I went into R & R Wellness Studio with a pretty badly tweaked back muscle and was hoping for some relief. I told her I prefer medium-to-hard pressure, and she absolutely delivered. The massage itself was definitely on the rougher side because she was working through a lot of tight knots, but it was exactly what my back needed. You could tell she really knew what she was doing and focused on the problem areas instead of just going through the motions. I just happened to google lymphatic drainage massage nearby and I was drawn to the extensive massage therapies offered at R&R. Having been a head neck and throat cancer recovery patient myself, I suffer from lymphatic drainage issues, inflammation, ear tinnitus, TMJ tightness, major scar tissue on side of my neck where my lymph node is all from surgery, chemo and radiation. I routinely get massages to keep my body functioning. I previously had the softer kind of lymph drainage at a local spot as well as a Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage at a diff location out of my local vicinity. Relaxing ambience, easy location I have been working with Bella and she does a great job finding and working through my sore spots- I have had an extremely painful hip for the last month and after our session it doesn't hurt at all! I had been going to R&R Massage Studio for a while and when I heard Erin was a birth doula I thought how her pairing her massage therapist experience with birth just made sense! As a first time mom I didn't know exactly what I was looking for, but knew I wanted a birthing doula. Going into my pregnancy, I wanted to experience an unmedicated birth but had the mentality of "let's see what happens". I was confident my husband could help during labor but I wanted that extra support and somewhat of a bridge between the hospital staff and my husband and I. Erin made the whole experience feel easy and made me feel so safe, comfortable and confident in my body which made my birth so much more enjoyable. The prenatal and postnatal pregnancy massages were EVERYTHING! After my postnatal one I felt amazing and even my parents could see the glow I had after from it. I was hesitant going since I was just shy of a week after birth and was still physically aching. I thought it couldn't hurt since it was body work and it was the most relaxing moment ever. After I felt like a new woman! My husband and newborn even came along and hung out in the room just in case my little guy needed to be fed. There is such truth in having that mind/body connection and this was something I didn't know I needed until I had it. Having Erin do all the body work with me made me feel so much better towards the end of my pregnancy. This was my first visit to this place. I walked in with a stiff back, pain and reduced range of motion in the neck, and tight hamstrings. I walked out feeling like transformed with flexibility and increased range of motion in my neck and back. That seemed magical. I was seen by Adam. He seemed to know exactly the right muscle strands to pick and work on. This massage was very different from all the other massages that I've been taking so far. Most of the massages tend to focus on a body rub, squeezing all the muscles which no doubt does provide relief but this one was very different. Adam focused on putting pressure for elongated periods of time on very specific muscle strands in my neck, back thighs. While I was initially left wondering whether this was going to be useful I let Adam continue only to come out thrilled with the results. The strain in my neck had been bothering me for the past few weeks, that was gone. My lower back had been stiff, restricting my ability to bend or turn. I go to Mary every month and she is fantastic. I have bulging discs in my back and the one in my neck is particularly troublesome. Although she gives great massages overall I think she really shines when it comes to my upper traps and neck. She's responsive to input about pressure and areas that I want to focus on. I've had previous massages with Bella, who is fantastic, but this review is for Mary. I saw Mary for a 75 minute massage. Her approach felt extremely custom. We discussed my focus areas prior to my massage, but I assumed I'd get the standard flow for massage. I. WAS. WRONG. Mary used custom oils, pressure and cadence of massage that was unique to our pre-massage discussion. Neuromuscular Massage and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Saved My Life Neuromuscular Massage and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy did not literally save my life, but this powerhouse combo offered at R & R Wellness Studio, certainly saved my QUALITY of life, and therefore my life. I am a tech worker by day and a horse trainer by night, neither of which is gentle on the body, so I have been seeing Erin for her unique and unparalleled massage techniques for years. I have three bulging discs in my lower cervical that just mess everything else up down the line and well, get horses they say, it'll be fun they say... Erin is the ONLY one who has ever been able to give me relief from the pain and numbness I experience on the daily. When I say 'the only one', let me be specific, I am under the long term care of a top notch Pain Management Doctor, have had multiple spinal injections, am on the appropriate meds, and have been to many physical therapists and chiropractors. I repeat, Erin is the ONLY one who has ever been able to give me relief. Last year, I started growing what eventually turned out to be a rare benign tumor in my calf. This tumor weakened my leg so much that I fell, like a lot, ultimately rupturing my ACL and a bunch of other stuff in my knee, but surgery to fix it all couldn't happen until the tumor was diagnosed. Once a diagnosis was finally made, the doctors decided to fix my knee first, then come back in three months after the graft had time to take, to remove the tumor, all during prime training and teaching season. Erin suggested I try Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy after my first surgery to get me back on the horse sooner, and it worked so well that my Orthopedist said I could start riding just 3 months post surgery, instead of his original estimate of 6 months! Recover time CUT IN HALF after just a week in the hyperbaric chamber! My knee was doing so well that I was able to schedule one more multi-day clinic for the year. These clinics require me to be on my feet for 10 hours a day, hopping on and off multiple horses throughout. Unfortunately, just two weeks before that clinic, six weeks post knee surgery, the tumor ballooned to the size of a lemon, impinging on my nerves. Immediate surgery was required to save my leg function. But what to do about the sold out clinic??? I went into the hyperbaric everyday before that clinic and while I wasn't able to ride any horses, I was able to teach the whole thing without an ounce of pain or swelling. It is simply magic and I wish I could use it every single day. Long story long, if you are thinking about coming to R & R Wellness Studio for any reason, stop thinking and book now. Had my massage with Matt, and this was my 1st experience with him. Have been to his facility a few times and have always had great service. Where do I begin! Last year I herniated a disc in my lower back, on top of having been in a car accident shortly before. Needless to say I was hurting a LOT. I am very active and needed relief- I scheduled an appointment with Erin and she really worked my painful areas out. The next day I had barely any pain and after that, pain free! Since then I moved on to a very active career. I wear tool bags all day so my back is taking a beating. I re-injured the same disc (at the gym!) which is a recipe for disaster in my line of work.
