I made an appointment a month ago to have my expecting pup groomed. I called and gave the due date to the person I spoke with a they assured me that the "ladies in the back groom pregnant dogs all the time" and it would be fine. I booked the appt online with a note that she is expecting. I come on time to appointment today only to get turned away and told she's too close to her due date. I appreciate the concern for my dog's well being but I would appreciate everyone being on the same page so bad information isn't passed along. I wasted an hour this morning coming to an appointment you guys couldn't keep. I asked for my account to be noted. Hopefully the rectify the situation at her next appointment. read more

We went into this location today to pick up some frozen mice for one of our snakes. While we were there, we decided to browse through the reptile selection. I was appalled at the condition at which these animals are kept. The repticarpet (which is awful to begin with) was filthy, several animals were lethargic and underweight. The blue tongue skink was clearly malnourished, bent at odd angles, and I'm really unsure as to if it was even breathing. The animals in smaller cages on the bottom right of the aisle were completely in the dark with no lighting. The chameleons are kept entirely wrong and don't even get me started on the "desk pets". I have never been so disgusted by the way animals were being kept in a store. I understand you cannot give them 100% perfection of what they need but at least make an attempt to care for them appropriately in the space allotted. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

My dad went to buy me a guinea pig for my birthday, and from the moment we walked in, staff were rude. Even though my dad repeatedly said he was buying it for me and him the assistant manager, Naomi, wrongly assumed it was for other kids, refused to sell it, told us to leave, and followed us out very unprofessional and outright disrespectful read more

Worst golden doodle haircut ever. They ask you what you want but don't listen.. DO not take your golden doodle

The most disgusting, dirtiest store ever visited. This place has all the tells of a money laundering pit. There is absolutely no pride in keeping this place clean. This store was not ran like a professional chain retailer. There were massive cobwebs throughout the aisles and on the ceilings. There were boxes stacked everywhere making it difficult to navigate throughout the aisles. If I hadn't promised to buy my daughter a new fish I would have left promptly. We waited for a few minutes and no one ever greeted us. Finally a nice lady said she could help us. Lastly, there were schools of dead fish clustered at the top of vents in the aquarium. We visited this store for my daughter to buy a fish to add to her fish tank. She asked why all of the fish were stucked together, and imagine my surprise to see the aquariums so neglected that dead fish (anywhere ranging from 10-30 per tank) were unattended to. It was absurd. This particular petco is unlike any other I have visited, and I will not return to this location. read more

Sorry excuse for a store. Signed my puppy up for training. Trainer never checked vaccines of other dogs and 2 others ended up getting severely sick. And I mean SEVERELY after the first class. It was then discovered why - a dog wasn't vaccinated in class & got sick. We're supposed to be able to trust these trainers to care enough to do their jobs. Unfortunately Deshawn didn't and showed 0 remorse for it, When brought to managements attention, she blew it off and pushed it under the rug with not a care in the world about this HUGE problem. Assistant manager was very kind, but GM was absolutely terrible. Truly, truly disappointed. Do not recommend this store or ever being involved with these people!! read more

I spent $40+ there and was asked if I wanted a plastic bag for 10 cents. I told the clerk no, I won't be back.

This store needs to train their workers on how to better care/handle their animals. My boyfriend and I watched in udder disbelief as one of the workers picked up the baby rats we were purchasing by their tails which can injure the poor things and mess up their spines. Plus they have matted tails and are dirty and not well cared for what so ever. It is heavily disappointing to see the type of mistreatment this store puts their animals through. read more

This store has quite a few improvements to make. The care for the pets that they do sell is horrible and unsanitary. I recently bought a teddy bear hamster from this location and the poor thing passed within a week. My previous hamster was from PetSmart and lived the average lifespan expected for hamsters (2-3 years). I'm disappointed in this store and sad that my recent hamster purchase was terrible. read more

I was looking to adopt a pet that they had and was treated very rudely. Could not touch or hold animal and filled out an application in which they said they would call back. NO call back!!! I was told the lady who is a volunteer is always very rude and I should contact the manager. Well, I will no longer buy my pet supplies there due to this unprofessional behavior. I really worry about how this rude lady treats the animals. Horrible experience!!! Just adopted a sweet animal at the humane society where the services are humane! read more

I stopped here on a whim looking for a small cat toy. I was extremely disappointed by the inside of this shop. I know it must be difficult to keep a pet store clean, but it doesn't look like they're even trying. The floors were filthy, there was trash scattered around the floor, random boxes everywhere, some floor displays that were damaged and leaning to the side - when I did find the cat toy I was looking for, there were cobwebs all across the hooks for the toys. I felt gross and uncomfortable the entire time and I definitely won't be back. read more

