Douglas Hogan and how he runs the day-school - calling him a tyrant would be too nice. I watched…read morehim scream at kids, for years. There was one boy in particular, Nathan W. The boy had some sort of cognitive disorder and was in special ed. He would scream at Nathan for being too loud and, when Nathan would start crying, he would grab Nathan by his arm and literally drag the boy to time outs. When Nathan would continue to cry, Doug would yell across the room at him to "be quiet or he would have to be sent to time out in the back" (which is always what happened). Nathan was far, far from the only child this happened too. Rather, Nathan was simply a young disabled boy who never heard a kind word out of Doug's mouth. And the way he hides the shouting from parents or tries to pass it off as some type of "discipline" is just sickening. Saw a post on Facebook from a young woman named Stevie. I remember one of the last times I ever saw her at Glen Hollow, she had a bad sinus infection and was scared because the snot was bloody and she thought her nose was bleeding. She had paper towels shoved against her nose for ages but the "bleeding didn't stop" because it was that she actually just needed to blow all the bloody snot from her sinuses out. Doug tried to tell her this eventually and tried to wrestle the napkins from her face and hands. She screamed bloody murder until he finally stopped because she saw a lot of blood. I was far enough away and a couple years older such that I could see and understand that Doug was indeed correct. But all he did was say, "you're wrong, it's just your sinuses, stop being silly, stop acting like a baby"....etc. So, he didn't actually help her at her young age to understand and feel safe. He screamed at her, then sighed and said, "whatever" before walking off and left her to keep crying with a face full of napkins.
Sometimes Doug took a group of kids out boating on the weekend. Usually, we would bring a large raft to pull along behind on the boat. One day, a boy named Rhyce came along and was told to (by Doug) hold on to the raft. Well, once everyone got settled and we got going, the raft eventually flew out behind the boat. Well, it just so happens that Doug never once told Rhyce to let go of the raft once the boat got faster and being a young boy, Rhyce did as he was told. Next thing we know, everyone in the front of the boat turns around to Doug screaming at Rhyce at the top of his lungs because the raft rope had absolutely shredded Rhyce's hands and we had to immediately go back to the dock so he could be taken to the ER. The entire ride back was miserable because Doug was screaming at Rhyce about how he could have possibly done something so dumb that obviously caused such harm. It wasn't until years later, as an adult myself, I realized that Rhyce wasn't the stupid one. He was an innocent child.
Also, are parents, especially of young girls aware that Doug Hogan has, for the entire time I've known him, "tickled" young girls? Always while they're playing and having a good time and "just tickling" them on the side. Look, let me tell you now that I'm a grown adult - even if I believed a middle aged man "tickling" young girls at his daycare was that innocent, why haven't parents stopped it after all these years? Now, he did it the ENTIRE time I attended Glen Hollow Day School and it wasn't only to girls. Some parents need to start asking their kids who went to that place some actual questions about how he screamed at kids, dragged them around by their arm or with a hand around the back of their necks, and how he likes to play with kids by tickling them. Douglas James Hogan is nothing more than a bully who, after leaving the marines, thought it would be a good idea to work with developing children because of his credentials in psychology. It's 2025 and it's time the truth about how horrible this man treated so many kids comes out. People want to sit back and say, "he made kids learn so much. they were ahead of all the other kids". Yeah, look, I went to private school before attending Glen Hollow and was learning multiplication by first grade - my mother can confirm - St. Mary's Catholic School. If you care so much about your kids education, send them to better schools and academic summer camps, not at this sham of a place. Parents, it's time to wake up. And to the former "students" of his, I have a pretty good memory and about half the people I see posting talking about how much he "helped" them, are the same people I can distinctly remember times he made them cry. Don't pay a bully to watch your children - it's not worth it.
