Yeah, went into a small sewing shop in Atascadero ca "the rudest town in ca" the yards were $16.99…read moreea!! For basic prints. $4.25 for a fat Q! And the lady?? So rude didn't talk to me at all I asked if they have quilting classes " I don't need them just trying to get a convo going and make a connection" no was her answer, oh I'm new here and been looking for a good fabric shop! Her answer... your total is 31.85...: ok thanks bye..:: I miss big stores!! They train their workers properly! They are helpful and affordable! There's a reason these lil stores don't survive and my last experience is exactly why!my son seen a quilt in the window he wanted I went online and goind all the fabric and soent over $200 on it, could have went to the if they were nicer! I buy probably $400 in fabric A MONTH could have went to them but they don't want new customers. She was nicer to a woman that was clearly a regular. What a pos person to treat new customers like that! DO NOT GO HERE!! Over priced and RUDE!!

I've heard from local sewists about how rude the people who work here are, sad so say they live up…read moreto their reputation. I went in today looking for a specific tool, I heard two women talking toward the back of the store and neither of them seemed to notice (or perhaps not care) that I was in there. I walked around looking for my tool, listening to one of them tell the other about how she won't respect her son's boundaries but expects her mother-in-law to respect hers (eye roll). I finally approached them to ask if they had what I was looking for; she told me "no" and turned back around to her conversation. Not even a hint of interest in helping me find an alternative or suggestions for where I might be able to find what I needed. Abysmal customer service. Would rate 0 stars if given the option.

Hobby Lobby - Local to San Luis Obispo, near a lot of other stores, including Michael's and much more.

Kind of reminds me of the ole Woolworths, but not as diverse…read more More crafts & household odds and ends, than Hobby stuff, but it still useful for some items, like doormats. For some odd reason, they typically have many types of doormats and various other "thing-a-ma-gigs", like analog wall clocks. It is best to go when they have a 50% off sale, and then you can save. They do serve a diverse crowd, and one can see Cal Poly students of all types, including international students. The younger crowd goes mostly for dorm furnishings, while the older locals go for fabric, plastic flowers, and crafts. The service here is really nice at checkouts, but you can feel kind of neglected in store...but not as forgotten as in many Big Box or discount stores. As far as where one wants to shop, it is not like Amazon has moral superiority, over here. At the very least, HL does let you touch the items that one contemplate getting. This is more important when one wants to hang a clock in ones living area for example. Many clocks and other items have deceptively rendered near-fake pictures on Amazon for many items, not to mention fake reviews. It is kind of fun to stop in here for targeted missions that could also include World Market, Nordstroms, and off course Sprouts. If one is on a discount mission, then the nearby Ross's, Five Below, and a short drive to the nearby TJX, Home Goods, Dollar Tree, & Grocery Outlet can take up a whole weekend of time.

What a fantastic store. They had a great sale on beads, and my daughter got so many awesome ones…read morehere for half price! She was very excited about that, and we got to spend some much needed father/daughter time together. Very polite and helpful staff. I will be back! Thanks hobby lobby! A++
