Wide selection of music long with record players and other collectible items. The owner is very nice and enjoys talking to the customers.

I saw this cute lil'ole shop on my way in to Callaway Gardens from Atlanta. Stopped here as I made…read moremy way back home, to the city. What a treat! Soooo many really unique and cute items. I brought the one captured in my pic home with me. Perhaps the best discovery of all--the welcoming kindness of Main Street Emporium's associates. Warmed my heart and added the loveliness of joy to my life. Perfect topper for my mini getaway trip from big city life. Thank you.

After seeing a post on Facebook, their pictures looked interesting and I drove up from LaGrange to…read morecheck them out. Almost immediately after walking in, I saw two pieces of old sheet music that I wanted to buy - one for me and one for my sister. They were a bit overpriced at $29 each, but they were in good condition and both titles meant something to me. I walked through the store and looked around at other things, and as I was looking at some books in the front I couldn't help overhearing a conversation between the woman at the cash register and a couple of adult customers. They were joking about a display case holding such things as a Little Black Sambo book, and a 78 rpm record set "Tales of Uncle Remus". I understand that is their right to sell this merchandise. I used to own a copy of the Uncle Remus set myself, and I sold it. But that wasn't the point. The conversation that took place between these three people - joking about "what if certain people saw these things, they might set the store on fire", and the cashier made some racially insensitive remark about rewriting history. No one's asking anyone to rewrite history. But I will not spend my money in a store owned and operated by racists. Of course I guess most of their clientele is entitled old white people, and good for them. But this old white man decided not to spend the $58 on those two pieces of music, or the $55 on a metal shelf that would've been perfect for his loose sheet music, or the $225 on a piece of original artwork depicting Ignacy Jan Paderewski at the piano. (Their description said it was Poe, but they said they weren't sure. I don't think they were being misleading in their description.) What they *were* being is racist. And they lost my business. And they lost any of my future business.

I'm an avid thrifter, and supplement my income by reselling my finds. With that said, I have to say…read morethat this is the first Goodwill that I've ever walked into and left empty handed. The clothes are well worn, and it was impossible to find a designer brand. That's unusual for Goodwill. I wouldn't recommend this one.

I fell really bad doing this review. I will say that as we all know, Goodwill gets more items on a…read moredaily basis. Perhaps I just came on a bad day. But this place really sucked! When I initially entered the store I thought, "Eww!". Then I said to my BF that it could use some TLC in here and he said, "It's a thrift store. Ease up!". So I said OK. And I walked around thinking that maybe my white neighbor was right and I'm a Bugie B???? Have I become some Bugie Thrift Store shopper???? If I have Oh well! I am that I am. And I love me some me! :) So I walked around looking at several different areas of the store. Thinking about demographics and so forth. Trying my best to "Ease Up!". Only to realize that this store just sucks! And that is all to it. Moments later my BF walked over and said, "Baby I'm sorry. You are right. This store is not as good as where you usually go." An apology from a man. I must record this date to my personal calendar. November 30, 2013. It's a small location and I am sure that most of the donations come from people that live in the area so It's not Goodwill's fault so I'll give it a 3 Star because it is well stocked. But then I remembered the cashier was having a temper tantrum out loud with her boss in the back and almost knocked me down trying to get to the back so she could fuss about needing to take her break. For this I must only give this spot a 2 Star. I'll post a few pictures later.
