Pros - The quote Fernando gave me was fair, and he and his team did a decent job…read more Cons - If he agrees to do the job, be prepared to be ghosted or have your time wasted. He came a day later than he told me he would, without telling me ahead of time. Replaced my mulched area with gravel without telling me. He also left a giant pile of gravel on my lawn for a full day, killing a big patch of grass. I needed paver bricks laid, and he rebuilt pillars on the patio without telling me. While rebuilding the pillars, he cut the wire that was connected to light fixtures that are on top of the pillars. Fernando would not admit that he cut the wire, but I confirmed with an electrician that there is no power running to the end of those wires, so they were cut along the way. After weeks of calling Fernando and asking him to come out to take a look at the light fixtures, he either never responded or ghosted me. Stay safe and spend a little more money to have work done by people that won't damage your property and won't waste your time.

Larry from Pappas Contracting came to my house to provide me an estimate on replacing a deck. I…read moreoriginally wanted composite but Larry convinced me that he preferred a Cedar treated wood that he assured me was better quality than the composite. He indicated to me that he has installed a lot of decks and convinced me that he would be a great company to hire. He also was able to start immediately. The day he started he showed up late and took a long lunch. The next day, he showed up and 1/2 later indicated he was going to breakfast. He came back 1 hour later and worked for an hour, then indicated he was going to lunch. He worked a total of an hour and by 1 pm, I texted him to ask if he was coming back? He finally showed back up at 2pm. Then left by 4. He completed the boards and asked me what I thought. He was going to leave a 6 in gap from the end of the deck to my fence. I told him that was not acceptable because someone could fall through that gap and get hurt. So I asked him to put in a railing. He then added he had to charge me extra for that and I said fine because I could not leave that gap open. The railing is 13 feet long. He put two 4x4 posts on the ends, but nothing in the middle to support the 13 feet. I didn't know what was compliment because I'm not a person who builds decks. We had a friend come over and let us know that was not compliant, so I called Larry to ask him to come and add the post to make the deck compliant. He proceeded to tell me that he didn't want to sound mean, but the whole deck was not compliant? I paid him to put in a deck and he was the professional so I wondered why he said that? I had additional wood and a full post left over that he did not use that I paid for in my yard, so I asked him to come back and install the post that should have been put in in the first place. He told me I had to wait two weeks until he was available. I said ok. On that day he was supposed to come, I texted and asked what time he would be coming. He gave me a bunch of run around and never showed up. This company is not reliable. They lie and do shady work that is not compliment and will not pass an inspection. I would not recommend this company to anyone. He also spoke to me as if he was doing me a favor. He kept coming up with reasons why I owed more money and even said I owed $100 extra for coming to put in the post he should have put in when he was here. I also asked him to replace two of the boards that have a glue like substance on top that is very sticky and cannot be removed, he told me to go tell Menards to replace them and see what they say? He hand picked the wood himself and I have no receipt from the store. Plus the boards are already installed?? The pictures show the railing with no support in the middle and the large gap he was going to leave open if I didn't pay extra for the railing that I had to tell him to put in so no one would get hurt falling in that hole. I found Larry to be rude and arrogant and very unprofessional. Hire him at your own risk.
