The place is a small, cozy bar/pub near Flamengo beach. Not very "beachy", but very cute (I only point the "beachy" part because well.. it's Rio). They have a nice selection of beers, but the catch is that they always have some good promotions going on. Meaning: great beer for a cheaper price! Oh, yeah! The selection of beers is good, not great... but they divide the beers by countries and types, which is good to taste new beers according to what you like the most (I particularly LOVE british beers - bitter and strong, if possible). For the food... the selection is not big, and I did not tried the appetizers, only the burgers... those are very satisfying: big, with fries and a nice sauce! Downside: the two times I came here the service was pretty bad... not that the waiters were rude (a thing that it is normal in Rio), but they were just... well, bad! Forgetting stuffs and taking long to attend because they don't keep an eye over the whole bar. Also, the food took a while to get, even though the bar was kinda empty... in a table next to mine a couple was waiting a long, LONG time for a small portion of appetizers (clearly the waiter forgot to order). In any case, it is a nice place to go and have some nice beers for an (somehow) affordable price... but if you are looking for more than that, well, like the Disney song says: let it go!

I'm glad my misconception was corrected, because Bar do David was 101% worth the trip - it *doesn't* have a view, but we did have one of the best meals of our trip. Our favorite was the ribs with pineapple salsa, which were perfectly charred and fell off the bone. We also had a completely beautiful seafood salad and some croquettes with carne seca, plus a couple very tasty drinks. I can't recommend it enough!

I am not a big beer drinker so I went for the caipirinhas. - PASSIONFRUIT CAIPIRINHA - this one is pretty good if you like the sour taste of the passionfruit. - STRAWBERRY CAIPIRINHA - I went for this one as I am a sweetie at heart and only sweet drinks can come my way to make me happy. for the food we had a very eclectic mix of stuff. - FEIJOADA CAKES- they make this deep fried feijoada cakes with everything you find in a feijoada even the greens. this was impressively tasty, I was not expecting this appetizer to be this good. - PIZZA: PORTUGUESA- has a mix of many different veggies and meats with some scrambled egg on top, it is a pretty good pizza. - FRANGO COM CATUPIRY - i love the catupiry cheese and the chicken gives the saltiness making the flavor complete. the pizza here is cut as shares making it easy to eat as a finger food and perfect to share, we were 4 people and it was plenty for all of us, we had the two flavors half and half of the pizza, it was perfect. overall we had a great time, service was good and the staff was friendly. this was a good experience. I will come back here on my next trip to Brazil.
