I have NEVER witnessed any inappropriate behaviour towards female members. Bob has shown me nothing but respect. He also has a witty sense of humor which adds to the energy of the gym. As far as the size of the gym goes well it's not kept a secret prior to you making the decision to join. Every gym has their own set of rules and it's your responsibility to ask tons of questions before handing over your cash. You have to be self-motivated and disciplined if you want to benefit from the SugarRay's experience. For those of you who want towel service, keep on walking . . this ain't no spa!

For a low bi weekly fee, I was able to have unlimited one on one personal training sessions with experienced coaches, who have trained in the sport of boxing for many years. Their world class environment, made me feel like I belonged, and I was able to learn key boxing fundamentals inside a real boxing ring. Having 24 hour access was so convenient, I was able to train on my own time, and would recommend this gym to anyone who is looking for a place to train, and to learn new skills both beginner and intermediate. For a person who has tried a couple of the franchise boxing gyms in Vancouver - I had the wind knocked out of me a little bit - but in a great way. I found the instructors to be invested in improvement, technique, and structure from the beginning. I genuinely felt like I took away something from that class, and I find that quite rare for fitness classes. Not only have me and my husband become "regulars" to our standards, but we have also been able to genuinely build a passion for boxing through these classes. They really know boxing and teach you the correct stance and punches. The place is at Bentall and they have awesome lockers with shower room, blow dryers, water, towels, etc. The place is clean. Initiation fee and membership is on the pricey side, but the place will definitely whip you in shape. There is a 2 week membership trial period and you can also do drop in, if you want. Classes are nice and leveled where they have the fundamental boxing, to beginner, and intermediate boxing. The two downside is parking is hard since it's at Dunsmuir and classes can become super full where you can be bumping into each other.
