My wife researched drapery companies on-line and decided to call Pacific Drapery. Kathy came out last month (Nov. 2019) with a car load (not an exaggeration) of fabrics for us to choose from. Kathy narrowed the selection down based upon my wife's input, and the fabric was selected. Kathy measured the bedroom, gave us different style options, suggested the lay-out and hardware, and we liked what she proposed. We sealed the deal and the order was made. Their installer, Ivan, then came out and measured the room again, and assessed the installation. Today (12.11.19) Ivan and his helper came out and installed the drapes. They look fabulous, and Ivan and his helper were friendly, courteous, efficient and professional. We will definitely use Pacific Drapery for our future drapery needs, and encourage you to have Kathy come out to your house with her car load of options! read more

Let me continue the chorus of praises for Kathy. This woman is awesome! Straightforward, knowledgeable, and nice. I live in a small top-floor condo that has large sliding glass doors that look over University Avenue. I didn't want to block the view and never installed any kind of window coverings. But, now that I'm renting it out, I had to put something up there for the tenants. I had no idea what to do with it and a limited budget. Kathy came up with a beautiful and practical solution that was budget-friendly. Faux silk blackout drapes. Total privacy when you want it. Push them over to one side when you want to see the beautiful view. They look sophisticated and they should be durable enough to withstand daily use. Also, I needed them installed fairly quickly. They actually came in before my requested deadline. Everyone at Pacific Drapery is very nice. From Nancy, who set the appointment to Ivan, who installed the drapes. If you need window coverings, Pacific Drapery should be the first call you make. read more

Absolutely stunning! Shortly after Ivan, installer for Pacific Drapery, had finished installing the curtains, my husband, Dave, called me. He said they looked fantastic! I asked him with a bit of skepticism, "Okay, on a scale of 1-10, what would you honestly rate them?" Without hesitation he said, "A 15 -- Seriously, I think they look terrific!" He was right! When I got home, I immediately raced to our master bedroom to see the finished product! My eyes widened with astonishment and I said, "Wow! They are absolutely fantastic, just like you said. A 15 indeed! They are even more beautiful and elegant than I ever imagined!" I was so thrilled with the results that I immediately called Kathy Coalter, Home Designer, to express to her our immense gratitude for her amazing eye for design, expertise, and reassurance during the process. Here's why. Dave and I have spent the last two years remodeling our home and everything has come together in rather miraculous ways. We only had the curtains in our master bedroom left to do. We looked at curtains on-line and in stores, but nothing caught our hearts. We decided to look on YELP and see about custom draperies. After looking at several reviews, we were drawn to Pacific Drapery, especially because of the reviews Kathy had as a home designer. We drove down to Pacific Drapery and they scheduled an appointment for Kathy to come directly to our home and give us a free consultation. We were charmed by her energy, impressed by her job knowledge, and captivated by her elegant demeanor. We showed her the room, explained what we imagined in our minds, and it was like this ray of vision enveloped her. It was like she saw in her mind's eye the perfect curtains for us and our room. Within our 40 minute consultation, we had determined the style, fabric, design, and product time frame. When she told us the price, I must admit, I was taken a little aback. It was a bit beyond what we had budgeted. But there was something about the vision that Kathy seemed to have -- a part of her creative talent and skill. While we couldn't see what she was seeing, we were convinced that what she was seeing would be perfect. So we entered into a contract right then and there. She not only wrote on the contract, "Order fabric today," but she mentioned it a couple of times verbally. It all happened quite fast, but there was something extraordinarily exciting about Kathy and her excitement about what the finished product would be like. Based upon previous YELP reviews, we were convinced that Kathy's home design skills could be trusted. Nevertheless, after 3 days, I panicked. I called Kathy and shared with her my nervousness. "Was the fabric going to look good in the room?" She was so sweet and understanding. She offered to send us a swatch of the fabric, but I knew in my heart then that it was going to be okay. I knew that this was Kathy in her element of creativity and all would be well. When the installation day arrived, I couldn't wait to see what the final result would be. As noted in the beginning, the high quality fabric, the book pleated valance, the curtains hung from ceiling to floor, the cyrstal wand, the blackout liner, and the Book Pleated panel to the left, were all extraordinary. As you can see, we are more than thrilled with the final result! Kathy is an incredible designer and Ivan is an incredible installer! We are so grateful for their talent, experitise, and work quality! read more

