The day I went was first thing in the morning, but the place was so mismanaged, with over worked ( or unhappy) staff and just overall not a good atmosphere, I should have left right away, as from the get go it was very busy, unorganized and understaffed at front desk. They take walk-ins, but if you do not have an appointment (earliest available was 5 days away!), you will wait and wait. I was told 10-15 minutes and then finally after an hour of watching craziness, I decided to drive to my doctors in Beverly Hills and do it there. read more

When you're 10 minutes late to an appointment, your punishment should be to rightfully wait. If you forget your prescription at home, you should probably wait another 10. If you tried to call and the overly-automated automated system does not allow you to notify anyone of your lateness (especially because this place takes walk-ins), your punishment should be a little less severe. If you've already called your doctor, had them enter in the prescription 4 times had them email you a copy and somehow this location still can't draw your blood 45 minutes later, there's a problem. I could have gone home, gotten the prescription, and come back faster than this. "We need the fax" doesn't quite make sense if I've already showed you an email directly from the doctor. Isn't that like me having the prescription? If you're worried that it's fake, then call the doctor. Good customer service isn't a secret, but it definitely doesn't exist here. Some small tech company will come disrupt this industry soon enough, I'm sure. Additionally, the yells of "where's the IT number?! It was on the printer!" "Why haven't we checked faxes in 2 weeks?! I can't find anyone's order!" really don't encourage you to ever come back. It's freezing in here and this extremely kind and very pregnant woman asked them to turn it down...the answer? "We can't control it." What is life. I will drive the extra miles to the Beverly Hills location from now on.... maybe it's because I've been fasting for over 13 hours, but I think this is just a little uncalled for. Quest's phlebotomist Douglas got it on his first try. Unheard of. He's amazing. I will never suffer through another blood test anywhere else. As previously mentioned in my only other review, I rarely use Yelp and I never write reviews. But I've found yet another reason to sign onto Yelp. Getting your blood drawn sucks...having to deal with seemingly uncaring and unprofessional medical staff is even worse. Luckily, I happened to stumble upon this great staff at Quest Diagnostics for my yearly bloodwork. BRIAN is hands down the best phlebotomist I've ever had the pleasure of getting my blood drawn with. Excellent bedside manner but also knows exactly what he's doing--he found my vein within two seconds without any trouble and told me I had "excellent veins", which is contrary to what I've been told repeatedly in the past that I have "too small veins" and nurses have even had to pull blood from my HAND because of this. I've had nurses in the past prick me multiple times without success and get frustrated, but Brian had no trouble whatsoever and it was both COMPLETELY painless and effortless. I honestly couldn't believe his level of proficiency and great sense of humor that I told him in the office "I am going to write a Yelp review to rave about you." If you are afraid of needles, hospitals, or doctor's offices, I would strongly recommend going to see Brian. I've had a lot of experience with needing to get bloodwork as I used to be on accutane which required monthly blood drawing, and he is hands down the best experience I've ever had by leaps and bounds. Aside from Brian, the rest of the staff is such a hoot. Funny and engaging and easy to talk to. Deidre sat and chat with me and it felt like speaking with an old friend. There is literally another woman in the waiting room just chilling and doing work from her laptop and not heading to the office because the staff is so warm here and she's not eager to leave. I myself am quite literally sitting in the waiting room right now writing this review and shooting the shit with Douglas, the gentleman at the front desk, about his family and kids and he is about the nicest person you will ever meet. In all sincerity, I seriously hope this helps anyone who reads this! I hated getting my blood drawn until this day. Ok. I've seen all the one and two star ratings for this place and HAD to write a review myself because I have had nothing but BEYOND EXCELLENT experiences at this particular Quest location. Listen. I have to tell you that I am the very biggest CHICKEN in the whole world and even writing this review about a blood test is giving me the shakes. I can't deal with blood tests but I have to have them, certainly once a year for my annual physical. Reluctantly I showed up at this place and an angel from heaven by the name of YESENIA (pronounced Je-Say-Nya) took care of me. She saw I was scared to death and freaking out and was comforting, but not in a condescending way. She was just talking to me in a fun and easy way and then suggested a butterfly needle which is smaller and thinner than a regular needle. I agreed (although at that point nothing would help me since I was anticipating being stuck no matter what the size of the needle and that was making me a nervous wreck. (I know..I'm a baby..you don't have to tell me!!) I asked her to please put the rubber band around my sleeve instead of directly on my skin and she happily complied with my request. I hate that rubber band, the way it feels when tied around my bare skin. She was very accommodating to my insanity (imagine she does this a million times a day and here comes a grown woman who is scared to death of something she can do in her sleep!!!!) I felt ridiculous as always, but what can I do??? It's a phobia, I suppose, but it's very real to me!!! Anyway, I told her "please just do it and don't tell me when you're about to do it. Just do it, okay?" She said with a cute little grin, "It's already in and I've already got the first vial of blood!" I said, "You're kidding me, right?" She said, "No. Look!!!!" I said, "I'll take your word for it. I'm not looking, no way. I'll pass out if I see it". Then she announced, "Ok, you're done." And I said, "You took it out?" And she said, "Yes, you're all done! See?" And she put a piece of cotton with tape on my vein and I left with my "white badge of courage" which I didn't remove all day because it reminded me of how brave I was (LOL!!!!!!!) This was last year, by the way. Just yesterday I had to go back again and hence began the same exact scenario all over again because much to my glee and delight Yesenia was still working there and she even remembered me and remembered to use the butterfly needle!!! I guess I'm memorable compared to others who just walk in, get their blood drawn without a big deal. Not me. Phlebotomists definitely remember me. And if you read this too-long review you will understand why! Bless you Yesenia. Oh, by the way, if you go there around 11 am there's no one there at all. I was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes. It would have been 10 if she used a regular needle. The butterfly needle is tiny and takes about a minute longer than a regular thicker needle. Love this place. Maria at the front desk is so friendly and efficient. Nice to feel welcomed. Robin, the phlebotomy technician, is amazing. I did not feel a thing! Robin is also so friendly and welcoming. Even though my physician is with UCLA we insist on having our labs done at Quest. Having an insurance plan with a high deductible I appreciate that Quest's charges are much less than UCLA. You can walk in or make an appointment. I've never had to wait long. Parking is in the structure. The facility is so clean and the waiting room has an amazing view. I highly recommend Quest in Santa Monica. read more

