For us, we wanted structure, and Irene presented us with lots of options. I want to highlight her eloquence and her natural curiosity. She asked all the right questions and weaved together an introduction that moved us, and turned a magical moment into something divine. I would recommend her regardless of the particular needs of your ceremony, because I think she has the experience and wisdom to adapt to your needs.

She was easy to work with and provided us clear deadlines for when we needed to give her specific info, which really helped us manage our time and gave us structure. What I loved most of all was that I had full faith Irene had it under control, and for our wedding day, we really wanted to reduce our stress and have fun with it. Irene nailed the assignment! Several of our guests told us after the wedding how much they loved the ceremony. We have Irene to thank for it turning out just as magical as we had imagined!

After scouring…read moreYelp and Google and coming across countless options that were not a fit, we had almost given up hope. Luckily, we discovered Ryan's page about a month and a half out from our wedding! Ryan's officiating services are unbeatable. From the moment we met him, we were relieved that we had someone young, well spoken and very professional. We were asked a series of questions to get to know us, but our conversation flowed so naturally that the questions just answered themselves through our normal discourse. We had many laughs, tears of emotion, collaborative moments, emotional moments, therapeutic moments, you name it! Our meetings felt comforting and genuine and I 100% guarantee that we could not have had that experience with another person. Ryan met with us very often prior to our wedding to make sure that the final script was right. He played well into our fun and joyful moments as well as our romantic side. Great and friendly sense of humor and a neutral perspective. My wife's side is Buddhist, my side is Catholic but his speech respected both sides without issue. He got to know us very well and it reflected in his speech. Our wedding was really small and intimate with only our immediate family present, but somehow it felt as if Ryan were one of us. We wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Highly recommend Ryan!! Thanks.

We met several times in the months leading up, and he took meticulous notes and was always thinking of ways to turn our love into an engaging story and theme for our ceremony. He brought both levity and gravitas, filling our wedding with laughter and warmth the whole way. I highly recommend Ryan to anyone looking for an officiant; he went above and beyond everything we hoped for and truly cared about making our day the best it could be.

We actually thought that given what/who we were looking for, that we might have to hire two separate people to perform different parts of our ceremony. It was important to us that our ceremony have traditional Jewish elements, be queer and feminist, connect us to earth-based sprituality, and be witchy. When we first met with Rebekah to see if she would be a fit, we couldn't believe that we found someone who we both connected with and who understood all the elements of what we were hoping to weave together. Rebekah was generous with her time, taking care to get to know us and learn about our love and our relationship, ways we have struggled, and the ways we have grown. She crafted a ceremony that truly reflected who are separately, as a couple, and as part of a community we hope to support and be supported by. As we were, our guests too were moved and touched by our ceremony and by Rebekah's ability to weave together our values, our families, Jewish tradition, and a connection to the natural world. Rebekah is also simply a wonderful, kind, reassuring, and warm person-- which made it all the more pleasant (especially for two shy people) to go through the process of creating a ceremony together and ultimately getting up together in front of a ton of people we love. She also ran a rehearsal the day before our wedding which was really helpful in making the day itself run smoothly. Her presence on the day of the wedding, even aside from officiating the ceremony, was calming and protective in the most perfect way. If you are looking for an officiant who will listen to your wishes and artfully help you create a ceremony that reflects who you are, I very highly recommend Rebekah.

At our initial meet-up, she spent time getting to know me and my partner on a personal and spiritual level. When we met up again, she presented us with a thoughtfully-chosen menu of ceremony ideas that tied Jewish traditions to our psychological needs as well as our earth-based spirituality. On the day of the ceremony, Rebekah took us aside for a mikvah - time away from the fray for spiritual cleansing. That moment of peace and reflection turned out to be the most meaningful part of our wedding experience. Rebekah also guided us and our families through our hand-crafted ceremony with aplomb. So many people told me that it was the most authentic and genuine wedding they had ever witnessed. And my mom says that afterward, all the Jewish mothers asked her for Rebekah's number!

We chose Sharon because she was different from the rest of officiants you typically hear about or…read morehave seen at previous weddings. For anyone who thinks that the officiant is simply someone who reads a bunch of words, marries you and doesn't think this is an important part of the wedding... you should really re-think that, it is much more. Sharon took the time to get to know how we met, who we are and dug deep into our lives. She makes you think deeper about your partner, family & friends, why you're tying the knot and what you really want from it all. She really helped set the vibe/feeling and flow for the wedding as well being the officiant. Just remember, during the ceremony all eyes are on you and the words being spoken by the officiant and its a significant moment... When Sharon sent us our first draft of the ceremony, it was already perfect and we didn't need to make changes. Also, Sharon's overall personality/vibe is really comforting, happy and she is very on top of things throughout the whole process. Again, don't let the idea of an "officiant" or costs change your mind as everything you know is the old way of doing things. Sharon/Inner Light Ceremonies is the new benchmark and standard of officiating.

For our marriage ceremony, my fiancé and I wanted a secular ceremony that reflected the values we…read morehad brought to our relationship. Our wedding planner (Chanda Daniels) put us in touch with several bay area professional officiants, but it was clear that Sharon was the right fit for what we were looking for. Sharon Lacay is a charming, compassionate, and graceful person who will work with you to construct and lead an intimate ceremony for you and your partner. She has a calm demeanor and always has a smile on her face. Starting close to 9 months in advance of our wedding, Sharon met with my fiancé and I to learn about our values and what we wanted to share with our family and friends. In just a few hours of conversation she synthesized our core beliefs and sacred truths, putting together a draft for our ceremony that captured all of the things we were looking for. In fact, while reading the first draft I was overcome with so much love and emotion that I started to tear up. We had only minor edits afterwards, and Sharon helpfully checked in with us as we neared the date to make sure the ceremony still felt true. Sharon also has a great eye for detail. During our rehearsal she pointed out different ways we could approach the altar in the Redwood Grove (Berkeley Botanical Gardens, Berkeley, CA) and how we would pass the microphone among the wedding party for their readings. All of our guests remarked on how unique, beautiful, and personal our ceremony was, from readings to the tree planting ceremony, ideas which Sharon brought to the table. In sum, if you are looking for a joyful and secular officiant who can help you create a ceremony that reflects your relationship, look no further than Sharon. We are so proud of how she helped make our wedding day a joyful and special occasion for us and our families.
