A fun place to go if you want to bowl! They have multiple lanes, a private room for parties, mini golf, and an arcade! The staff is nice and efficient (there was a problem with our lane which took about 30 minutes to solve but he added the time back to our reservation). The ball selection could be better, the weights weren't written on the balls for some which would've been nice. We were a big group and they accommodated us with no issues. The good thing is that this place is huge so even on a Saturday night, there were many lanes still available. They've got arcades at the entrance, and also air hockey, foosball and pool tables. They state on their website that they have 72 lanes with half for small pins and half of them for regular pin bowling. There were lanes and shoes readily available for our group of 4. The cons is that the place is showing its age--everything is old. The shoes, the machines, the balls, etc. The balls are pretty dinged up with dents in them. For the regular pin bowling, they didn't have many lighter balls. Most of them were very heavy. But that wasn't the problem--it's the fact that all the bowling balls were disgustingly greasy! People eat and put their greasy paws on the balls and it looks like the staff don't clean the balls. Since I've not gone bowling for at least a dozen years, I don't recall ever playing with greasy bowling balls. Can anyone tell me if this is the norm? We all enjoyed the small pin bowling so it was cool that there were plenty of lanes available for that. To switch lanes, you need to request that at the counter. I would go back but would bring some Lysol wipes to clean the balls before playing. read more

Ah, bring on the nostalgia. This place is gigantic and has 72 lanes. Yes, you read that right: 72 freaking lanes (36 for 10 pin and 36 for 5 pin bowling). Prices are reasonable enough. Depends on how many people you come with. You go to the counter to get your lane set up; service is slow but the guys were nice. You can get a lane by the hour (for up to 6 people max). We went with the 3 hour option ($55.00). Shoe rentals also cost $2.17. Old school pixelated monitors, vintage lanes, what else do you want? We had a great time and were able to whip out 5 games in our allotted time slot. It would be cool if you could switch between 5 and 10 pin, but we stuck with the latter. There were a lot of families and groups of friends when we went. There's six other locations around (who knew?) the city so plenty of options to get your bowl on. read more

A retro looking bowling alley. The moment you walk in the door, you just smell a mouldy odour. They need to get rid of that. Also, they need to have stricter rules in the bathroom and invest in soap dispensers instead of squeeze bottles. You can smell cigarette smoke and 420 inside. How could you possibly let people do that inside...? As for the bowling, the lanes tend to often malfunction, my ball would usually get stuck in the back, and would require someone to get it for me. Sometimes, the pins would randomly fall in the gutter causing blockage. Most of the time, this makes the system miscalculate the points. Even though I know I am able to edit the score, it is frustrating. For these reasons, playing by the hour is highly NOT recommended as you would be spending more time asking for help than playing. I like the fact you are able to get yourself a membership. For people that come often, it is a great way to save. When you get your membership, they give you these coupons that you can only use before a certain period... and if you keep the part with your number... you can get a discount on your next purchase of an extra 50 or 100 games. However, the numbered part is renewed every year, so you eventually will be paying the full price of the membership... that is unless you play a lot... The reason I keep coming back is because Laurentien Lanes do not offer memberships. If they did, I would most likely go there instead. read more

Hidden away, like a bad secret by the edge of the city (St Jacques and Cavendish) No doubt an area of Montreal, where I was born and Baptised. Every once once in awhile, I like to rekindle my youth by visiting the ROSE BOWL . The bus stop remains to be there , however, if you got wheels take them. It remains to be as it was many years ago. This is a huge bowling alley that has approximately 60 lanes (a mixture of large and small pin bowling lanes). The monitors are old school (pixelated) but still do the trick. I hadn't been to Rosebowl in a while and decided to stop in for date night. Little casse-croute (hot dogs, chips, drinks & BEER) open until 2 AM which is awesome. Game price was very reasonable ($15 for 3 games) and even include your shoe rental. The place was clean and everything worked well except for a collection of broken down games in the arcade. The only downside was that this location can't print out the score sheets. The best part? They employ a young gentleman who is deaf and he works as maintenance/shoe guy. The cashier will mention to you to sign your shoe size when he's helping out and I think it's a great effort that tells you what kind of place you're in. Barely noticed a little bar off to the side.... PS my purple fuzzy bowling shoes were effing cute. read more

We went bowling here for the first time at a kid's birthday party. We had a great time! It's a huge place that guarantees you and your group will have undisturbed enjoyment. They have duck pins and one of those lane slides that allows young kids to position their ball more easily to improve aim. Perfect for my preschool-aged kids. We later came back a second time for more bowling fun. Yes, it's a bit run down, and the food is fried mediocrity, but from what I understand, it's practically an institution from seedier days gone by...so I'm all about preserving that. read more

I have been to Rose Bowl numerous times over my life. It was fun when we had birthday parties there as children. The lanes, however, have become run down and seemingly haven't changed since I was a child. The menu items, such as French fries, show old photographs and do no represent the food you actually receive. On a recent visit with friends we paid to have a lane for an hour. After 20 minutes our lane stopped working. After informing the staff it took 15 minutes for the lane to be operational. After a couple more minutes the lane was on the fritz again. We waited patiently for over ten minutes for the lane to function however to our dismay it malfunctioned again after our next shot. There were no other lanes to switch us to and other lanes were experiencing similar issues. We asked if we could just get a refund for the time we had yet to use as we didn't want to wait around for the lane to get fixed just for it to stop working again. We were told that we could not get a refund and that it was a gamble we take that a lane will or will not work when we pay for an hour. Despite us having waited to for a functioning lane for over 30 minutes we were given only 5 extra minutes of time. We returned our shoes and left and have not been back since. read more

the worst bowling experience! Beside having balls that are missing pieces, the alleys are broken! Worst customer service. The pins were falling by themselves, didn't throw any balls yet, and the monitor recorded it as a strike/spare. We found it funny at the beginning, but it started getting on our nerves when it happened during the whole game. Talk to whoever was present at the desk. The staff said and I quote " are you sure the alley is broken or you guys don't know how to play?". No effort was made to fix the issue or to change the lane. LANE 27 BY THE WAY! We were about to play 2 additional hours but with what we were told, we don't know how to play bowl, so we did not bother spending more money there. I used to love this place. As a kid, we used to have tons of birthday parties and camp reunions...it was really a great place. It's sad to see that maintenance of the lanes and the business vision all together just went down the drain. I was there on a Saturday night for what started out to be a good night. Midway through our first game, the pins started to create their own rules: coming down 8 at a time instead of 10, resetting games on its own, ending games sporadically, etc. The first couple times this happened a technician tried to help. By the end of the first game, one on every two sets was screwed up. When I went up to the clerk, who I believe is the manager, to ask to switch lanes, he seemed annoyed with my request, barely looked at me and mumbled a number. Being that it was a Saturday and surprisingly not busy, I thought we were going to have a new lane altogether. Instead he switches us to the one next to where we were playing but part of the same set of lanes. Unfortunately, that lane was even worse. The technician came out again, let us throw a couple more balls and 3 shots before the end of the game decided to move us 10 lanes over. Good idea we thought....wrong!! First drop of the pins and 9 pins were on the lane..by now we had had enough. Unfortunately for us, the manager just thought doing absolutely nothing and being a complete ass was the answer to helping unsatisfied customers... Tonight was the last night at rosebowl. read more
