He provided a list of 3 vineyards, aside from the one I was dead-set on visiting (Penner-Ash), suggesting 4 stops was more than enough. He was spot on. I was ready to tap out by the fourth and final stop. He suggested a 9:30 AM pick up from downtown Portland, accounting for about an hour drive to get to the first vineyard. He was right on time and picked up in a clean white Mercedez van. The first stop was Argyle, followed by De Ponte Cellars, followed by Brooks Winery for lunch, ending at Penner-Ash. Even though Argyle appeared to be a little commercial given its location on a fairly busy street rather than off the beaten path, the space and their sparkling wine provided for a good intro for the rest of the day. The other two vineyards he picked were exactly what I wanted. We were the only ones in De Ponte, except for the cat. And Brooks had a great food and wine menu for lunch, overlooking beautiful views. As for pricing, I was first taken aback by the $75/hour price point, but I got over it considering: - Allen's competition was charging about the same - Allen is your private driver for the day and waits for you in between stops - Uber is not practical or all that cheaper for something like this. The vineyards are too spread out, some of which are in no service areas, and I can guarantee an Uber driver wouldn't bring Allen's expertise to the table. Overall, I was very satisfied with this service and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Wilammette Valley. The more people the merrier, however. The $75/cost is per hour, not per person.

So nice not to carry bottles with us all day. Every 20 minutes or so a bus would appear. We were never in a rush, nor did we ever wait very long. He picked us up right at our Airbnb (Pearl) in a comfortable van with lots of room and already had the jams playing (his 90s/00s playlist is ON POINT). For the first day, we went out to the Mt. Hood area which was beyond beautiful (don't think I've ever seen a winery with a majestic mountain as a back drop). I highly recommend this route as it has more of a mom & pop feeling than other major wine areas I've visited (especially if you can do multiple days in this region). You also get a wider range of varietals vs. Willamette (not knocking W.V. AT ALL as I'm a Pinot Noir gal). Cedric completely planned the entire day and we hit up 4 different wineries and none disappointed. He also grabbed us lunch which was fantastic. The drive is beautiful along the Colombia River. Dropped off at our place in the Pearl. Day 2 (the following day) we hit up the famous Willamette Valley. We had a couple last minute requests (in terms of must-have wineries) that Cedric completely accommodated and he re-routed our day to ensure we hit the best of the best. He worked his magic and we were able to visit FIVE (!), including the last stop where we chatted with the owner/winemaker while playing bocce ball (Utopia wines). It was a fantastic day. We visited some big players like Domaine Serene (YES) and Stoller (great for a picnic lunch), but also some smaller but beautiful wineries like Colene Clemens (top of hill overlooking valley) and Vista Hills (think tree house vibes). Cedric promised a magical day and he delivered. This was by far my favorite wine tour experience and I've done a lot of them across the country/world. Cedric was the difference maker. He's a fantastic and hilarious host and truly makes the experience one to remember. This was an odd experience. I had reserved a tasting with J'Aime a month or so ahead of time--so as…read morea visitor from the midwest, I had put it into my itinerary. The night before, I emailed to confirm--only to get, the next morning, a text from J'Aime saying that I had never followed through. We ended up talking on the phone, and this was so very weird for me because I was actually looking at the email I had sent while she was aggressively arguing that I hadn't sent it. As things developed, she conceded that she missed it (but didn't apologize for gaslighting me), and agreed--somewhat reluctantly--to meet me, as long as I could get there earlier. I got there as fast as I could, maybe 40 minutes ahead of schedule. Then, I was given a very fast tour where I was told to not ask questions, to not speak at all, to just listen to her "set piece." It's not that the "set piece" wasn't interesting--it was, in a way. But 1/3 of it was stuff I already knew, from traveling the area for a couple weeks, and 1/3 of it was stuff she presented so quickly--and clearly not wanting me to ask questions--that I couldn't fully grasp it, as I had wished. The other 1/3 was useful. At the winery itself, the wine was fine, I liked it. There was nothing so special that I felt the need to join a membership, but I did take a bottle of wine back to my Airbnb with me. And to J'Amie's credit, she did make sure that I was fully recompensated for both the tour and the tasting. This was a learning/studying trip for me. I'm a former professor; studying wine is my retirement hobby. To shut "students" down from asking questions is inimical to real learning, so I was very disappointed in this. This was one of two wineries in Oregon who insisted on forced listening, rather than engaging.
