His communication skills are excellent and the quality of his work is excellent as well. He goes above and beyond what's expected and needed. My brother recently had a flood in his kitchen from a broken dishwasher that leaked into the condo downstairs from him. I called John Uken (JP Contracting) to fix the damaged cabinet and flooring beneath the sink, work with the granite vendor to replace the kitchen countertops, install new sink, and replace and install new dishwasher. John emailed and texted me the job invoice and was in constant communication with me and my brother. John treated my brother with respect and dignity and was able to schedule the repairs in a timely basis. He texted me photos of the work he did as well as the completed job. Both myself and my brother love the work that was done. I highly recommend John Ukdn-JP Contracting; he's excellent.

We received a quote, and a few days later they started work on the floor. The floor turned out great, looked nice, clean lines, and just needed to be grouted. In the meantime they started the shower tile. We noticed after the first day, halfway through the project that it was not coming out as expected. The lines of the cuts were were not straight and it looked poor. We contacted John who assured us it would all work out When his employee returned the next day and tried to fix the issues he revealed he wasn't confident working with the type of tile we were using. He was ready to just cut us a check for the portion of the shower we had paid up front. They did not have someone who could come in and do the shower. Not sure why they would take a job that was out of their scope. Frustrating. I will say, we appreciated the employee's honesty when he realized he was in over his head. And they did make it right by returning the portion of the money we paid toward the shower already and agreed to cover the cost of the replacement tile. Due to these reasons, I'm disappointed but at least we didn't lose any money, just time.

They also use this strategy saying they will give you 10 to 20% off for being a valued customer, but unfortunately that 10-20% is taken off of their marked up prices. For example, a 25 pound bag of mapei grout which you can get at Lowe's for $33 or around $40 from other local tile sellers was $50 (with tax )with 20% off.
