I came in here today and created this account t just to make sure and warn everyone! I'm more what made me think of this today of all days, but I just could,t hold it in any longer. So first review, but it's a big one! Ray at R&J Construction is an absolute garbage human being! I saw recently on his website that he used my job as a positive review, but actually just lists what the job was and nothing from me at all! Which makes sense as he was a terrible human being and HAD he asked me for input he wouldn't have been very happy with the outcome, and you just kept on he isn't going to include that info! Hahaha! I was excited as he was able to come in under the bid, but let me just say, you get what you pay for. That's all I can really say in that regard. But let me tell you, he is the type of man who must feel very very small on the inside because he likes to talk tough and make himself LOOK big on the outside. He is frequently rude to employees and support staff. I caught him on more than one occasion berating his workers loudly and seemingly for no reason at all! He loves to tell them that he is PAYING THEM and so he can do what he wants! Frequently gaslighting, minimizing and denying all of the people around him! He is an entitled man-child who makes himself feel better by belitteling everyone around him! Now in regards to his work, as I stated you get what you paid for as he did come in under budget and time for me, but that is where the pleasent surprises end! As you can see on his site it says it was a demo job preparing for some new driveways, curbs, etc... he did the demo, but we didn't even contract him for the rest after the ordeal we went through with him. He just argued with everyone at every opportunity, I even heard him tell a staff member something like, I pay YOU for this job so YOU need to be doing this! Or something to that effect, like a toddler screaming about his friends not wanting to play the game HIS way! I am betting he is the type to snap at wait staff and berate tech support all while refusing to participate in the process of making his request a reality! Just goes around demanding everyone and everything does exactly what he wants at all times! Many of his workers were delightful, and we're clearly just there to collect a paycheck, keep their heads down, and not make waves. So please do yourselves a favor and walk right past this narcissist playing at being a big boy! It's just not worth the hassle to save a few bucks! Besides, you really want some quality and even just the demo was bad! They left a lot of garbage and debris behind when they left, and isn't the poi t of hiring someone for this work to have THEM be the ones to clean it up!! OK, I have gone gone on long enough! Horrible experience working with this contractor. I would have given negative stars if I could. Should have seen the warning signs when he was all pushy to get the project started. Tried to cut corners and poured the concrete WITH my down spout drain IN it. I had to hire two other contractors to finish the work he left/created. Definitely would not recommend. read more

We had a driveway removed and replaced. It took the men 2 days to finish our driveway. We are very pleased with the job they have done. Our neighbor went ahead and had there's replaced also after they seen how good our new driveway look! I would use this company again in the future. Thank you Ray and team. read more

Agree with other commenters. Do not make our mistakes. Not only do we have to get the concrete redone we have to make major repairs to the pool and can't use the pool until able to get these done. Check references. Don't pay final payment until satisified. Here's our experience with hiring R&J to replace cement around our in ground pool. 1) cement is poured wrong. slopes toward pool not away as it should. 2) wet cement was scrapped into pool while leveling. Could not be removed via vacuuming or filtration and deposited on pool liner. Requires pool liner to be replaced. 3) dropped tool into pool tearing pool liner. Second reason pool liner has to be replaced. 4) because of scrapping wet cement into pool, all pool coving that holds pool liner was covered in cement and left for us to repair. 5) Cracked both pool skimmers. 6) Would have buried skimmers in cement expect husband noticed before they covered it. We had to create cones to create needed openings. 7) Did cement over holes for pool railing. Ray promised he would drill out hole. Ray came after 3 wks, got his drill bit stuck in concrete. Left with drill bit sticking out and has never returned. 8) Bent electrical conduit for pool heater and broke plastic conduit. 9) Broke railing spindle on staircase. 10) Concrete surface is so rough can't be walked on with bare feet - it's concrete surrounding a pool!!!!!! After finding out that my normal, trusted concrete people were booked up beyond my timeline to get this work done, I took a chance and hired R & J Construction, who was referred by another Realtor in a private Facebook group. In the beginning, things were going great (prompt, service with a smile, etc...). Then, after they left late Friday afternoon, I went out and realized they'd laid the forms wrong, which would create a trip hazard - exactly the reason I was getting them replaced. When I politely asked about it and explained my concern over the weekend (inconsistent rise/run dimensions of multiple inches per step) the owner, Ray, assured me that it would be done correctly and that, by the time it was done, the rise/run would be consistent across all steps. When I walked down to see the final result this morning as they were finishing up, the concrete had been poured exactly as the forms had been laid - incorrectly. When I began discussing this with Ray, he starts screaming at me and then demanding his money. When I told him I would mail him his check once I confirmed with City Building that his steps were done correctly, he began telling me that I "do not want to fuck with him" and when I eventually asked him what that meant/what he was going to do, he dropped his paperwork and began to rare back his fist as if he were going to assault me and threatened to tear out his existing work and charge me more. I wish i could give negative stars. This was so pathetic. Two other contractors came out after Ray was done and both said we have to gut the shower and start over. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY FOR ANY BATHROOM REMODELING. They told us they were going to do the plumbing and then dint so we had to do that ourselves. Some of the tiles were crooked or had grout all over them. They did such a bad job from start to finish. They did no prep work or measuring. The grout cracked everywhere was falling off into the tub. The poured the unused grout and mud into my sink and clogged all my pipes so my basement flooded. I CALLED AND TEXT RAY SEVERAL TIMES TO TALK ABOUT GETTING SOME MONEY BACK SINCE I HAVE TO REMODEL THE BATHROOM AGAIN BUT TO NO SURPRISE HE IS DODGING MY CALLS. This bathtub cost $852.00 and they treated it like a garbage can (as seen in a photo) and now i have to buy a new one again. They cut the back of my new tub to fit the tile in. Instead of doing the job right they cut the tub to fit the tile and they lied to us and said they didn't cut the tub. After gutting the shower again it was obvious that they cut it. (as pictured) This company was truly sad and did a terrible job. The left the place a mess and didn't clean up after themselves. If i can give you any advice PLEASE go elsewhere and find a better contractor. read more

If I could give minus stars, I would. Absolutely awful experience. This contractor did not follow simple instructions that were agreed on before the job was started. He did not have basic equipment necessary for the concrete job, for example, a hose (asked to borrow ours). Contractor did not call back when contacted about mistakes. It has cost us significant extra money to hire other companies to repair the problems caused by this contractor. Stay away. (Important note: Contractor is very responsive when trying to get the job and when it is time to come collect money. However, on the job he is careless, unprofessional, and does not care about you once he gets his money. Don't be fooled like I was.) read more

Had 2 driveways sealed 8/14/21 total 1500 sq. ft. Cracks in driveways were filled but since sealing filling has split and cracked open, the workers put sealer on concrete where 2 sidewalks met asphalt driveway. Mentioned this to Robby Orr, said he told my son how to remove sealer from concrete, told him not our responsibility, shouldn't have happened in first place. Also saw number of areas missed where driveway meets with side of driveway. Sealer was put on with brush but can see circles in driveway instead of going from side to side of driveway. Had 3 workers who did not speak much English and I had to go through translater in order for them to understand some problems. Robby spent most of time in truck while work was being done; did approach as work was being done on occasion. Also had to give workers line for their edger as they did not have any; also asked if they could use my blower and told them no. Workers should have all materials with them when going on a job, not have to ask customer. Completely dissatisfied with this company and would not refer them to anyone. read more
