Chicken Biryani
Reagan B.

This was my first experience with Indian food and it was delightful. I knew it was gonna be good as soon as I stepped into the restaurant and the smell of rich spices filled the air. I got enough for two meals (will be eating for lunch tomorrow lol) so that I could try some of dishes I'd heard were delicious. I started with the veggie samosas. They were crispy and packed full with potatoes and peas. The flavor was rich and contrast of the crunchy exterior to soft middle was fun! My first dish I ordered was the veggie Biryani.... Well I got a little surprise and it turned out to be chicken. Which thankfully isn't a problem because I eat meat. But if you don't - might wanna check first. It was interesting flavor and paired perfectly with this garlicky, cilantro yogurt sauce. The start of the show was no doubt the butter chicken masala with the garlic naan. Omg omg omg I was in heaven! The chicken was tender and the curry sauce was so luscious and paired perfectly with the garlic butter naan. I wanna eat this everyday of my life now. I also tried the cheese naan dipped in it and it was a lovely pairing as well. Over all I great experience and will be back!

I had never had Indian food before I visited this restaurant. I can say that I'm a fan of chicken biryani and chicken Tikka masala! I got them both mild spiced because I like to taste my food and my palate will need more refining for the spice life. Lol. The biryani rice was very flavorful and fresh. The chicken fell off the bone and there were whole chicken legs in the dish. In the Tikka masala, there were chunks of chicken that too were moist and very tender. Now, that garlic naan! When I tell you that's the best tasting bread I've ever had in my life...ohhhh weeeee! I dipped my bread in the Tikka masala and even made a Tikka masala taco with the naan. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The naan is the size of a medium pizza and at a price of $3.50, you can't beat it! Everything is cooked to order so it will take about 20+ mins or so to receive your order. This place is located on Tate street and was packed with customers eating inside, delivery services picking up orders, and call in/walk in orders. I will most definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu. For now, Tikka masala and garlic naan bread is my go-to!

First time...I'll say I'll definitely try it again. I didn't realize it was a sauce I was supposed to use It for left in the bag

Perfectly sized containers

This is a tiny little place on Tate St that *specializes* in takeout. The restaurant itself really doesn't have much seating, maybe three or four people could comfortably eat there, so they have mastered their take-away game. As sauce heavy as Indian food is, I wasn't expecting it to travel well, but they have specialized containers for everything and it stays fresh and delicious and doesn't spill easily. The food from here has always been really really good, my only complaint would be that I wish they had a few more menu options (especially for vegans). The Gobi Manchurian is particularly amazing.

Raaz is a nice spot along UNCG to enjoy a fast lunch. My experience went about as expected it was average. The naan garlic bread was the star of the meal. The rice is okay and the palak paneer is meh. The drink machine was only dispensing flavored water and I did not see any tea. All in all it's just okay India food. The restaurant was clean and the lady up front was friendly.

Excellent Indian food in the most unlikely of places

This place was not what I expected, but it turned out perfect. Located in the College Hills section of Greensboro on a block with a very high restaurant density lies tiny little Raaz Indian Kitchen. It is essentially a fast food type set up with very little seating. But let me hasten to add that the taste and quality are far above any kind of fast food experience you would expect. The chicken saag was excellent. The chicken may have been ever so slightly dry, but it was still delicious. I went with "extra hot", and it was fabulous. But I think I'm going to pay a high price for that tomorrow morning. The basmati rice was cooked perfectly and had an excellent consistency. Gobi Manchurian is lightly battered cauliflower sautéed with ginger and garlic sauce. It was indeed lightly battered and had a good taste. The garlic naan was very good--the garlic they put on it was fresh and very tasty after it had been baked in the oven. The order taker was kind and extremely helpful with suggestions. The food here can go toe-to-toe with any "fancy" Indian food. Raaz might lose out in the finals, but they are really good. Raaz Indian Kitchen is a perfect place to get excellent Indian food for take out.

Samosas

First time at the restaurant and my first time ordering Indian food for myself. There wasn't much traffic (due to COVID) so they were willing to help me with the menu. The choices are very simple you just choose which one you would like and decide on your choice of meat. I decided to order the Lamb Saag (side of rice), garlic naan, and samosa(3 in 1 serving) The samosa was my favorite it was so flavorful, the saag was good I just wish there was more lamb. The garlic naan was okay, I just expected there to he some parsley but thats just based on something I've had previously. Overall I'm happy with my choice and there was a good amount of food so I could have multiple servings.

Rice, Tandoor Chicken and Garlic Naan

The definition of delicious! The hunger of smell makes you die for. Thank YOU so much Raaz Indian Kitchen for making my week easier. I love every bits of the meal. I ordered myself rice, which was so well cooked. Also I have myself Tandoori chicken. The chicken was so grilled and had mixed vegetables which was is the best seasoning. The garlic Naan bread was too garlic. But THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN!

Curry Chicken, Garlic Naan, Basmati Rice and Potato and Pea Samosas

I was super excited to come back to this place because the first time I order eveything was soooo good. I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the curry and butter chicken and it was all sauce and no chicken (literally only 4 small pieces in a bowl) for the price I would expect more I have not came back to this establishment since

Chicken tikka masala, chicken chili, Samosas

This is the furthest Indian spot in Greensboro from me, but it's my favorite so that's where I go. The food is always hot and fresh and tasty. Today was the first time I experienced a bite of sort of hard, rubbery chicken, but the first time in about three years, so I won't hold it against them. They also pack up every great, so I don't mind indulging in delivery a time or two.

