We have just visited this restaurant for the first time. A Valantines evening which started with music from a duo singing South American romantic songs. Then to dinner or was it three dinners?. After lobster and crab 'cappucino' came four taster starters, then main course of beef fillet, slow roast pork with stuffing and a spinich tart with goats cheese. Sweets to follow were a trio of meringue with forest fruits, walnut and maple cake, and creme caramel. Accompany that with a nice wine and a beer or two and follow it with more latin music to top off a great time.
We left replete and feeling we would definitely return again for another evening: Jazz and classical are in the offing.
Total bill for four: £143.50 (ex service)
We have been back! We have just been along for an evening of music and food. The singer/guitarist, Barnaby Newman, was excellent offering a mix of 60's music and folk/blues which would probably meet most tastes. The joint wasn't exactly jumping because of the general maturity of the clientelle but the music was getting feet tapping around the room and a rumble of sympathetic harmony from those who could remember the tunes if not the words.
The food was of very good quality and enjoyed by all who were at our table. The starters were varied and the main dish of duck and pork with seasonal vegetables very well cooked and presented. Sweets were fruit marengue and a chocolate coffee orange fondant which was very acceptable,
All in all it was a good familly evening out and enjoyed by us all. Thank you! read more
