I had a really disappointing experience with Oscar Lara, despite having had a good experience with…read morehim previously. When my sectional needed to be reupholstered, I trusted his recommendation and paid $6,380. Oscar specifically recommended the fabric for my vacation rental and demonstrated how stains would roll off. Less than a year later, the fabric was showing significant staining. When I contacted Oscar, his solutions were for me to spend another $4,700 to reupholster the sectional or have the cushions dry-cleaned between every rental--an impractical option for a vacation rental with only a three-hour turnover. He took merely $90 of responsibility After I fully explained my concerns, he insulted me and then stopped communicating with me. I relied on his professional recommendation for a significant investment and expected both the fabric and customer service to live up to what was represented. Unfortunately, neither did. I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision about whether Oscar's recommendations and customer service are right for their needs.

I came back after 15 days to pick it up and the lady told me "Carlos started it but it's not finished yet, but it'll be ready at the end of the today or the next morning". I returned in 5 days to pick it up and when the same lady working there saw me she said outloud "oh shit". Well, the bench wasn't only not done but the work hadn't even been started yet. At that point I took it to have done elsewhere. Not only was there no communication but I was lied to about the time line. And the worst thing is telling me the project was started when it wasn't. Just a bunch of disrespectful bold faced lies. Sorry to say I won't be coming back.

After researching, I narrowed down my search to 5 businesses. Josue was not only the first to respond, but did so in a very timely manner. His time frame and cost beat out everyone else. I found his prices to be very fair and straight forward. He stayed true to his timeline of completion that we discussed. I was very pleased with his communication as a whole, especially since some other businesses to which I reached out, failed to even respond to my initial inquiry. Josue performs quality work. The seat pads are firm, and the fabric evenly dispersed. It all looks very clean, and my pictures don't it justice. While they appear grey, it's actually navy blue. I would not only recommend Josue for any upholstery project, but would gladly hire him again in the future. I mistakenly bought a classy-looking two -piece contemporary sofa in "bonded leather" from a local store over ten years ago. I loved the the design -- still loved it after all these years -- but the bonded leather split, cracked and pealed. I gave Carolina Custom Design the task of reviving the old sofa -- this time with real leather -- and the photo below is the result. Looks like my contemporary sofa is now good for at least another ten years or longer, and the seating is much softer and more comfortable to sit on. Don't know what I would do without Karina Young and company. They are clearly miracle workers! Can't begin to praise them for their outstanding work!
