Then it changed to $1500, then $2500. He didn't do any of the work himself and had to tear out half the install at least once because it clearly was a safety hazard. He charged me $550 for wire that he didn't even use; his employee did a half-ass job that won't pass inspection. In total, they spent less than 12 hours on the job (9 if you skip the part where they had to uninstall the first part) and charged me $3350. That's nearly $400/hr for substandard work. When approached about it, he pretended to listen, but nothing changed. He refuses to return my calls or respond to a certified letter. He's a fast talker, though, so be cautious. We gave him multiple chances to refund the $850 he overcharged us, and he won't reply. We will be reporting him to the labor board and to the Licensing Bureau for electricians. It's unfortunate that he turned out to be so irresponsible.

The installation itself self was very quick, but because the fixture had more than just a few crystals that needed to be individually attached, it took a bit longer.
