Starting with making appointments - the process at Quest was quite alright. You can call their…read morephone to find times available, and while I would prefer to speak with an actual person, the automated system works too. I eventually just had to go as a walk in, because I wasn't sure whether I could keep my appointment ( I ended up not making an appointment for this reason). Check in process was automated at the kiosk, and simple enough. There was no one in queue before me, so within a minute of clicking done on the kiosk I was asked to walk over to the blood draw room. The phlebotomist was friendly, quick and confident. She did a wonderful job of putting me at ease and providing information. She also performed the actual blood draw well, making this experience much nicer than it usually is. And- she was also happy to look up an estimated charge of my tests before I consented to the blood draw. That is always a good sign at any healthcare facility. She also indicated when and how to expect results, and suggested I look up online after about 2 days; since that will be the fastest way to get my records. Low hassle, quick in and out. It's how all labs should work.

We rushed into this AFT West Hartford when they opened at 8AM on a Sunday morning, and we were seen…read morefairly quickly by a Physicians Assistant, Keith R. He seemed great, diagnosed the issue, and said he was submitting 3 prescriptions to our local pharmacy right away. We went to the pharmacy at noon, and they said they never received any prescriptions for us from AFC West Hartford (or anyone else). It took 5 or 6 phone calls to the front desk of AFC before they finally submitted the prescriptions to the pharmacy. That's 6 1/4 hours just to get a script called in for an URGENT medical issue. I can't prove this, but it seemed like the receptionist at the front desk lied to us repeatedly - saying their system was down, then that Keith would call in the script on the phone, then they said he didn't because the system got fixed and he would submit it in the next ten minutes, then that it was sent, then after the pharmacy said it wasn't received the receptionist said Keith "forgot" but was going to do it in minutes, then he hadn't done it and was with a patient, then the receptionist said she'd call the pharmacy, and finally we found out from the pharmacy's system that in fact they had just received the scripts from Keith after 6 1/4 hours. So much for URGENT care. I'm sure that the AFC team would offer a million excuses, but I just want them to fix their processes and tech and have the staff do their jobs with excellence! This was FAR FAR FAR from excellent. Do better AFC!

Had to share my delightful experience this morning at Quest Diagnostics in West Hartford…read more I've been poked and probed fir blood for far too many years to even remember, since I was young, it's always been a problem finding a good vein. They eventually did, but the journey getting there was quite painful until this morning when Josie (the phlebotomist ) found a good vein-immediately, inserted her needle expertly without any pain and pulled four vials of blood in what felt like a second ! I just had it say thank you Josie your skill and professionalism exceeded my expectations!!! Well done
