My husband and I have been taking our vehicle to R&D since we first moved to Freeport a little over a year ago. Last year, I knew that the wheel bearing on our vehicle was bad, but I had a dealership not fix it right the first time, another place tell me the wheel bearing was fine, and a third place tell me they had no clue. Talk about frustrated! Anyway, we drove by R&D and I took it right in and told them what was going on and how I was positive that it was the wheel bearing...and guess who was right? Long story short, they fixed it the very next day in a short amount of time. The estimate was also less than anticipated because our car decided not to be difficult in its older age. I highly recommend these guys. One last thing regarding Rachel's comments about Yohanna. Obviously there's many sides to a story. Maybe customers were being rude to her first and she got defensive, or maybe she was having a bad day. I know people who work in customer service are held to a really high [unrealistic] standard, but most of us know that in reality, no one is perfect and things happen. The more we realize and accept this truth, the more we could minimize narrow-minded, one-sided complaints. My experience with Yohanna has been nothing but delightful. She's always very warm, kind, and very accommodating as much as she can be. R&D Automotive is a very popular, busy garage with lots of customers, so there will be times that you may need to wait a little longer than expected to get your car fixed, but as I've said, they've been amazing at always getting us in really quickly. Naturally, the world can't and won't revolve around everyone who is a customer at any place of business, so try to be kind and realistic. read more

I was visiting Freeport Maine last week when my Honda CRV started to make horrible grinding noises. I asked the owner of the B&B where I was staying to recommend a garage where I could safely take my car for repairs. She strongly recommended R &D . When I took the car in, the lot was loaded with cars which was a good sign but I had to return to Maryland in two days so it was also unnerving as I was afraid I would be stuck in town for days. I explained my situation, and they assured me they would do their best to get the car back to me by the end of the next day. The calipers on the right rear had frozen and damaged both the brake lining and the drum and all three had to be replaced. R&D kept me informed every step of the way and I was able to pick the car up by 5pm and being on my way back to Maryland in the morning. The car is working like a charm again and dealing with this company was a pleasure. read more

What can I say? Found this oasis of a repair shop 10 years ago by chance. Have not been anyplace else since. They are all pleasant and go out of their way to make it right. They are friendly and reasonable. They treat you with respect and genuine concern. We now live in Florida 7 months a year. We wait until our return to Maine to take vehicle in for checkups. Just oil changes and burnt light bulbs in Florida. If I have a question there I call Darryl for advice. He always is ready to help. My wife feels she will never be taken advantage of taking her car alone. We consider them friends as well as mechanics. All who work there are the same. Looking around for a Saab mechanic I was referred by a local large auto repair shop to R & D automotive in Freeport, ME. I had several reoccurring oil leaks along with several other repairs to get my 2002 Saab convertible up to speed for the summer. These guys did a wonderful job getting the work done and Johanna did a great job of getting me in and the price was very competitive. Don't let the old shop fool you, the folks at R&D are top notch mechanics with old school customer service and pricing. read more

These people are fantastic. They are honest and fairly priced. They are also one of the only automotive places in the entire area willing to do work on my husbands handicap modified vehicle.
