I have been dining at Planet Sub for many years, but not the last 12 as we lived in Las Vegas. As soon as I remembered this place, my wife and I made a beeline to have lunch here. The gal who helped us at the counter, was super helpful and kind. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and even the restrooms. I highly recommend this location. Their toasted dubs are the best. We've tried several things on the menu, and all of them are absolutely excellent. You can't go wrong here!

I work from home now, I don't get out and about to my previous Planet Sub locations I frequented near my places of work before. But this place is worth a local "road trip" to treat myself to one of the best sandwich shops in the Kansas City area. IMHO, it puts the "freaky fast" and other competitors to shame. There is a large variety of sandwiches, never a lack of something to pick from when you go in there. And they genuinely come out hot! I love that they expanded the chips selection from when I used to go there before I was sent to work from home. Their cookies are second to none. And a decent selection of sodas at the fountain as well. I have to knock it one star due to no fault of the people who run this place, but for the corporation that owns them. It's disappointing that they have closed locations near me. I understand business choices, having to close restaurants due to increases in rent/poor performing, etc. But this is the only one on the side of the state line in Missouri, and that's very disappointing. I wish they would come back to Lee's Summit.

Normally, chicken isn't my favorite, but this one truly stands out. Plus, despite the risks of delivery, it was clearly packed with care and purpose. And the dessert? Absolutely delightful!

Wings: The garlic parm was the standout -- fresh, flavorful, and honestly better than my usual Buffalo Wild Wings order. The tikka masala didn't really taste like tikka masala (more like a standard BWW flavor), but it was still tasty. The only drawback was the size of the wings -- smaller than I expected. Next time I'll probably go for the 16 or 20 piece. Waffle: I picked the Belgian waffle with maple syrup dip. It came hot but not crispy, with just a dusting of powdered sugar. Still sweet and enjoyable, though next time I want to try the bubble waffle for something different. Fries: Got the seasoned fries on the side -- good flavor and seasoning, though like the waffle, they weren't super crisp. Still tasty on their own, but I would've loved an option to pick dips (ranch, queso, garlic parm, etc.) instead of just being handed four maple syrups. Extras & Drinks: They also offer mac & cheese or the bubble waffle as side options, plus unique teas and lemonades for $1 more, or milkshakes for $4.50. Prices on extra dips are $0.99 each. Overall, it's a fun and unique concept -- fair-style food in a neighborhood spot. The food is flavorful, not always the crispiest or warmest on carryout, but easily fixed with a microwave or air fryer. I'll definitely be back, especially to try the bubble waffle and maybe some loaded fries or wraps/buns during happy hour (2-4 PM).

Caveat: nostalgia definitely plays a role here…read more Wendy's used to be my go-to in high school and college, so I went back and ordered a Baconator meal and tried the caramel cream Frosty. Total came out to around $20. The Baconator itself was a normal-to-large size (I'm used to ordering off the value menu or junior burgers now), but the taste just didn't hit. It reminded me of a cafeteria burger--kind of dry, no real seasoning, just... there. Fries were hot and had a slight crisp, but again, lacking salt. I ordered ranch, which saved them a bit, but on their own they were underwhelming. The surprise was the caramel cream Frosty. That actually worked for me--smooth, slightly salty, not your typical syrupy caramel. Hard to describe, but it was easily the best part of the meal. For the price, though, this just doesn't feel worth it anymore. A Baconator meal pushing $15+ shouldn't taste like a dry, overdone burger. Maybe this is a big city thing, but I've noticed fast food in smaller towns often tastes better--probably higher volume, more consistency, fewer shortcuts. Overall: 2.5 stars, but price + quality drops it to a 2. Nostalgia tries to pull it up to a 3, but I can't justify it. Final: 2 stars.

I remember their salad bars back in the day. Anywho, I am a big fan of their apple pecan salad with pomegranate dressing. Goodness this salad does not disappoint. It is so delicious, Apples, well seasoned chicken, blue cheese crumbles, pecans, cranberries oh so good. The service was very good. The restaurant dining area was a bit dirty as someone had tracked some dirt on the floor. No fault of the staff. As they were busy this Saturday afternoon and had not had a chance to get to it yet. I recommend using the app to order as there are some great deals on there. I got my salad free today and that could have very well added to it's deliciousness. I also got a side of fries. They did not taste fresh and the manager made it right. It was a really nice casual experience.
