It's the worsening stage of regular impetigo. The only thing that gets rid of it is penicillin or other antibiotics that specifically attack Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. My doctor Jenn only prescribed sulfameth/trimethorprim (written on my pill bottle) this has not cleared up my skin infection at all. I am still getting new areas that are becoming infected. Jenn told me she would write a script if the current one didn't work for me, free of charge- she said I didn't have to come in again, that she would just write in the script. I asked if she was being genuine and she reassured me again that I just needed to call and she'd send in a different script. Before I left I asked if she can offer a topical ointment also and not just the oral medication and she agreed and gave me mupirocin which has helped the current older impetigo lesions, however if I didn't have the ointment I would be in an even worsening stage because the oral medication she prescribed has done nothing but give me stomach upset unfortunately. I believe that if a doctor promises that a patient won't be charged for a second script if their first recommendation fails, then they should keep their word or just not say anything at all. It is extremely disappointing when a doctor goes back on their word. I was told I would need to come in and pay the $180 charge again in order for me to potentially be written the proper script but no guarantees. I said I would come in if they can waive the fee because I paid $180 already and have not been properly treated. How much do they want me to pay for visits until they prescribe the correct pills ? Please also note I have had this skin condition before in 2021 where I went to the dermatologist and went through many medications until they finally gave penicillin and it worked properly. It was cured. Despite me explaining this over the phone to the nurse - who relayed my message to the doctor also, I am denied proper medication. I want this on record that they refused to right their mistake and refused to send in the proper script for medication I need when they just saw me a few days ago in person!
