It's also interestingly right across the street from a convenience store, begging the question, how can these two survive in such close proximity? And why bother? Still, as the old battle cry is beginning to ring true--if you have got to have that newspaper now, you can always find it here.

So, I guess if you're in New Brighton or Seacombe for the beach or something and your kids are screaming at you from the back seat of the car, you could always pop in here to buy them some cheap toys to keep them quiet ... Other than that, though, it's just your average newsagents.

This is one of the nicer newsagents/groceries in Liscard. While stock tends more toward groceries…read moreand less toward newspapers and magazines (there is a very small, limited selection), they still have the basics. And of course they have the much needed refrigerators of cold drinks for those hot summer days when you're walking down the sidewalk and you're parched--which happened to me today. You gotta love these little newsagents for saving you from thirsting to death, or starving to death when you really "need" a chocolate bar. And this one's a good one. And the staff are friendly.

The man behind the counter is a local character, it would seem--both funny and friendly, which seems a rarity in these newsagent type stores. They stock everything you can think of from ready-made sandwiches and cold drinks to tinned prunes in syrup (why, why, why I ask you???) Everything is priced fairly low, even the grocery items which can sometimes be a rip-off in stores like this. If you need a magazine, a bottle of Coke, or just want a good laugh, it's worth popping in here but if want a good lunch it's probably better to visit one of the many bakeries and takeaways in Wallasey Village instead.

This one sells a fairly wide variety of groceries, so if you need something more than a normal newsagents has to offer, this one is a safe bet. But naturally you won't find everything here that will find in Asda or Tesco either. If you're in the area, it's a good place to shop so you can show your support for local small businesses.

Does anyone know what this place is called? Either way, this is a fairly small little shop and while they do have the basics, it's the bare basics and there is not a whole lot of choice. Good for a cold drink or a chocolate bar, though, before or after your train journey.