The samosas were hot, fresh, and delicious, with a well-seasoned filling. The sweetness of the tamarind chutney complemented them perfectly. For my entrée, I ordered the butter chicken at spice level 3, and it was one of the best I've had in the Triad. It was rich, buttery, and packed with flavor! Everything you'd want in a great butter chicken. Overall, I truly enjoyed everything I ordered and will definitely be back!

I like my food a little spicer than my partner, so I ordered my paneer as a 2 out of 5, and they ordered their korma as a 1, but it came to the table a solid 3-4. I wonder if it got flipped in the kitchen, since mine wasn't very spicy. But, when we asked for a new bowl of korma, they brought one to us within 5 minutes. Much better, if a good bit sweeter than I expected, having tried the first time, I wonder if they added more sugar to make sure it was not too spicy second time around. The naan was tasty, and I was very satisfied with my paneer. We'll definitely try them again. I'm looking forward to the dosa.

The perfectly cooked soft center, the crisp exterior, and the sticky ssssaaaaauce it's covered in... It's savory and heavy enough to be a meal but I was being generous and decided to share the appetizer with my spouse. They do offer a spice scale and they don't hold back. I foolishly tried the spice level 3 (out of 5 being the hottest) and should have chosen a 2 spice level. But the cauli was so good I fought through the pain. Worth it. I could have easily stopped there but we also ordered the garlic naan (also yessssss) as well as the Lamb Korma and Chicken Vindaloo. Both those entrees were delicious but the Korma really stood out to me. The rich and creamy sauce was very unique to my pallet and when I returned, I ordered the Chicken Korma. Clearly I love a good sauce. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, very spacious and would be great for groups or a romantic dinner for 2 (or 3 if you are into that sort of thing). The service was excellent and our server was patient when we ask questions about the menu. Fortunately, a lot of the dishes have descriptions on the menu so you have a good idea of what you are ordering. We were seated immediately, and given time/space to look over the menu, but with our server still hovering nearby in case we had questions or were ready quickly. When we ordered, the server explained the 1-5 spice scale, gave recommendations, and even asked about allergies. After the food came out, he continued to check on us. This is definitely not one of those "abandoned in the corner and ignored" type of establishments. We started with an order of chili paneer, with spice level 2. It was perfectly crunchy and super flavorful. Level 2 has a nice kick to it if you sit for a minute between bites, but it doesn't necessarily light you up either. It is a great level if you're sharing something with someone a little more spice-hesitant. I love paneer, and this appetizer had a generous portion that could easily be a meal for 1 person. For my main, I got the Chana masala, spice level 3. This was absolutely delicious! Spicy, warm, flavorful. Chickpeas had the perfect texture -- not too hard nor too mushy. As a spicy food enjoyer, level 3 was a nice level that is hot and ~just~ starts to make my face flush, but isn't overpowering. A "conversational" level if you will. I could easily order this on a work lunch and could still eat with decorum. We also got garlic naan, which is always a hit, but done absolutely perfectly here. Pillowy, soft, fresh, and generous with the garlic.

They have great patience too as they must get many customers who need help with the cuisine choices. I started out w corn soup appetizer. Not alot of corn in it but it was hardy as it had light colored lentils in it. It tasted somewhat like a Korma dish in soup form. Loved it!I ordered garlic naan to go with it. It was Nice, warm and soft, with just the right amount of garlic, not overpowering, just right. My final dish was a shrimp tandoori, which was very nice to look at very great to taste. The grilled shrimp were sitting on a bed of julienned vegetables with a pretty rose shaped onion with the edges dipped in beet coloring. The dish had a great presentation as it came out of the kitchen on a sizzling skillet. I finished up with a nice hot cup of tea spiced lightly w cardamom, lemon and ginger. I loved the unique flavor in a bracing black tea. Its a restaurant that highlights Indian cuisine in a tasty, quality Way. A gem!

It took ~30 minutes for our order to arrive, one by one, but even at that time there weren't a lot of folks in the restaurant. And that surprised me that a restaurant with such nice ambiance & having a good name/reputation shouldn't be taking this much time on a Saturday evening. Food wasn't that bad, but not as good as I was expecting. I've had Chicken Karahi all over the world and came here after one of my friends told me that their karahi was good. I'll be honest: I wasn't! Charsi Tikka was good but a bit undercooked. Butter Chicken was good though. After we were done with our dinner, we had to wait for at least 15 minutes to have someone come to us and give us the boxes to take left over food. Even after that, no one came to check if we need anything or how we do have to pay. To summarize: experience was not as bad as it sounds like. But the owners must step up, be there by providing excellent customer service rather than relying everything on their staff. There wasn't even a manager who I could talk to - as it seems everyone was either taking orders or do stuff all around. Same folks were on the counter to get payments & serve drinks at the bar. I wish customer service becomes a priority, and with good ambience and sitting arrangement, they ensure food quality is also improved.