I know this is a smaller store, but I appreciate not having to go far to grab pet supplies when Im running low. The curbside/online service has been great! There is a young man with glasses who works at the store who is always so nice to deal with (although I haven't seen him in a while tbh). Because of another review on here, I want to give high marks to the cat rescue group overseeing the cages at the front of the store. The cats always look healthy and well cared for, unlike at some of the other pet stores around here. The cat group volunteers I've spoken to have only ever been nice in my experience. I imagine you can't touch or hold the animals because there is no enclosure and they might escape, not to mention Covid regulations. I wish the store would add a room like on Woodruff rd, esp since these cats are right at the front door. I will add real quick the dog toy section could be beefed up, but that's not a big deal. Overall, glad to have this store right down the street. read more

For our family I would not recommend we has a Shih Tzu (small dog) for 8 years and went for her checkup and turns out she had a kidney stone but after getting the incredibly expens surgery she was still sick and they refused to give her another surgery to help more. Then after 5 checkups they told us g to at we needed to put her down. totally recommend pet smart over petco. read more

Do NOT go to this location. Especially if you'd like to get a walk-in nail trim, find your brand of pet food, or even be able to navigate a cart around all the stuff blocking the aisles. Over the past month, I have tried to walk-in with my dog four times to get her nails trimmed and all four times the grooming salon has been closed early with someone sitting at the desk not taking customers, or too busy and I was asked to wait about an hour, or just completely deserted. It is complete chaos. There is never the dog food I need in stock, as well as the hay my rabbit requires. It is nearly impossible to go down half the isles due to carts or boxes full of inventory being in the way, and if you're looking for someone to help you in the fish isle, forget about it. It feels like every time I go in this store there is only one employee in the whole place. Management needs to hire more people or maybe they need new management altogether. read more

I've been taking my 2 dogs to this location to have their names clipped and ground for the past 2 years. I had an appointment for today, which I waited 2 weeks to get due to the virus and was turned away because my dog was medicated. She HAS to be medicated and has been every time they've done it for the past 2 years because she is very nervous and shakes uncontrollably and can't catch her breath so it is calming meds that the vet gave me. Nobody at Petco has ever stated that the dog cannot be medicated and I have even told them in the past that I had to medicate her and they did it then. Today we got turned away. I will never take either of my dogs or purchase anything from this location again. I've seen the groomers cutting dogs hair and they are rough which is why I watch them do her nails. BEWARE! read more

I have never used Petco before for grooming, but having just moved to the area was desperate for my Shitzu to have a haircut. She is temperamental having had a tough life before being rescued off the street. Jessie did such a great job with her and had such nice things to say about my dog. Would highly recommend her services. The store was clean and pretty tidy for the holiday season and the staff I met up with were helpful. read more

Simpsonville location: If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The grooming salon is awful. They offer walk in services like nail trimming and buffing (that's what I went there for) but the only woman working in the salon refused. I was told I had to have an appointment even though that is considered walk-in. But first of all, when I was just waiting to speak to someone, the only woman working the salon looked out the window at me with a hateful look and shook her head. Then was a witch with a major attitude, telling me I had to have an appointment even though I was there for services that don't require appointments. I went to Petco frequently to get pet supplies but they lost a loyal customer this week. I gave them a chance even with their low ratings and reviews but now will be shopping and paying for grooming at PetSmart. This location will not last if they don't get new friendly people working there. That woman in the salon has no business working with the public in customer service, she was rude and hateful. read more

Absolutely the worse store!! Poor customer service!! They never have anyone at the register. I went in last week to purchase dog food. I walked to the back of the store and never saw any employees. Walked back to the front holding the heavy bag of food and stood at the register for over five minutes waiting on someone to show up at a register. I continued to stand there unnoticed and eventually sat the bag on the floor to leave when a young girl named Katie came to her register with a smirk on her face. I ask who the manager of the store was and she said " The manager won't be in until after one" I told her I didn't ask when a manager would be in that I ask for the managers name. She said "Amy" I ask for the managers last name and she said " I don't know" seriously!?!? The employees do not know their managers name???? I called Corp office and filed a formal complaint but we all know that's going no where!!! So I will not go back, since it was not the first time I've went in and had to stand waiting to be noticed at the register. There are several other places less than a mile away that sell the same brand, prices the same. Petco may be where the pets go, but humans are ignored and customer service is horrible. Choose another location or store !! Simpsonville Petco needs to staff the store or close it down!!! If they are going to spread the staff that thin they should get a bell so customers can let them know someone is ready to check out!!! read more