Kathy has an amazing eye for what will work in a room. With her encyclopedic knowledge of color, texture, and weight she helped me select drapes and shades to transform our home into a haven and our guest house into a retreat. The floor length white pleated sheers on black rods in our living and dining room are stunning. And the Roman shades in the bedrooms coordinate beautifully with our furnishings. I can't say enough about this company. Kathy shows up prepared to match my ideas and visions. She goes out of her way to find specifics I'm looking for. Makes my process short and simple. Her knowledge from pleats to tassels, lighting, to design. She is the go to. Ivan is also amazing at telling me where I want my measurements for each room. Every drapery is different. It is an ART and they nail it. They have done all my Children's nursery's. The quality is incomparable and my kids sleep peacefully in a perfect blacked out room. My living room drapes make me so happy. They have even repaired custom drapes I have done before that were done incorrectly. I cannot thank them enough!!! read more

This is our second time using Pacific Drapery. First was for our condo in Hillcrest which had floor to ceiling windows. Kathy recommended motorized window shades which were functional as well as very esthetic. We just recently moved to an Oceanside condo which had original bamboo window shades. Couldn't wait to get rid of those. Kathy recommended shutters that go with our beach theme. The white shutters are well crafted and has made our condo look light and bright. The installers (Paul and Allen) were extremely meticulous and paid attention to every detail. Once again we are very happy with Pacific Drapery and highly recommend them. read more

this is my second time using Pacific Drapery and once again they knocked it out of the park. Kathleen and her staff where extremely helpful from start to finish. I had a very loose idea of how I wanted my drapes and Kathleen sat down with me and went over all my options until we had something that was uniquely me. My custom drapes are beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Every pleat, swoop, and stitch is perfect. I never could have found these at a store. Worth every penny!!! As a side note Pac. drapery has an in house upholsterer who covered my antique victorian couch and chair which belonged to my great grandmother. They are breath taking. Highly recommended. I had a special request for a room divider that would have the same material and look equally nice on both sides. In addition the material was quite heavy. Kathleen and the team came up with the way to make this happen, though it was not a standard curtain that covers a wall. Kathleen verified the measurements, made several suggestions and provided options for me to chose from. She also gave me practical tips about hanging the curtains. That really helped. The result is a beautiful set of curtains panels that look rich and function very well. Overall I am a very satisfied customer. In 2019 my c'mas gift to myself was new window coverings for my living and dining rooms. I called Pacific Drapery and was pleased by their friendliness, helpfulness, and willingness to work within my schedule (phys therapy 3x a week). Kathy, interior designer, was amazing to work with and helped me make the perfect choice for my rooms and my taste. The installer (sorry, don't remember his name) was professional, cheerful, and asked my preferences at a couple of points to ensure I was pleased with the outcome. The drapes and Roman shades hang perfectly and unify my rooms. I was so pleased with everyone at Pacific Drapery. Makes me wish I needed more window coverings!! :o) read more

Had a great experience with Pacific Drapery. Interviewed 3 drape companies before deciding to go with Pacific. Kathy was not only on time and prepared with the information I had provided her, she helped suggest designs for curtains that improved upon the design I had in mind. She was also helpful in keeping things under budget - drapes can be expensive! In contrast, some of the other companies I talked to obviously did not look at the information I sent before meeting me and were woefully unprepared or were lacking in customer service. The installation of the curtains went smoothly and on schedule as I had told Kathy I needed them before a housewarming party. My room now looks great and beautiful for a great price! read more

