What a pleasant surprise!!! I had never been to Dos De Oros and man, have I been missing out!!! I got a skinny marg to start and it was top tier! If you know me, you know this is a subject I take very seriously. It was perfectly sweet and it packed a punch!! We kicked things off with the cheese dip and it was amazingly smooth and salty. Our waitress, Daisy, helped me decide my main dish and encouraged I get the Chicken and Spinach Enchiladas. She did not steer me wrong! It was like she read my mind!!! This place was wonderful. The food was delicious, but even more impressive was the staff. The young host seated us quickly and told us to enjoy our meal. Our server (Helen A.) was so friendly and attentive--totally top-notch. She checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. Started off with the Queso Fundido w/ Chorizo, which was cheesy delicious. Continued my meal with the Chicken Spinach Enchiladas - more cheese, yum :) I'd pass on the fries - a tad bit overfried and not salted at all. Decent place for mexican food that has all the options you could want. read more

My husband and I have pretty high standards when it comes to Mexican food and are always on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant, so we decided to try Dos De Oros. The complimentary chips and salsa were nothing special. Queso is kind of the deal breaker for us and unfortunately we didn't love the queso here, but everything else we ordered was 10/10! My husband got the grilled chicken and shrimp- the shrimp was chef's kiss! I got the arroz con pollo, which had the queso in it, but it was a lot better in this than on its own. We got mango margs that were huge and our waitress let us kind of customize. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The restaurant is huge and had a lot of tables/ dining areas. I see this place raved about on NextDoor app all the time! We ordered online for pick up. When we got there, they couldn't find our order in their system. It turned up later after we had to show them our email confirmation and they reset their tablet or something. Finally the found it and ended up not having steak mini chimichanga for my combo, so I went with chicken. I had a combo that was a taco, mini chimichanga, Chile relleno. Mom had chicken alambras. Their chips and salsa were great. Seriously, awesome. The taco was fine. The Chile relleno was definitely not my favorite. It had about a teaspoon of cheese in it and the rest was filled with bland taco meat. The mini chimichanga, I would bet money was a frozen item, similar to those southwest egg rolls you get from Chili's. It was nasty, I never even saw chicken in it. Mom's chicken alambras was good if you only ate the veggies, the chicken was bland and lifeless. We were severely disappointed and don't intend to return. read more

I love going to both the sit down restaurant and the taqueria. This particular location provides ample seating and a more traditional Mexican restaurant ambiance. The staff greet you at the door, seat you, and take your order. They are very hospitable and always in a good mood. I have been here many times and the food is always consistent and accurate. The chips and salsa are always fresh as well since they heat up the chips for you. The portion size is great for the price. I will continue to come here as it is a fan favorite for work and personal dinners. read more

Reviews got us to try this place. So glad we did. The food was tasty and priced reasonably. The chips are thicker than most of the chips I have eaten, but they are good. The salsa was good. The chicken enchiladas with the white sauce was excellent. Service was good as well. They also sell tamales from a freezer near the cash register. Price was reasonable. The restaurant appears to be older, but it was clean. Plenty of parking out front. They accept cash and credit. We will return! read more

This place wasn't near as good as when I went several years ago. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. The ambiance was pretty much cheap-hole-in-the-wall. It was rather hard to hear because of the acoustics. Probably not going back, as it is quite a way from where I live. read more

Loved the food. The chips and salsa to start were very fresh and consistently refilled. Ordered two cheese enchiladas and a beef taco ala carte. The food was outstanding! My only complaint is that after dinner it felt as if we were rushed out of the restaurant. The server didn't ask if we would like more drinks from the bar or even dessert. Upbeat lively music and colorful and helpful staff! Our first time visiting, my grandson really enjoyed his burger. He said he would give it a 8 and would come back again! I tried a pork tamale and it was very flavorful just a tad dry glad they have the cheese. The highlight for me was the ceviche tostada! Very fresh and marinated perfectly! The only reason I'm reserving one star is that we didn't have dinner. We met friends who are from Mexico and had appetizers & margaritas as the culture encourages when friends get together. I especially enjoyed the ceviche (and I'm guessing everyone else too) and it was empty. We also ordered the sampler. We decided to stay longer and also had the Queso Fundido. Cinco de Mayo works not be complete without some margaritas. We all had the margaritas with el Jimador tequila. This place was hoping! read more

Came here with a group of ladies. We were greeted right away and didn't wait long at all for a table. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The food came out fairly fast. I got enchiladas rancheros which was the special. It was very good. Two cheese enchiladas with Carne Asada on top. The chips and salsa were good too and they were always kept full. I'll also ordered a sangria which was pretty tasty, with some fruit in it. I'll visit again if I'm in the area. read more

I've been here several times after playing volleyball at volleyball beach right around the corner. The food is pretty good, the service is friendly and it has a great authentic local atmosphere. The only complaint I have is that I feel things are much higher priced then the other local Mexican places within in a few miles. read more

I hadn't been to this place in years, I am so glad we went back. Our service was great, we went on Thursday which we learned is fajita day, and they were delicious. One order was plenty to share. I have been wanting to go here ever since I heard Dave from the podcast Taco the Town talk about it. I have heard from so many foodies in KC that this place is the best. We finally went and it did not disappoint. We started with queso and it was so good! We flew through our chips and needed to get more pretty quickly. I also really enjoyed the variety of salsa that was on the table. The spiciest was the perfect amount of heat for me. We also ordered the tamales and the Santa Fe tacos. The tamales came with beans and rice which was awesome. And they were huge! I had plenty of leftovers for lunch the following day. We both ordered margs which were massive. Absolutely the best Mexican food in south Kansas City! You will be treated like family, always! Extensive menu filled with everyone's favorites, plus a few surprising items that are equally as great. The Molcajete is a culinary experience and our current favorite. Check out the daily special, which is often newly crafted. The house Margaritas can't be missed, you'll never stop at just one; and the extensive bar offers other drinks as well. The staff puts in hard work and dedication in serving and most have been there for years. This speaks volumes for the owners and it shows in everything they produce. Definitely not a hole-in-the wall, there is ample seating, and they can accommodate larger groups, but plan ahead, as this place is well known and loved so the dinner rush is often times hoppin'! If you want good Mexican food in S. KC area, you'll like this place. It's comfortable and well suitablly decorated. On my 1st visit, l tried a variety of standard dishes. The street tacos were delious & the real deal. Enchiladas were flavourful & cheesee, the tamales were a little dry, but loved the rice and refried beans. She told us she thought we were regulars and if she had known we weren't, she would've been friendly. I was craving nachos and a taco. Taco had tons of flavor and probably one of the best crispy GB tacos I've had in KC metro. Nachos were good but very small so mark down would be due to the value on the nachos. I liked the authentic food, the good portions, and the fair prices, but the dine-in service was slow (except for the efficient kitchen). My #2 lunch special included two soft shell tacos with rice and beans for $7.49. It was served just five minutes after I ordered at the table, which gave me time to start on the complimentary thin and crispy chips with mild, flavorful salsa. The dining area was divided into four rooms (one with a nicely lighted bar), with Mexican background music (a notch or two too loud), and several TVs. I also noticed some drink specials. They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. If you've never been, you should come and see what your opinion is, but really cool aesthetics and great views.
