You can go inside and order drinks off the menu (including draft beer), or you can go outside and order the bottles of beer that they have there. But you can't do both from inside, unless you're seated by the ledge and lean over. Another strange thing is that you have to tell the cashier what you want, pay, and then she'll tell the bartender. If you just tell the bartender he won't do anything but look at you funny. This system doesn't work very well because you'll see lines forming for the cashiers while the bartenders sit around waiting to make a drink. Is it that hard to pour a draft beer? You know someone else is going to order one. It gets packed and seems to attract the American frat boy type, though I don't know why. The music is good and loud and the crowd spills out onto the street, where you have to be careful because it attracts some shady characters. Expect to smell pot. It has a lot of character and is definitely unique, but bottom line, if every other place was closed I might come here. So would everyone else.

The girl went to get her manager. The manager arrived and confirmed the price. My friend said "What is the extra charge for?" The manager said, "It's for the band." There was NO BAND! We had been there for hours and no one played. The manager finally backed down. These people like to prey on homesick gringos. Don't be one of them. The last time I went it was like walking into the most depressing bar in the world. A few people were slumped in booths in the back and the music was some sappy 90s pop from the US. The waitress was friendly but the table was broken and had been screwed back together half-assedly so it wobbled and had nuts and bolts sticking out of it. If you get there with the right crowd it can be fun, but then you're going to pay a R$ 10 cover charge...for a bar. They'll charge you even if a band isn't playing. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure they even have live music. Oh, sometimes they have good beer bucket specials, 7 for 5. And they have Sol, which is also a plus.