We just had our new draperies installed and we couldn't be happier! They look beautiful, dramatic and they're just what we wanted. Kathy, our designer, was terrific! She understood the look we were going for, the reasons we wanted a heavy fabric and heavy lining, and her patience as we selected just the right fabric should get her a sainthood. Pacific Drapery fully deserves their five star rating. You won't be disappointed. read more

Nearly 20 years ago we bought lovely curtains from Pacific Drapery for our 100 year old home in North Park...and just went back to Pacific Drapery when we finally had to replace them. We love this neighborhood business. The entire staff is focused on making sure you are happy with their services. Designer Kathy Coalter was on top of the job from fabric selection to installation, the installation team was top-notch and a small problem was fixed immediately. Keeping an open and airy feel to our home was important, but we wanted privacy as well. Now we have both in an historically sensitive style curtain that really enhances our home inside and outside. read more

We've used Pacific Drapery over the years. Kathy was very helpful bringing fabrics to the house to assist us in finding the perfect color for our room. I hate to decorate but needed new drapery and found Pacific Drapery through YELP. I sent photos of my house and explained the colors and patterns I liked. Kathy came over with a car load of books but only brought 5 to my home. They were perfect and I immediately found the two fabrics I loved. I know she would have spent hours or days if I needed that much attention, but I particularly loved that we accomplished the selection, measuring and pricing in about an hour. They were done perfectly and ahead of schedule. The installers were professional and fast. When 2 sections were a bit short, they took them back and returned that afternoon perfectly done. I highly recommend this company. read more

I was very disappointed in the experience I had with Pacific Drapery. I liked our old drapes in the master bedroom but they needed to be replaced. I called Pacific Drapery and when Kathy came to my home I explained I wanted everything to be the same, especially the shade of white. It was very important that this be right, since we had two very long walls of windows to be covered. She showed me a sample that she advised looked very similar and I went with it. When the new drapes were hung, I was surprised to see that instead of being white, they were a horrible rusty looking shade with an orange cast. As if rusty looking drapes wasn't bad enough, one panel had a thick black thread , one third down, running across the whole panel, very visible from across the room. Kathy came to see and said, "They look awful." Her words. Back the drapes went, and my old ones went back up. At this time I was told that not only would I lose my 50% deposit, but I was probably liable for the entire amount. I was asked to call the owner, since only she could make that determination. I called, and bottom line, I didn't have to pay the entire amount. But Pacific Drapery had my substantial deposit, the drapes, and I had nothing to show for it but a horrible experience. I have since had beautiful drapes made at another shop, and I would never go to Pacific Drapery again. read more

Almost three years later, I'm back at Pacific Drapery for another project. I had some fabric left over from my precious drapery project and decided to have three new roman shades made to replace my 15 year old Conran shades. Of course I only thought of Barbara at Pacific Drapery...I had a million questions and she answered each one! The finished product exceeded my expectations. My original plan was to install the shades myself but that proved to a bit more challenging...Although I did get one up! I called my friend Barbara and she sent out Ivan who installed the two remaining shades in about an 1/8th of the time it took me to put up one! If you are looking for a first class drapery experience (and installation!), look no further than Pacific Drapery...They are the BEST! read more

I am a repeat customer of Pacific Drapery. They've customized my curtains and most recently, created a beautiful bedspread. All of the staff are very welcoming, creative, and competent - but the company's owner and president, Kathleen, leads by example. She is a kind soul and knows her stuff. If there is a more cost effective way of getting the project completed, it will be suggested. Nevertheless, I always feel that I paid for a quality product and that they are a principled company that takes pride in their work. I will always come back for any needs within their purview. An A+ company, for sure! read more

