I was looking to try a new place in the neighborhood after eating at three of the other places…read morenearby. Os Filhos da Mãe caught my eye because it was less busy than the neighbor restaurants and it looked cool enough and clean.
The gentleman who helped me was either knew or not server, because he really didn't know anything about the menu nor could he help me with getting on the Wi-Fi or answer questions about drinks. However, he was really nice and professional.
The actual server was polite enough and did his job didn't make me feel overwhelming welcome either.
The restaurant has a cool selection of craft brews in cans and bottles but the servers seemed to be pushing Budweiser and Heineken for some odd reason. To note, there were only two beers on draft in a place that has Brew in its name. I order a radler and it was a decect radler.
I got the last hamburger on the list, it was 380g of beef... nearly a pound. It was properly cooked at medium rare and was loaded with two kinds of cheese, tomato and lettuce kind of pickles and and underwhelming bacon. This was one of the burgers that the more formal server recommended. This thing was a monster and it was probably 8 in tall! FYI, the burgers are a la carte.
I asked for a side salad, or a salad of any sort, because there were none on the menu. It was a whole run around in circles and finally they said they could put extra lettuce and tomatoes on the side. Ultimately, when my burger arrived, nothing came on the side. Sure enough, when I got my bill, I was charged for extra lettuce and tomato. Wow.
Finally, for dessert, I ordered a 420g of acai... because they didn't have anything smaller. I asked for granola and banana and figured that was included. Lo and behold, they charged me for it. Wow.
The ambience was underwhelming but fine. The music was American although I didn't recognize the different songs.
I would spend my money elsewhere.