When I waked in, everyone waiting there looked like death. No one on the Reception Desk. There is an iPad that you have to sign into. So I figured I had to sign in in order to talk to a human being. I signed in and the wait time told me 30 minutes. I waited maybe 5 min before I saw someone who actually worked there, it was a nurse or Dr of some sort, looking for some papers in the fax machine and then he went straight to the back. It feels as if customers don't matter at this place. I walked out and left about 15 into waiting. I don't think anyone who worked there noticed because no one was ever in the front and I had no clue how long it would actually take until I heard from someone. A few weeks later I went back and this time there was someone at the front. I felt a little better knowing someone was there to answer anyone's questions or concerns. As I was waiting there was a little kid and his mom waiting as well but the kid was sick and badly coughing. As they got called in, the nurse rudely said to the kid, "put this on because I don't need you coughing on me." To paint a better picture, the poor kid was only like 4 to 5 years old. I stood up for them a said out loud, "that is very rude of you to say" and the nurse replied with a poorly excuse saying that she was on her period and she wasn't in the mood to be there. I didn't want to make a big seen in front of that poor sick kid that I just said quit and waited for my turn. When I called in I was unfortunate to have that same rude nurse, but again I just said quite because I had fasted to take some blood work done and wasn't in the mood for anything. My point to all this is that this place really badly needs to work on their customer service or just hire new people. read more

This was one of the worst experiences ever. Our doctor's office made an appointment for us and sent in the required information. When we arrived there was a room full of people. Signed in and it went downhill from there. They didn't have the appointment nor the doctors orders, which had been sent three times. Called the doctor from there and waited while they faxed another copy. We were there for almost 11/2 hours. Judith was the only person to draw blood and she was the nicer of the two workers and did a good job. The other person was just out and out rude to to everyone. I wish I could give zero stars. What an awful experience. My 2 year old daughter's pediatric GI sent us here to run a blood panel. We got to the office at around 4:30 pm on a Thursday, and you could tell that the woman at the front desk was annoyed that we were coming in right before closing time. I had parked in a 20 minute spot and I was with my two kids, and since it appeared we were going to have to wait a while, I asked if I could just run downstairs to feed the meter and the woman indicated that I would lose my spot (I was with two little kids, give me a break here). I ended up taking my chances and moving my car and still making it back in time before they closed. We waited for another 30 minutes before she finally took us in to get my daughter's blood drawn. I should mention that the family right ahead of us had a daughter who fainted right after taking blood, and the woman working there just rolled her eyes and tried to make it like the mom was making drama for no reason. I am 7 months pregnant, and the woman drawing the blood (the same woman who greeted us at the door) kept pushing my antsy 2 year old daughter onto my belly. She told me I would need to restrain her, and I was trying my best, but then she kept pushing my daughter onto me, so much so that the next day I had severe ligament pain. All this, and she didn't even draw the adequate amount of blood from my daughter because she said she was moving around too much. So now, we have to go back and subject my daughter to another traumatic experience, all because the woman working here has no clue on how to work with children. Very disappointed in my experience. I have called the management to complain as well. If you are taking young children to this facility, beware! read more