I had an ok, unsatisfactory experience. I think they're overpriced, but I think it's the price you pay to get their beautiful fabrics. They have so many options that you probably will see something you like. Other than that, I don't see anything else that makes them stand out. They claim that their inner fabric is special because it blocks the heat and cold well, however, I doubt that it is any more special than the rest of the competitors. The cord that they use is cheap and plastic. I've seen other companies having better methods like for example, the curtains going up when you pull the cord in one angle and the curtain going down in the opposite direction. I should have done more research on different companies before we chose Pacific Drapery. I did like Kathy though. I am not sure if she is the owner, but she was informative and she was pretty thorough with the process. So one thing that went majorly wrong was when the service guy came to install our curtains, he installed the cords on 2 of our 4 windows on the wrong side! We had just hired another company to install window casings a week prior to contacting Pacific Drapery too, and our windows are huge so it's a big mistake. Each of our four windows is about 6 feet wide and nearly 8 inches deep, so the curtains were installed towards the front of the casing. We wanted it as close to the window as possible, and the 8 inch gap away from the windows definitely made our room feel smaller. We contacted Kathy and asked her about the cord placement because I recalled that she had made a note on it. She called us back and confirmed that we were right. She had to send the guy back again to fix the mistakes. They both were very apologetic about it, but guess what? THEY REFUSED TO PATCH UP THE HOLES THEY MADE! It's been almost a year since it happened and the holes are still there. :( Needless to say, we are not hiring them again to complete our other rooms. read more

I had Kathy, what a doll, come to our home and give us ideas on drapery for our Master Bedroom and an extra bedroom. We signed a contract and paid fifty percent down the week before the lockdown. The beautiful shades and curtains in my great room were made by Pacific. I was unsure about window covering options for this area of my hone, as it has double hung and sliding windows, a patio door and an arch above the kitchen sink window. Kathy came to my home with fabric samples and hardware brochures. She was immensely valuable in assisting me in selecting the perfect fabric for my needs and aesthetic appeal. I went a bit over my budget, as they are higher priced than most, but what you get is a top-quality product and the best customer and follow up service in the business. Highly recommend. read more

Very disappointed with Pacific Drapery. I originally had an in depth phone consult with Barbara to have my existing drapes hemmed. She was very personable, knowledgable and helpful. I was provided a quote and drop off instructions. Covid happed and delayed my drop off. Upon calling to schedule the drop off, I was told the drapes need to be dry-cleaned before dropping them off, which I completely understand. So I took all my drapes down and dropped them at the cleaners and THEN they called me back to tell me the price is NOW MORE THAN DOUBLE THE ORIGINAL QUOTE!!! My initial contact with Barbara was great, she was very professional and a pleasure to work with. And the original pricing was fair and in line with other quality drapery companies I talked to. I chose PD because I was hoping to have the remainder of my window treatments made by them after getting these ones hemmed. My subsequent conversations were with an administrative person who had no answers to any of my questions and was not helpful at all. She was just a message relay person. I asked to talk to Barbara but was told she was not there... and no one else was available. I was very optimistic to work with this company. However due to the completely unprofessional treatment I received, I prefer to take my business elsewhere. read more

