When a business posts pleas for business, take heed. They have been in a free fall as a result of cutting quality of ingredients to save money and nepotism in staffing. Ate there twice this summer. The Jambalay tastes like a RAGU marinara base and The Jambalaya sausage is an abomination of Kielbasa not Andouille. Their rice is water logged and tasteless. We are on a cross country trip heading back to MT and found R Landry's off of Yelp, obviously. The food is amazing. Truly the best meal we have had in three weeks on the road. Nothing New Orleans about this place. While they try to do Cajun, it was a complete miss. Everything from the BBQ shrimp, red beans, gumbo, and the crawfish étouffée. While I understand I am not in New Orleans, I do say if you claim "New Orleans" you need to know how to do it. Everything was a complete miss and disappointment. The red beans were not creamy in the slightest and served with smoked sausage sliced. The gumbo appeared to be a file gumbo, but I could not taste the roux at all. The crawfish étouffée did not taste like any crawfish fat was in it (this is what makes it an étouffée). Anyone from New Orleans looking for a little taste of home; this is not the place. read more

This place is about "Nawlins, ya'll. Sorry, the closest I am to being Cajun is watching Emeril LaGasse on the Food Network. Anyways, this place is the real deal. The menu is very attractive with the selections. Gumbo? Etoufee? Alligator? Shrimp? I decided on the Blackened Ribeye. A little spicy and a whole lot of flavor. Served with a salad, mashed potatoes and whole kernel corn. I don't want to forget to tell you that I only ate half of my steak. Nice size portions. In on a business trip, a fellow business associate wanted to know if I wanted to eat seafood. Me not seafood? Does the pope wear a funny hat? Knowing that we are in Fort Smith, I was sure that the evening would end in failure. He perked up and said the name of the restaurant was Landry's. I replied, "you mean the Landry's that's in New Orleans, and Houston? He said, I think so... Well, I went from utter excitement, to utter disappointment. We arrived, and I could tell from the outside that this was not the Landry's that I have enjoyed many, many times. The waitress was quick with a menu and my first question do you have any fresh fish on special tonight? She said no, everything we have is frozen. OK, I get it, it is Fort Smith, and I guess they either do not have an airport or their clientele does not ask for fresh fish. Looking at the menu is hard, when you want seafood, but you really don't want anything fried. We split a dozen oyster's, and I know, they were not fresh, but they tasted fine. I had the crawfish etoufee, I know, I know, sauce was good, but the frozen little crawfish had no flavor. My dining companion had the red snapper, and he loved it. I took a bite, and for frozen it was not bad. It's not fair for me to rate this place compared to a restaurant chain that serves fresh fish, but for the service, and the overall food, I will give it a solid 3 stars. Well, this was my second visit to Landry's and my first visit to their new location. Overall, I found the experience to be just average. I left thinking "It's going to be a while before I make another visit." They were having trouble with their A/C so it was a bit warm in the restaurant. However, they were pretty upfront about this on their Facebook page so we knew going in this might be a possibility. I certainly appreciated the info in advance. The service, for the most part was good. Our server was friendly and attentive. The biggest issue we had was with the length of time we had to wait for our food. It was a good 35 minutes before the 1st entree arrived and then another 5 minutes before the second entree arrived. Our server kept apologizing and saying she didn't know why it was taking so long and honestly, considering it wasn't that busy, I'm not sure what the delay was. The food was good but not great. We had the crawfish duo and the dinner special which was blackened chicken over pasta. Unfortunately, there wasn't much blackening on the chicken. In fact, non at all. Not sure why it was called blackened chicken. Either way, like I said, good food but not great. This was pretty much what I remembered from my first visit. Excellent, excellent. I'm always skeptical about restaurants that label themselves as a certain style, especially when they say "New Orleans style." This establishment was spot on. The decor was themed to be Nola-esque. That's the easy part. The food was certainly in the claimed style. My workmate and I started with an appetizer of fried clams, fried calamari, and fried crawfish. It was a great start to a great meal. I ordered the Taste of New Orleans meal which included crawfish étouffée, red beans & rice with blackened sausage, and gumbo. The beans and rice portion was incredibly tasty. There was a smoky flavor that pushed it to the top and then over it. The étouffée was outstanding as well. The sauce was rich and creamy but not overly, which is what usually happens when trying to mimic this recipe. The crawfish were tender. The gumbo wasn't all that great, but it was still full of flavor. I gladly encourage anyone to dine here. The next time I'm in town, I'm going here first. This is my dad's favorite spot when visiting family in Arkansas/Oklahoma. He has been coming here since it was in the small location! He swears by the monstrous Cajun Prime Rib so we all made our way to Landry's. With a part of 8 it is quite a feat to get a table without a reservation. Luckily, we called ahead. If you are thinking that you can just walk in a grab a seat you will be in for a surprise. This place was hopin! This was pretty tasty and had the right combination of seafood to gumbo mixture. We tried the bread pudding as this is supposed to be the best bread pudding ever. Meh, I've had better. Nothing to write home about. Note: All dishes are served with a small side salad I have to say that it seems like Landry's is a one trick pony with the Cajun Seafood Sauce that seems to be encompassed in to most of the dishes we tried. I like the atmosphere but I feel that since they are growing they may be losing some of their customer service. I believe we saw the owner and she use to stop and say hello. On this evening she just glanced in our direction and didn't even bother with a smile. This was fantastic. I drove all the way from western Oklahoma to see Judge Parker's courthouse and to eat at R Landrys. I'm thinking I enjoyed the Nawlins steak more than the historic courthouse. I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for quite a while but have never had enough time in Fort Smith to go. I went with a friend recently and was utterly disappointed. From what we received as our order and what I've seen on Facebook pictures were starkly different. I cannot believe we paid $17 for a sad excuse of fries with ettoufee. The seafood pasta, which is supposed to be their number one best seller, was fishy tasting, nothing special and disgusting. Overall I would say the food is extremely overpriced for what you get and not that good. This place is kind of sad, and I would not come back to this establishment. read more
