well. Our bill was several hundred dollars for the medications alone. I normally purchase their yearly preventatives at the Humane Society because they are so much less expensive for the exact same medication but I always feel like they don't appreciate it when you ask to get a required medication filled elsewhere. They seem a little 'out off' by that. So this day I bought everything there and paid the extra cost. I called back very soon after this visit to get a refill on our other dogs' maintenance medication and the front line folks said that they will not give us a refill without an office visit. It just feels strange that they didn't insist on a visit to sell us the other very expensive prescription medication but for a piece of paper - a prescription - a visit is required. He is a rescue with unknown past and has had to be on Prozac for a long time. It's not as if it's a dangerous drug that requires bloodwork or anything. It is the 'front line' folks that you MUST deal with. Maybe they are not the most pleasant of people when it comes to the appointment process or maybe they have been trained to do it this way. Due to a circumstance beyond our control, we live solely on social security now that we are seniors. We are both ill and have several specialists that we pay to see and are on a lot of medications ourselves so money is very tight. We take care of our two babies though!! They are our world! We will pay what we have to in order to make their lives good but it just seems that sometimes it's made harder for folks than it needs to be.

The place is cute, comfortable, and very clean. It was only my first visit so I will keep you updated on future visits with my other French bulldog as well but so far so good. I was lucky to be able to get a same day appointment to see Dr. Jenna Washburn for a new patient exam, she did a skin cytology, was able to provide my dog a cytopoint shot which is what he has been given in the past by his vet for this type of issue, since she saw some bacteria in his skin cytology she also provided us with some cefpodoxine medication for him. I can't thank her & her team for seeing us in short notice. This will make sure the rest of our trip is more enjoyable for everyone. My first impression of the establishment was plenty of parking, lots of open space outside for the dogs to pee, the waiting area was very clean, nicely decorated, & welcoming for your pets. They have a coffee station by the door, and I saw a restroom on my way into our op. Our op was very clean, private, with some pet information to read while you wait, the assistant was very friendly, and very attentive to my dog. Price is pretty much the same that we would've paid in FL. They do ask for a $50 deposit over the phone when making your appointment but it goes towards your bill. Again thank you to the great front desk staff, assistant, and Dr. Washburn for seeing us ! I highly recommend this vet for your pet. Walked out paying $453.78 and still have not received my pet's prescription for her heartworm medication after notifying them multiple times. Front desk receptionists clearly covers for the office manager whom I have tried making an appointment with but only makes contact through email, and signs her name as Crystal, LVT with no last name.
