Last week, we stopped for gas while on a road trip from Columbus to Mammoth Cave NP. My husband's credit card dropped after paying at the pump. We didn't discover that it was gone until we'd arrived at our motel for the evening in Seaman. Fortunately, the Shoppe's phone number was on the receipt. I called and learned that a VERY HONEST PERSON had retrieved the card and brought it into the store for safekeeping. Another hero! The very nice lady who answered the phone advised me to call in the a.m. when Jackie would be on duty. I did. Jackie was a delight to talk to, and promised to mail the card to our home when she went to the bank that afternoon. She did - and confirmed with another phone call. We arrived home Saturday evening, and the envelope was in our collected mail at the post office on Monday. You know, I never even went into the Shoppe, as I wasn't hungry or thirsty - but I know that it has to be a good place because it's run by my new hero, Jackie. The last time I went there, the employee got so angry that I could not afford a prescription that she took my other stuff and literally slammed it on the counter then threw it at me. This was in May/June 2025. There were multiple witnesses, employees and patients, and they looked as horrified as I was. I phoned Medicare later and was told Medicare pays for such shots in full for those over age 65 if the provider accepts assignment. CVS does, but would not refund the money to us. Today, August 6,2024, recreational and medical dispensaries were legally opened in the state of Ohio. A few more other states were made legal today also. I'm in Ohio this week and made sure to pop in and become a part of recreational usage deemed legal. When I got there, I stood outside the door until Security let myself and 2 older men inside. They asked for our ids, input our names in a system, and gave us a ticket. We waited for our names to be called from 2 women who wore carrying tablets, that I later found out that you order from the tablet (or have placed an online order) and then you can go through a fobbed door to access the area where you would pick up what you order, in "the other room". Ok, so "the other room" was weird. They call your name from this tablet, if there for recreational, you're escorted off to a side room. I felt like I was at a timeshare presentation! And they were asking, "what is your budget today ", "oh you have cash, that's even better, no 3% cc fee, we round up to the nearest dollar, and give you cash back". Say what now?!?! A lil creepy. They need to figure out a different system. I was uncomfortable, but about the business, that I came!
