Took him longer to put his stickers everywhere than to look at anything. He says it'll be about $900 for parts and labor and charged $200 for the visit for Monday. I told him OK and I'll call his office back in the afternoon to schedule. I call back later in the day and it goes to voicemail so I leave a message. They never call back so I call again on Tuesday morning, spoke to someone but still had to leave a message and wait for a call back. I call back again Tuesday afternoon and the quote is now $1,100 and when I ask about the parts they want to install because I want to match what I currently have, they say they'll call back. I had questions about rebates for heat pumps and he had answers about rebates, rough costs and advantages of the new heat pumps. He reiterated that we didn't need to change out our current equipment but if we feel it's important for environmental reasons there are good options. On the first cold day this winter he claims the heater is all rusted out in the exchanger and has to be replaced, along with the entire system because a new heater can't work with an old air conditioner. Needless to say, the heater was not rusted he showed me the unit was very dirty, the fan motor and wheel were clogged with dirt and there were two dead birds in the chimney. The outside air conditioner was only 10 years old. I'm convinced SK had never done anything other than collect their fee and try to sell stuff we didn't want or need.
