Some days I convince myself that the Quicktrip chicken taquitos are my favorite food (please don't judge me). In my high school days, these chicken taquitos were good for a lot: after school snack driving with friends, after practice snack refueling with friends, after party snack soaking up alcohol with friends...and the list goes on. This was like my go-to food.
Back in the day they were less than a dollar, now it's $1.19 (I'd resentfully pay $2 for one if that's what they'd stick me for). Prices go up, but these little roll-ups still pack the same punch - and when I tell people this I get either "Man, I know!" or "Ew," plain and simple.
QT's good for a lot more though - for nothing else it should be commended for being a well-oiled machine. Business, from day break to midnight is always BOOMING, people want their coffee and doughnuts before work, people want gas all day and especially after work, people want chicken taquitos!
And the drinks! EVERYDAY, like clockwork, the St. Teresa's girls crowd the parking lot after school for their 32 oz (Rooster Booster is the drink of choice, a high energy, high sugar strawberry drink - I would mix mine with Diet Dr. Pepper - it sounds gross, but its still the best drink I've ever had).
You have to love a place that lets you play with your food (or drink in this matter) as much as we did - mixing and matching different flavors. QT even posts drink-mixing recipes on the storefront to try, all for the same low price.
The service is FAST - I've never waited in line more than a full minute and that's on a busy day. I don't know how they manage to do it, always smiling and friendly from the first customer to the thousandth by the end of the day with the same line "Have a good day! Next in line please!"
This summer, I came everyday for my coffee and the sweet man behind the counter shared with my that for only 79 cents a day instead of $1.29, I could just bring in the same cup for a refill - and I followed through - (they trusted me that it was my ow cup that I had brought from home and gave me the lesser price - anyone could just as easily lie about it, but they give their customer's the benefit of the doubt).
QT has many more amazing little things like that, that make me feel like service isn't dead, you know, that people still care enough to try to make things easier! And for nothing else, they've got the best taquitos EVER (chicken of course, the beef are GROSS! ahahaha, it's true.) read more