I'd like to tell you about the awesome shutters we purchased from Pacific Drapery, but unfortunately we have no idea what they look like. We had them come out in November, measure, and take a $4k + deposit. Never heard from them again. I tracked them down and was told "Oh, they called you last week. The shutters will be there in JANUARY." Umm...no one called to tell us that we would be without window coverings until January, no. For almost $10,000, you would expect some degree of customer service. We'll be the house with sheets on the windows until Pacific Drapery decides to eventually get our very expensive shutters together. I envy all of you with 5 star reviews. I found Pacific Drapery online and gave a few other businesses a call. My need was a bit unique, even Pacific Drapery haven't come across it. I have a glass garage door in my living room that I wanted covered with curtains. She got an answer on the spot and before I knew it I was signing the contract. The Best! We needed to replace our store-bought, ten-year-old faded drapes and wanted something better to cover our large sliding glass door that gets solid afternoon sun. Well we've just had our new drapes installed and they are fabulous! We couldn't be happier. They are beautifully made in wonderful fabric with a thermal liner that lets in just enough light. They hang from a rod nicely and slide open easily and now we can open them individually. The color complements our room perfectly and actually make it look bigger - just perfect. Wow! Kathy Coalter was a delight to work with - so sharp and professional, knows what looks good but is not overbearing, and efficient. The colors we chose work perfectly. Great work for my Kensington Home and my Boat! I have a house in Kensington with BIG windows and Pacific Drapery did a fantastic job of creating beautiful custom drapes. They had suggestions on special treatments and lining that made the drapes art. I also had some custom pillows and upholstery work done--all excellent. I then had them do some drapes for my boat. Many companies don't want to do this type of work because each window is different and space is tight. The drapes look good and work well--critical in getting boat drapes right. We highly recommend Pacific Drapery. Kathleen (Pacific Drapery Owner) and her skilled team created a STUNNING and clever black-out drapery application for our bedroom wall of windows for our downtown condo where it is noisy and oftentimes very windy making the process of creating an optimal drapery system somewhat challenging. Because of that strong cross breeze the drapes needed to be constructed in a way that they would not fly out onto the balcony. We wanted gorgeous drapes AND wanted to be able to open the sliding doors and have a way to tightly seal the drapes to block the light. To address the cross-breeze challenges Pacific Drapery came up with three solutions. First, they used rope-type weights inside the bottom hem. Second, they attached snaps to the leading edge of the drapes and installed reciprocal snaps in the wall so that the drapes could be snapped in place allowing us to enjoy an almost completely blacked-out room during daylight hours, when desired (ingenious!) (The snaps on the drape are hidden by a beautiful fold of the drapery fabric.) Third, they installed loops on the bottom of the drape into which we slide a long heavy weighted bar so that the drapes don't balloon out when the door is completely open. Pacific Drapery was especially helpful and patient in their willingness to meet with us to discuss some of these myriad elements. (They even came to our home to ensure that all of the bases were covered as we neared completion). We are happy to say that the end result was a one-of-a-kind, ingenious, beautifully constructed and handsome drape specifically tailored to our unique constraints ..........beyond our expectations. We look forward to using them for the next project. On a side note: One of their skilled seamstresses also created a small sample drape before the drapes went into production so that we could see if the pleating style would work with our bedroom decor. They were also more reasonably priced than the two other drapery makers that we'd contacted for quotes.....not to mention that every member of their team was helpful and pleasant every step of the way ! Pacific Drapery also offered multiple color options of fine quality black-out liner fabrics, which the other two drapery makers did not offer. Couldn't be more pleased. read more

Kathy has everything you need to see and the bid is complete when she leaves your house. We used Pacific Drapery for our home remodel with roman shades in one room and single length non-functioning panels in another room. I can tell you that I was quite impressed with their service and the quality of their work. I chose them in large part because of these yelp reviews. Kathy, their sales liaison, was my primary contact and she would routinely return emails and calls within minutes. She must have come out to our home at least 3 or 4 times to review fabrics and colors and prices and never seemed to push any particular product. She was awesome! Kathleen, the office liaison, wanted to make sure the job went well. She even ordered a sample fabric to demonstrate the type of pleat (in this case cartridge) just to make sure we were happy with it before she manufactured the panels. We initially were planning on faux romans but she recommended that we do functioning ones since we wanted folds at the bottom and the labor was very similar. That was also a great suggestion. Ivan, the installer, was great as well. He worked meticulously and answered several questions that we had before and after the install. Overall, I would give Pacific Drapery a very strong recommendation. Our interior designer recommended another company and the prices were about the same but I felt that I received much better customer service with this company than the other one. I still have a few rooms to do so I will definitely be using them again. read more
