I assumed I needed to head up the street to St. Vincent's Medical Center or the East Pavilion, but the doctor said, just go up to the 2nd floor and give them this paperwork. I said, 2nd floor of the Medical Center? No, just take the elevator up one floor. Note, building is in the process of getting painted so there were no signs (4/8/24.) After walking up and down a long hallway with no success, I stopped in a pediatric office and the receptionist told me the lab was in the hallway directly in front of the elevator. Walk across from the elevator, hallway goe off to right, about half way down on the right is LabCorp. The hallways are very sterile with small signage. Once inside, you do a self check in at the kiosk. The machine couldn't read my insurance card, no idea why, so I had to manually type in all the info. This happened to several other people so it definitely warrants being fixed. After that, I took a seat and waited my turn. Some people had set up an appointment so they were in front of me. There is a screen with people's initials so you can see where you are in the queue. My wait was about ten minutes. A little soft background music in the waiting area would enhance the environment. The technician was friendly, efficient, and most important, skilled. Hit the vein first time even though I was a bit dehydrated, and a minute later, done. I have an order for a repeat test for early June, and now that I know this lab exists, I'll stop here. There is a parking lot right out front, easy exit off 26, very convenient.

A man came in with a burst appendix after I did, and they told him to have a seat in the waiting room like me (he was still there alive when I left) another women came in, and said she had Meningitis, what? She wasn't even wearing a mask, so they gave her one and told her to sit in the waiting room just like me. After 6 hours of waiting I got the hell out of there. They better not send me a bill!! Typical Oregon, they should shut that place down!

Five visits to this place and I'll not set foot in it again. OHSU Internal Medicine department is,…read moresimply put, the worst medical department I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Basically it is paternalistic medicine circa 1969 at its very worst. Patients are there to serve the doctor's practice and research interests and not to be served by medical professionals or cared for as patients. Their attitude from front desk to discharge is one of extreme annoyance that a sick person has showed up to interfere with their day, whatever that is. Special note for Doctors Mary O'hearn and Joseph Hardman, two of the most incredibly poor physicians I've ever experienced. They do not listen to the patient, give our orders with no explanations, and expect you to follow them as if you're the new Private in their army and they are the blustering Lieutenants who are not to be questioned under any circumstances. O'hearn actually yells at sick patient for asking questions about what she expects them to do without question. Her bedside manner can only be compared to someone in the military that tortures people for a living. The place is a throwback to old-style, destructive doctor-is-god and not to be questioned medicine. Their hubris, lack of compassion, and blistering arrogance should deny them a license to practice medicine. But if you like taking orders and don't ask questions (even when the treatments are very questionable and not backed by evidence-based medicine) then it might be the place for you. But if you care about your health and want kind doctor that will listen to you instead of telling you what to do then this near-medieval group of backwards, arrogant people might be for you. Pluses: Reasonably comfortable facility, clean exam rooms, support staff trying to do their jobs despite the doctors. (High turnover among staff.) Minuses: In addition to the above, abysmal parking situation, elevators constantly out of order and under-capacity for the facility, most staff and doctors not able to deal with the electronic records system & spend much time hunting and pecking on the keyboards instead of addressing the patient, not reviewing patient records before making changes to care, and a near complete lack of basic human empathy for sick people.

I tried verbally verifying they got everything. I have chronic illness so I'm used to messed up orders. I asked if they had 18. The person verified without physically counting but I took their word. I had tests slowly trickle in. The two I was most concerned about hadn't come after two weeks. I called. They accidentally missed entering those two. The two labs they messed up... scheduled my appointment, my doctor noticed they left off another he wanted done. He faxed it two days prior to my appointment. I checked in with the lab and they said I could bring a copy of my lab just in case it hadn't reached them yet, which is rad. They clarified it could be physical or virtual. I went in. Had to cab there. They didn't have the order. I showed them my copy as they told me I could. They said I had to email it to client services which is an entirely different department. I waited 20 minutes. I sent a PDF and screenshots, I checked the email address four times. They called me up. Client services hadn't received it. I sent it again. They didn't receive it. They looked at my copy on my phone. Said they couldn't do it without a physical copy. They dismissively suggested I go to the library to print it. Library was a 20 minute walk both ways. I can't do that. I got a cab and went back home. Had a little cry tantrum. Being chronically ill sucks because it sucks but also because of constant shit like this... Avoid legacy LabCorp at all costs.

This place is a disaster! Even with a scheduled appointment, be prepared to wait an hour. What is…read morethe point of setting up a timed appointment if you are made to wait so long? I've been to several other LabCorp locations and have had excellent experiences, the appointment times were respected, and they provided friendly service. Decided to try this location, inside Legacy Emanuel, since it's closest to my house, important when doing fasting labs. And near my gym so I could combine the two trips. Arrived 15 minutes prior, as instructed, and checked in using the QR code on my appointment confirmation text. Done. This was the only smooth part of the process. Took my seat and waited and waited. Helped several older people check in who didn't have a QR code, and the system requires so much info, and these folks just couldn't figure it out or stand there long enough to keep typing in all the required info. No one who works there offered to help, so this is how I passed the time. After 30 minutes I walked into larger waiting room to see where my name was on the scrolling board of waiting patients. My name wasn't even there! I found a worker to help me, she confirmed I had checked in, and told me to wait. Again. Finally I was told to go to the hallway of lab rooms and pick one and wait. Since room #1 was occupied and a technician was drawing blood, I chose #2 after seeing that 3 and 4 were empty. One would assume that I was next. Wrong. I waited and waited, got up a few times to check out the other rooms, was told to go back to my room and someone would be with me. I waited and waited while those who entered this area were seated, assisted, and left. It was maddening. Especially hearing one tech in particular chatting away as if he was at a cocktail party. Do your job! Our time is important, too. Finally a tech came to my room, made some small talk of which I wasn't interested in, but since she is the one with the needle and drawing blood, I smiled politely and answered her questions. Finally left, well past the hour mark, and went right to my car and my thermos of coffee waiting for me. Will never, ever choose this location again.
